Elena is awesome! My husband and I needed a realtor in a hurry and after looking at Unilocal decided to take a chance with Elena. We are so glad we did! After Elena helped us buy the perfect home a little more than a year ago, she was always available and approachable for any of our home related questions and concerns. Because of our amazing first-time home buying process with Elena, there was no question regarding who would help us sell our home when the time came.
We had to move out of state for a new job and we were worried that the Holiday season wouldn’t be the best time to sell the house. However, with Elena’s positive attitude, her extensive knowledge and preparedness, we were comfortable initiating the selling process. We accepted an offer within three days of the house being on the market and we are quite sure that we have Elena to thank for it. Elena shepherded me and my fiancé through our first home purchase, and were extremely impressed with her expertise, ability to execute quickly, and professionalism. We were psychotically detail-oriented clients with a pretty stringent set of requirements for our first home, and on top of it all were extremely ignorant of the entire process. Elena took the time to explain the full process of buying a house, escorted us to see 80+ homes within a few months, and was always, always kind and patient. We never felt pressured to make any decisions, and she very promptly answered all of our questions. I personally really enjoyed her fluff-free communication style :) — she’s very direct, doesn’t sugarcoat, but also has a great read on how to soothe our worries and how to best address our questions. Even after we found a house, she was an excellent partner in a tricky closing, and continued to volunteer her advice and services after we closed on the house. She still keeps in touch :), and I’m looking forward to hopefully working with her again in the future!

My husband and I were buying our first home in California with a very limited budget. We were very nervous and excited at the same time — in a highly competitive market and limited time frame it seemed unreal. I cannot speak too highly of Elena Mandelson and the service she provided for us. If/when we want to buy or sell a property again, Elena will be the first person we call! We had a pretty negative experience with a previous agent and during the purchase with Elena we had a really negative experience with our lender that I don’t think we would have survived if it were not for Elena’s patience, clarity and positivity. Right from the beginning Elena explained everything about the process with clear timelines and required actions from all involved. She was always available to answer questions either by email or phone both during the search for a place and during the purchase process. Her advice was invaluable. She really helped us to work through some big problems created by the lender and we would have lost the property if it were not for her hard work. It was a really stressful process due to the lender’s mistakes but Elena was always calm and clear about what we should do next. She’s also a lovely person and was therefore a pleasure to work with.

Elena is an outstanding real estate agent, extremely hard working business professional, and smart well rounded and a great person. We have worked with Elena for the last 2 years and got to know her very well. We are extremely demanding and difficult to please and Elena has exceeded all expectations. After a long search we have finally gotten into contract on a great house in Danville. Not only was Elena objective and patient with us, she was able to deliver by establishing rapport with the largest agent in Danville and beating out 5 other offers and winning the house. It’s worth noting that Elena was on vacation in Europe when we finally got into contract and she literally worked the whole trip — showing her unbelievable work ethic. In hindsight, Elena was always spot on her recommendations and calls on the market. Elena is extremely attentive inviting her clients to a lot of events, never forgetting about your birthday, Father’s Day and a lot of other occasions. Elena helped us find/buy a house in the Walnut Creek area — which is a very crazy market with many houses getting multiple offers and people going over asking. We consider ourselves extremely lucky that we got our house (the first one we made an offer on) and feel that having Elena as our realtor was a big part of it. There were multiple offers on our house and we were not the highest bidder. We found out that one of the reasons the sellers chose us is because they liked Elena’s professionalism and open communication during the buying process. On top of the fact that Elena seemed to know the Walnut Creek area inside and out, she could also answer many detailed questions about property maintenance costs, etc — she was a wealth of information. When showing us houses, she was very open and honest about the pros and the cons of a house if she didn’t think it was a good house or a good fit. We found Elena INCREDIBLY EASY to work with and someone we highly respect. We could not be happier with our home — we love it! We can’t be more thankful to have Elena as our realtor. She represented us from both perspectives: as sellers and then as buyers.
We were in the difficult position of selling our house and buying another one in a fairly short time frame. With Elena’s help we were able to sell our house and buy a new one in a very competitive market (we competed against all cash offers). Her negotiations skills were essential in both transactions and she has successfully managed the complicated issues of the business. She had a pivotal role in helping us navigate through an exceptionally difficult and tedious sale, all while keeping the purchase of our new home alive.

Elena did a small miracle last spring when she helped us sell our house and move to a larger one. The market was more than just a bit on the crazy side at that time, but she firmly guided us around all obstacles and made sure we stayed sane along the way. She assisted us in coming up with the right selling price, worked with us on staging the house, she went with us to a thousand showing, never trying to hurry us in our decisions, always being very observant and attentive to details that would have escaped our attention if not for her. Elena is a very tough negotiator — she negotiated a lease-back for us with the buyer on conditions right for us, even though the buyer was not quite excited about that, and helped us in our bargaining over the price of the house we were buying. At the same time Elena’s networking skills are fabulous and saved us a lot of time and likely a sizable chunk of money — it looked like she personally knew every agent we ever met on showings or open houses, and she was able to learn details about the houses we considered buying we would otherwise just have kept guessing.
Selling and buying real estate is really stressful, but Elena was there for us 24/7, listening to us with more patience and attention than any shrink.
Another thing we really liked about her is how tech-savvy she is. All the paperwork, and there was a lot of it, was made available for our e-signatures practically in instant, which was very convenient and time-saving.
We highly recommend Elena as a true real estate professional who is also a pleasure to work with.
