History

Established in 1968.

The law firm of Jacobowitz & Gubits, LLP, was founded in 1968 to provide sophisticated legal representation to businesses and individuals throughout the Mid-​Hudson Valley and the state of New York. While we have expanded, the solo firm established by Gerald N. Jacobowitz in 1963 has grown into a practice with nearly 30 attorneys and a full staff of paralegals and legal assistants. Our firm has maintained its focus on providing the highest quality client service.

Business Owner

Mr. Jacobowitz is the founder and one of the senior partners at Jacobowitz & Gubits, LLP, and works in the Environmental/​Land Use, Real Estate, Municipal Law, and Business Law areas. He has been village and town attorney for municipalities throughout the Hudson Valley. On behalf of private clients, he has helped bring to fruition numerous successful projects, including Rural Ridge subdivision, Harriman Business Park, Wind Ridge Village, Harriman Hills, Thruway Shopping Center, Walden View Apartments, and Millpond Condominium.

Long committed to community service, Gerald served as a founding director of the Orange County Pro-​Bono Legal Services, Inc. He continues to serve as a member of the Orange County Planning Board since 1997 and was vice chairman of the Orange County Charter Revision Commission, 1994 – 1996. He has served as a director of Hometown Bank of the Hudson Valley formerly known as the Walden Federal Savings and Loan Association for forty years.
