I love the homee feel of this diner. The customer service is wonderful and it feels like your aunt is taking your order. The food is simply stupendous. It’s nothing too over the top which is something I like. I will definitely return here again and again.

Our thanksgiving tradition is to have dinner at Moody’s every year. The food is just like Grammy used to make minus the family drama! Simple enough… mashed squash, potatoes, and turnip. Plus turkey, stuffing, pearl onions, soup or fruit cup, and pumpkin bread or biscuits, beverage, and dessert, for $ 17 per dinner. Even the coffee was good which is very important to us. Service was prompt and friendly. My only complaint is that the pumpkin pie was runny like it hadn’t fully cooked and firmed up, I could have asked for a different piece of pie but frankly I was too full for dessert! Usually Moody’s has the best homemade pies. Love Moody’s!

This review is only for dessert, which after about 3 hours of driving from Bar Harbor I was concerned we had gotten lost… The oasis had arrived, what looked like to be a greasy spoon diner promised the best pie I would ever had along with a much needed cup of coffee. Moody’s didn’t disappoint — Mom, Sister and I each had a different piece of pie: 4-berry, apple, and blueberry. This was indeed the best pie I’ve ever had(I would never say this to my grandmother, though)… So much fruit filling that you’ll think you’re getting a whole pie’s worth. Crust that is rich and somehow still perfectly flaky. Coffee was good also, and hit the spot. What turns this place from a 4* to 5*, however, is the whoopee pies. We decided that since they were serving a pumpkin version, might as well enjoy the season. We left with a 4 pack of additional whoopee pies for breakfast /dessert the next day. Love Moody’s diner, and will definitely recommend it to anyone who is in between Portland and Bar Harbor.

I went to the Maine Diner yesterday which I thought was good but I tried Moody’s today and liked it more. I had the Shepard’s Pie and it was tasty. The biscuit that I had with it was very good. The apple pie was superb! Thick piece of pie unlike many places that you give you a skimpy piece of pie. Not too sweet like many pies that I have had. Great service and food. I will be back again when I come visit Maine again from Colorado.

Average type diner. Not my first choice to go to unless it’s late evening and traveling on US1. Have had a couple good meals, breakfast items and a couple of daily specials. Servers always friendly. Busy place most times. Cakes and pies are good as well.

Great old diner! I can agree that the 4 Berry Pie is really special! The chowder is also very good! The atmosphere alone makes it a fun visit.

This is a traditional roadside diner that attracted our attention due to all the cars in the parking lot. It’s an obvious local tradition that serves good, simple meals. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, then ordered the pot roast. Tender roast beef, gravy/mashed potatoes and corn. Excellent, fresh bread arrived before the meal. Blueberry pie was good but not overly special. Good food, nothing fancy. A place you will remember.

So, yet another trip to Rockland and yet another stop at Moody’s for dinner on the way home. We had the usual wait because we hit at the top of the dinner rush, but it gave my wife and the girls the chance to hit the gift store. Once we got in and seated we were starved. I personally felt as though I had just returned from a long whaling voyage and hadn’t had land food in ages. We ordered pretty quickly which is incredible given the breadth of the menu — hot turkey sandwiches, chicken fingers, hamburgers, turkey club, and a Reuben sandwich with pastrami. One important tip — be sure to order your pie first thing — they run out of the favorites — ours were Walnut, Banana Cream, Lemon Meringue, and Cream Puffs. Took them to go, but they hit the spot later. All in all, we love the place, it does have its kitsch, but the food wasn’t nearly as good as the first time — although the young lady that served us was great. Will we go again, but of course.

My family got there right before lunch hour and got sat down quickly. It was lucky cause it started to get really packed right as we sat down. The service was good but not excellent. They were all women which I guess they just allowed recently. Our waitress was nice, she seemed like she was happy to be there which is always nice. The food is nicer than most diners are. The biggest problems was diversity. Mostly old white people and a few families. Didn’t see many other races but thats what most if the area is like. Good places to eat. Recommend it.

We have been stopping here for years. We start with a piece of lemon meringue pie. It is always excellent! Be sure and stop in. Seats at the counter are first come first serve.

I’ve heard of Moody’s Diner for many years. We finally decided to drive up and give it a try. The place was smaller than I would have expected with all the hype about it. It is set up like most Maine diners. Menu has things from land and from sea. I decided to try the Seafood Platter, which at $ 16.99 is a real bargain! I got the onion rings and they were big, juicy and sweet. I tried my wife’s fries and they were fresh and tasty. My fish was in the form of fish sticks. Not bad, but nothing special(reminded me of cafeteria fish when I was a kid). Scallops were lightly breaded and were quite tasty. Clams came as both whole clams and clam strips, and both were delicious. Shrimp was lightly breaded was also quite tasty. Overall a pleasant dining experience, and you really can’t complain about the prices!

We were disappointed after seeing the full parking lot and reading the clippings in the waiting area. Middle of the road diner food. The onion rings were a big let down. The burgers were over cooked.

The perfect diner… Pleasant waitstaff, good sandwiches and platters, and HUGE meringue pie. The Reuben is perfect with lots of sauerkraut and my daughter loved the kids meals. Chicken and grilled cheese. You might have to wait during the busy times but it is well worth it.

This place has really got its act together, Moody’s might have the best turkey club on this planet!!! sweet-food is killer here and moody’s has the best bang for your buck on a seafood dinner. There are a few weak points on the menu, such as the fried chicken and the horrible mashed potatoes with possibly the blandest gravy ever made. But the biscuits are so darn good you’ll forget about these weak point.

Moody’s offers the same refreshment to the weary traveler today as it has for many decades. It’s a classic roadside diner that has the look and feel of a simpler time, and its this resistance to change that makes it worthwhile. Unlike chain restaurants that try to be trendy, Moody’s menu is consistent, and the prices are very reasonable. Besides the atmosphere, the waitresses are friendly and conversational and the food is always excellent. I usually have the open-faced Hot Turkey Sandwich, which is always very good, and of course, you can’t leave without having a slice of pie!

I love, love, love this place! It’s the king of roadside diners, it’s a trip to the past, the only thing that has changed since the 50“s are the prices and even they’re so low you weep with joy. I ordered the fried Scallop plate, the biggest mound of scallops I have ever had and not on top of a pile of french fries either, they came with a pile of fries but not hidden beneath, it also came with two side orders of veggies. My husband ordered the Fried Haddock and for once did not come poking around for my scallops when he finished even though I could have used the help this time! We finished it off by sharing a piece of Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake… OMG…so good, and way too much for the two us. We’ll be returning.

It’s not easy to find rhubarb pie — or pie plant pie as I like to call it, but they have it here. It’s actual rhubarb pie, not strawberry rhubarb — which can be hard to find. The food here is pure diner food — but good diner food. There is plenty of parking and more pie than you could ever consume in a month. If you are looking for a good greasy spoon, Moody’s Diner does not disappoint. If your’e not getting the rhubarb pie, might I recommend the gingerbread cake? FANTASTIC.

Moody’s is one of those throwbacks to an earlier time. Old wooden booths, a telephone booth that they saved(very cool for us older folks!) and plenty of photos and stuff to look at. But we came to eat breakfast. Coffee was good! And the waitress knew to keep it coming — kudos to her! The rest of meal was OK — standard stuff. Unfortunately they advertised homemade corn beef hash and I didn’t ask to be sure. Pretty sure it was straight out of a can. Also my eggs were on the cold side. BUT — it was all cooked as ordered and perfectly ok. Also, if you see donut holes for sale near the register, get them! I paid $ 1.69 for maybe 8 or 10 and they were yummy. They also had some real old-fashioned pies listed that I would’ve loved to try — custard, rhubard, walnut, etc. I would definitely stop again for the ambiance and those donut holes, just staying away from the hash next time.
