Showed up on time to repair a Sub Zero ice maker that decided making ice was not part of the deal. Tech opened it up and very quickly said the ice maker unit had failed and the water supply valve was also bad. And for about $ 600 it could be repaired. Likely not a bad cost for an entire ice making unit. I said I would think about it and decide if the whole frig should be replaced as it was 15 years old. In the meantime, the ice maker started making ice again (maybe worried it was going to the recycling heap). Then I went online to review problems and trouble shooting for Sub Zeros, and found that the error code being given suggested checking to make sure no ice cubes had gotten stuck in the unit. I suspect that the tech freed up the ice cube when he opened it up, but I am very disappointed that his quick fix was replace everything. Well maybe in a former life he worked on cars. So end of story is we are waiting to see if the ice maker keeps working (after several weeks it is doing great), and before you write the check, do some homework…

We have had a very poor experience with Contra Costa appliance. We bought a high end refrigerator from them just over six months ago and we have had nothing but trouble. The basic problem is that the refrigerator does not stay cold. The sales department will not take any responsibility and the service department can not fix the problem. Save yourself a lot of frustration — Stay away from CC appliance.

After 5 hours we figured out the Ice maker didn’t work.

So we had to call the Manufacture after two weeks we scheduled an appointment a month out Not kidding that was first available
Service man comes out determines ice maker doesn’t work
Comes back two weeks later brings one new ice maker door puts in on doesn’t match the other side
Gave us two choices live with it or put the old one back on We kept it
The next day the ice maker didn’t work
A month later a service man came back out
And told us the ice maker didn’t work.
He called the manufacture they replaced the unit.
Two weeks later the Ice maker goes out
The saga continues in the mean time Contra Costa appliances does Zero

After reading (great) reviews on Unilocal,I went to get new trays for our stove, but they were going to have to order them, so instead of asking me to wait, they directed my sale to another appliance store!
Then, feeling loyalty to them for their generosity, I scheduled a house call to look at my washer and dryer, which were giving me problems, and after the visit and repair estimate was provided, my husband reminded me that we have a HOME WARRANTY service that I should have called!
In the end, the technician didn’t charge us.
WOW… There is a reason this place has been in business so long, it’s called INTEGRITY.

Totally recommend: I am writing this less than 5 minutes since my technician Guiermo left my home. He came and fixed three major problems with my washer — the hot water valve, the agitator gears and the main drive for the spindle — in LESS THAN AN HOUR. I watched him surgically handle a machine i take for granted like he’d been doing it all his life. He completely dissassembled the washer and repaired everything in less than an hour and left my laundry area just as he found it — pretty darn clean. I would whole heartedly recommend Contra Costa Appliance Service to anyone with a broken appliance. It’s cheaper to fix what you have, than buy new. Bob

6 year old dryer wouldn’t heat. Guillermo arrived within the service window and after Barbara called to advise a more specific timeframe. Guillermo was very neat, his tools were beautifully arranged in his tool bag, he was courteous, friendly and began immediately to work on the problem. I was impressed from the start. Turns out it was an easy and predictable problem given the dryer’s age. However, his explanations about the dryer’s operation and the speed with which he repaired the problem made me comfortable using this company again. We have dealt with CC Appliance for years without disappointments.

The icemaker went out in our refrigerator. We made an appointment. The office staff communicated very well their arrival time and the technician fixed the problem in a timely manner.

I called on Saturday to see if I could get a technician over to our home asap to fix our Maytag dryer door. They scheduled us for Monday morning between 8 and 12. Couldn’t get an appt any faster than THAT! Fantastic!
At 8:30 Monday a.m., the store called to say the tech was on his way.
Michael arrived minutes later and fixed the door quickly and perfectly.
Many of the people who work at this store have been there not just for years but decades. (The reason they have three listings on Unilocal is because they have a sales location and a service division.)

What service! My year-​old refrigerator died, and while I was waiting for the new compressor Contra Costa Appliance brought me a loaner to use until my frig was repaired. Everyone I encountered during this crisis was extremely helpful and considerate. I’m a customer for life!

After providing the scheduler with model no., serial no. (read while craning neck with a flashlight over several minutes and of course name, address, date of purchase, a description of the problem (it doesn’t get cold) a nearly ten minute process not counting wait states, a service appointment was granted. Upon arrival the tech asked why the unit was off (we turned it off months ago as it didn’t work). Whereupon he turned it on, collected $ 100 and promised to return if it still doesn’t work and we require service. He said it would take hours to know if it was working, I have no problem with Guillermo, he was professional.
After hours we called for another appointment and while we were putting it together I mentioned to the scheduler that if she would have asked us to make sure the unit was running when the tech arrived it would have saved
1. several days between now and his return
2. the cost of a truck & a tech making a r.t.
3. the need go through another scheduling exercise.
Whereupon, she delivered me a windy lecture about how she is not a tech
and the idea of asking such a question was — out of the question.
t seems to me that this is a fair question to ask when sending someone out to repair
an appliance — in this case a refrigerator. I’s think the owner or head of operations would so instruct the scheduler. Too much to ask?

I am writing to make you aware of my disappointment with your service. Our family has used Contra Costa Appliance for years and when we had a problem with our sink not draining you were a logical place to turn.
After taking the call, an appointment was set up for the repair. Upon arrival, your technician diligently checked the dishwasher and found that it was in proper working order. The diagnosis was the problem was with the air gap. You couldn’t fix it and we needed to call a plumber.
To be fair you also fixed our stove. However, we would not have called you to fix the stove and would have been charged $ 100 for the service call regardless of that repair.
Now I am not the least bit handy around the house but after being charged one fee for not fixing my problem, I didn’t have the money to call someone else to come in and not fix my problem.
After spending a couple of late nights and not very much money on a new air gap, I fixed my problem.
I am very disappointed in your service. All the repair manuals point to the air gap as a potential problem when the dishwasher doesn’t drain. Again, I am not very handy around the house so I missed that — my bad. However, I am sure your repair people must see this problem more than occasionally.
I mentioned my experience to family members who have also used you in the past. They were surprised. They said, Contra Costa Appliance usually comes in, diagnoses and repairs the problem. Even in the case where they don’t have a part on the truck to fix it, the repair man has come back the next day to fix it without an extra charge.
Replacing an air gap takes very little time and needs to be an integral part of training for anyone who goes out on calls to repair dishwashers. Your customer service, profits and future business would benefit from this.
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to recommend you in the future.

This place might be okay for purchases but their service is a rip-​off. I had them replace the ignitor in my oven a couple of times but got tired of paying $ 200 for the part and service so the last time it happened I ordered the part online for $ 39.95 (same part they charged me $ 75 for) and replaced it myself in 15 min. And by the way, this is not a difficult fix — six screws and two wires. I realize that service is how many places make their money but I don’t think it should be a free pass to take advantage of people.

No, you will not find here the best price available in the market. Contra Costa cannot compete with Internet companies which do not charge tax. However, you will find someone familiar with your name when you call, which is a big deal if your appliance needs repairs or comes in damaged! So, your choice (a) support local companies that offer service or (b) take a risk by getting the best internet deal. After a faulty range oven which took me hours on the phone with automated voices and phone trees, plus service fees, I now pick (a).

Great service people and very professional and knowledgeable staff. We have a new Bosh dishwasher that needed repairs twice already in a month and they came out in a timely manner and repaired it free of charge both times, they even gave hints as to how to extend the service life of the machine. Thank you.

Mario was fantastic. He really knows his stuff. Knew that the E1 code on our 10 yr old Kenmore Elite gas dryer was a thermistor failure. That it worked intermittently let him know that our coils had to be replaced too. Something that doesn’t show up on the codes. And only $ 31 for the coils and included in his labor charge.
AND, Contra Costa Appliance told us on Monday that Mario could be here Thursday, then called on Tuesday and said he could be here in an hour! Great!

I am delighted with Contra Costa Appliance. I have an old cooktop, a discontinued model, which needed ignition switches. The ignition switches are no longer made. If we needed to buy another cooktop, it would have cost more than $ 1000.00, because cooktops are no longer made in the size of our old cooktop, so we would have had to cut through the tile to make space. Steve, at Contra Costa Appliance, did some research and found similar ignition switches that are now made by a different manufacturer. He ordered the parts and fixed our stove, quickly and economically. Thank you, Contra Costa Appliance!

Fabulous Service! Had the front load washer break on a Wed– did you know these machines have shock absorbers — and call CCAR Wed and on Thursday they sent «Dr Mario» out! He quickly diagnosed the problem, checked on parts, recognized they were not in stock and gave me the option to order online from
with next day delivery. Parts arrived Monday. I called Barb at CCAR, she called Mario, who was on his day off, and he came right over to repair the washer! Excellent, professional service and very easy to work with! I would highly recommend both CCAR and Mario for any appliance repairs!
