Specialties
Nancy Stacy, GG, ASA, Master Gemologist Appraiser® is an independent jewelry appraiser specializing in modern and antique fine jewelry, diamonds, gemstones, watches and sterling silver flatware. Appraisal services include insurance coverage and claims, estate distribution, divorce, litigation, and more. We advise buyers on fine jewelry purchases and assist those wanting to sell their jewelry.
Insurance Coverage: Because the descriptions of jewelry in an insurance appraisal are as important as the appraised value in case of loss or theft, documentation of the jewelry is thorough and detailed.
Purchase Verifications: Clients may obtain quality verification with us prior to finalizing a fine jewelry purchase.
Re-Sale Appraisal: You need two things to sell your jewelry: an idea of what you can expect to receive for it and documentation to establish credibility with prospective buyers. We provide a written quality analysis of your jewelry, with a verbal value estimate, as most buyers are used to seeing inflated insurance appraisals, which they use as a basis for discounting. Our broker’s fee is 10% of the price realized if you consign with us.
Estate Appraisals, including estate taxation, planning or distribution, charitable donation, collateral, etc. are tailored to the intended use, and the time required depends on the research necessary to substantiate value. These types of appraisals have important legal requirements, and Nancy is an expert in this.

Meet the Business Owner
Nancy Stacy S.
Business Owner
Initially, I started a small jewelry business, which grew into a fine jewelry store. In order to better serve my customers’ needs, I began studying jewelry appraisal. The subject turned out to be much broader and more complicated than I imagined! I loved learning about valuation theory – what creates, sustains and diminishes the value of an item. I studied with several appraisal societies, culminating with advanced courses offered by the American Society of Appraisers.
As time went by, in addition to my full-time appraisal practice, I taught appraisal courses for the ASA, and then developed specialized courses for gems and jewelry appraisers. At the request of the Chinese government, I traveled four times to China to teach a comprehensive jewelry appraising course. I have been awarded a life-time membership with the American Society of Appraisers and am now a member of the Board.
My husband, Randy Trahan, works with me in the appraisal practice since he «retired».
