We reviewed and received estimates from a number of roofing contractors in this area and found American Foam Experts to be the one to go with.
We were in dire need of a new roof and wanted to change the look from our old tar and gravel roof to something more efficient and with better curb appeal.
I am sure that Gus from AFE saved us from making what could have been a bad decision about changing too much of the look of our roof and gutter system.
Gus’ input and advice was very plain and simple, and without any pressure.
So far we have been free of any leaks, and, there is a noticeable difference in the temperature inside. Our heater turns on, when it has been the coldest, probably about once every 45 – 60 minutes for about maybe 5 minutes max.
I highly recommend Gus and American Foam Experts.

We recently purchased a foam roof from American Foam Experts for our poorly insulated, flat-​roofed (tar and gravel) second home near Sacramento, and WOW, what a difference it made! In the past, when we arrived there during the summer we could hardly walk inside because it was so hot. But now, it’s so much cooler inside that we hardly ever even have to turn on the air-​conditioner! A bit expensive to be sure, but worth every penny!

I called for a limited area patch to a foam roof in Berkeley. Gus listed carefully listened and explained why his company is not set up for small jobs, and why small area patches are problematic and risky for all foam roofers. He showed a deep understanding of the foam system, and a willingness to explain his reasoning. Thanks Gus.
For homeowners foam roofs are great in many ways, but they can’t be patched like shingle roofs. If you need to add a skylight, solar mount, or repair mechanical damage, be prepared for a $ 3000 minimum just to get the truck on site. In this case Gus’s minimum was even more: $ 5000. That’s too high for the small area involved, and I’ll try elsewhere or try to rent a two part foam rig.

I recently had my flat foam roof refurbished by Gus and his foreman Mike. Marvelous job, professional and done in two days. Wow… I am still in disbelief! My roof once again looks fabulous, they fixed the rotten eaves, added drains and even offered to add the downspouts! Very nice work, and I am happy. With the possibility of the El Nino this winter I am glad they squeezed me in to their schedule. I strongly encourage you to chat with Gus before hiring someone else!

I have a flat top roof on my home and needed a new roof. I chose a foam roof after reading lots of reviews of foam roofs vs. tar and gravel roofs. After having a foam roof for 8+ months I can say it definitively helped keep my home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. I would recommend a foam roof to anyone with with a flat top home.
