I love this place! First of all, the building is awesome! Second of all, the food is awesome. I expected this place to be good but it turns out the food was great! I got fried shrimp and it tasted so fresh! I don’t know how they did it but it tasted right out of the ocean, even though the restaurant isn’t even near an ocean. It also is basically in the middle of nowhere, so I was surprised how packed it was. The service was quick and the servers were friendly! It reminded me of being in Maine. If you love seafood you need to come here!

Being that I live less than 4 miles from this place and I’ve eaten many times here I don’t get what the Big Deal is” the food is good but I wouldn’t be driving from another town to go their to eat. The last few time we ate there I noticed the portions were less and prices had gone up. I felt like I had been given a child’s plate. Just glad I wasn’t really really hungry.

I ALWAYS get the fried scallops and crab cakes here. The seafood is cooked perfectly. Nothing really special about the sides, but the food is always consistent. Large portions for reasonable prices.

This is definitely a good place to get some seafood! I like it better than Red Lobster because the food is better, and the price is more affordable. Everyone is really friendly, and it doesn’t take long for you to get your food after you have ordered it. There is an older lady at the front that always welcomes you, and says goodbye with a smile on her face as she is so nice! The food is always piping hot and delicious! I am fond of the pick 3, where you pick three seafood items and get hushpuppies, fries or a baked potato, and cole slaw with your meal. I usually get the popcorn shrimp, whitefish, and my ultimate favorite, the salt and pepper catfish which is amazing! Be sure to try the catfish if you go, you won’t regret it! The meal is usually around $ 12-$ 15 which not bad at all when you compare them to other places around the area. They always seem to have a cake or pie of the day, and they also have candy and butter mints for sell at the cashier where you pay before you depart. Overall, this is a great place, and as far as I am concerned, the secret’s out in Walkertown!

This place is amazing! The amount of food you get on the lunch special is crazy! I have dinner that evening off that lunch meal. They are very family oriented, have the best sweet tea around Walkertown, and are reasonably priced.

I’d heard so much about Walkertown Seafood Shack so I was excited to finally visit. We called ahead to see what the wait time was, because we’d heard that they always have a crowd, but we were happy to hear there was no wait time. 15 minutes later we arrived to just that. We were seated immediately. I ordered the 3 item fried combination of Flounder(Fried Hard), Jumbo Shrimp & Scallops with a Baked Potato. No more Mayflower for me! My Flounder was fried perfectly with that crisp that I love. Everything was sooo good but my favorite part were the Scallops! They were so tasty. I’m normally not a huge fan of Fried Shrimp/Scallops. I’m one of those people who refuse to believe everything can be fried. So I was surprised that I liked theirs. The batter was not to thick so you could actually enjoy the flavors of the seafood. The service was also very good. Our waiter joked with us a bit and made us feel really comfortable. I’ll definitely be returning every chance I get!

The«Old Timers» would call it a fish camp! I know what it means, but never understood the reason for calling it as such! It’s a seafood restaurant, usually in a rural area, that does fried seafood very well! Seafood Shack in Walkertown, NC fits the bill very well! It’s a predominately fried seafood restaurant that is packed with locals on a Friday or Saturday night. If your used to doing the Calabash stlye seafood when you hit the beach, this is identical but so much better! On this most recent visit I had the combination platter of Fried Catfish and Popcorn Shrimp! The catfish, lightly battered and fried golden brown, is perhaps the most consistently good catfish I ever tasted! The shrimp is always a good size, lightly battered, and never over fried! We also ordered a combination platter of Clam Strips and Fried Chicken Tenders. While not a big fan of clam strips, these I’ll do due to the breading and not so overpowering clam taste! The chicken tenders are truly cut from the breast, lightly battered, and deliciously juicy! Their hushpuppies leave a bit to be desired, which at these style of seafood joints is usually their calling card. Save yourself from the«Calabash» style joints you waste your money on at the beach, and instead head to Walkertown’s Seafood Shack for some tasty fried seafood!

In my seemingly endless search for good seafood in the Triad that matches my fish camp experiences back home, this is about as close as I’ve come. It’s a bit off the beaten path, so coming here from Greensboro was a little interesting, but I’m glad we did. As usual, I grabbed the fried flounder. The portions were generous and the fish was what I was hoping for. The hushpuppies, fries and cole slaw(had to get something that wasn’t fried) were all very good as well. This place is bigger than I expected, and the service was exactly what you’d expect, a little country and very helpful.

Great food and large portions! The food has always been fresh and the service has always been friendly. My mom and dad love it because they have perch on the menu, which is apparently not something that you can find in a lot of places. I love their flounder and popcorn shrimp platter! If you go but you’re not much of a seafood person, their chicken tenders are good and I’ve been told the steaks are good as well(though I have never had one of their steaks personally). This place is definitely popular in this area and it’s well deserved!

I use to like this place but now they nickel, and dime you for everything. 10 cents for tarter sauce, 20 cents for a cup, and etc. My aunt ordered a 3 item but could not get the Canadian flounder, instead she had to get a 2 item, and add a side of jumbo shrimp for an extra charge. The waitress said the fish was large but it wasn’t.

I don’t know what everybody sees in this place. The hubs and I ate here once after we moved to Walkertown. We both love seafood so we figured why not. I don’t even know what we got, some 2 choice combo each or something? Anywho, I know I got popcorn shrimp, hush puppies and maybe fries and he got jumbo shrimp, scallops and fries I believe. I swear everything was a disgusting battered deep fried mess. Greasy as all hell and seems like they threw it all in the same fryer and then slopped it on a plate. I’m not dumb, it was deep fried, of course there will be oil but it’s like the batter was WAY too thick and absorbed WAY too much oil. Looks as if all their crap is deep fried too. Like it takes a lot of talent to throw things in a fryer. I was not impressed whatsoever. The check took FOREVER to get to our table. We just wanted to leave. Save yourself the money and trip and go buy a box of Gordon’s fish sticks because that’s pretty much the quality of what you’re going to get here.

I used to love this place, until they started to randomly charging me for ranch dressing. On the back of the menu, it clearly states that one dressing comes with your meal. I love ranch dressing on my baked potatoes. Now, even though the menu states that in black and white, I’m getting charged $ 0.50 plus tax for it. Since I wasn’t informed by the waitress ahead of time, and argued with the manager after, and, it is still written on the menu; before ordering, I show the waitperson where it says that one comes with your meal, and they give you a dumb look and state it doesn’t. The menus have been updated, so why leave that on, for over a year, if, it isn’t true? But, on the visit before I was being charged, I don’t know the girl’s name– Cherry? Candy? Cassie? She has shoulder length dark hair, and is a little on the fuller figure side compared to most of the scarecrow looking girls there. Well, she disappeared into the kitchen, and even after asking other wait staff to find her, it took a good 45 minutes for her to appear with our check. Then, when she did, there was no thank you, or explanation for why it took so long. Meanwhile, we never got refills on our tea, and only saw her when she was taking our order, bringing our drinks, and the bill. A kitchen boy brought the food, and said he’d send someone out with drinks, that magically never happened. Then, the ranch explosion happened at the register. And, I’m supposed to give her 20% for that? We could have bought Costco sized sugar and tea bags for what we all had(three of us) for our single glasses of tea, that were mainly ice to begin with. So, yes, the food is excellent, but the staff attitudes, service, policies, pricing, and respect for customers just isn’t there. So, do you support a small, local business with great food and lousy ownership/management/staff, or go to a chain? Because, yes, I did talk to the manager and owner. They overvalue their ranch, believing it should, as other dressings in general, be priced higher, as they aren’t making money on them. This review is long overdue, and mistakingly was put into my draft folder, but not much has changed, that’s why I have the over a year reference. I just wanted that to be known.

I tried this place for the first time about a month ago, and we have been back every week for lunch. Let me tell you if you like seafood, then this is the place to go! I get the Wednesday Lunch Special which is Fried Popcorn Shrimp & Whitefish and it comes with Hushpuppies, either Fries or Baked Potato(which is cook perfectly if I must say) and it comes with a cup of slaw. The amount of food you get for $ 5.95 is crazy. If you was going to get the same amount of food elsewhere, you would easily pay $ 10 or more. The shrimp & whitefish is fried perfect each time I’ve ate there. If you are looking for a new place to try, then this is the place!

Hands down best seafood in Winston-Salem! Don’t run helicopter ride over. It opens at 4:00 on the weekends so come at 3:30 to make sure you get a seat.

A great place to get some seafood. This place gets busy at times, but one good thing is that they offer call in orders. You call in your order then pick it up at a drive through. What a great idea. You dont have to go in. The seafood here is all fresh tasting. I like to get the combo platter. Last time I got shrimp and oysters. I had so may oysters it was like a large order, plus the shrimp! The portion sizes are really good. You wont leave hungry! The breading is flavorful without being over done. Hush puppies are very good. Way better than most seafood restaurants in the area. Definite recommendation on this one!

I’ve been here several times before and the food is usually on point. But today… when we asked for hush puppies while we waited on our order we were brought out a bowl of hush puppies and told we wouldn’t have any on our plates since we were getting them now. The hush puppies were average at best. Then we were asked if we wanted a tea to go and were charged for extra beverages! Not sure I’ll be going back any time soon.

What I want at a seafood restaurant is fresh seafood. The Seafood Shack was spacious and the combination platters came with hush puppies, slaw, choice of fries or baked potato, and one or two choices of seafood. I went with clam strips, oysters, and scallops. All of the seafood was fresh and firm. The slaw was the white kind and good. The bake potato came with sour cream(but no chives) but was perfectly cooked. Everything was very hot. The hush puppies were not the greatest but everything else was excellent. I would recommend the scallops and oysters. For dessert, various cakes were from the Bakery«Cake and All Things Yummy» in Kernersville.(See ) The chocolate cake was great . Service was very courteous, attentive, and friendly. The food came out very quickly. Next time I will try their Clam Chowder.

A solid 4.5, but I can’t justify giving it the extra half-star. Comparatively better than Captain Tom’s for nearly every part of the meal, especially the homemade chips & the cake they resale in to-go boxes from a top-end local baker. The butter pecan cake was like pralines in cake form. We each had a fried sampler, & the scallops, trout, salt & pepper catfish, oysters, & shrimp were all prepared well without a bit of the overcooking that is so easy to step into. Also, the sweet potato fries were paired with a cinnamon dipping sauce reminiscent of Cinnabon’s. But for she-crab soup, go to Captain Tom’s.

MMMMMMMM! One of my favorite Seafood restaurants in NC. I love me some Seafood Shack. Always great food. Some say the prices are steep but for me they are on par with the quality of food that you get. I don’t think the prices are any more expensive than any of the other GREAT restaurants I eat at. Can’t wait till I return.

A really unexpected gem seeming in the middle of nowhere! I found this place on Unilocal and dragged a gaggle of folks out to Walkertown from W-S. Somehow we accidentally ordered our entire meal fried, but it was super tasty and looking back not sure I would make any changes(other than running an extra mile or 2 that morning). The fried shrimp were my favorite but loved the scallops, fish and deviled crab too. Everything was deliciously seasoned and very fresh. Mmm this review is making me hungry! We did not realize that they do not serve alcohol(I know, crazy) so may not be the place for a rowdy Friday night dinner, but the food is tasty enough for me to overlook this one flaw.
