Artist Statement
When I begin to create, my goal is to produce fine art. I use my natural surroundings, my cameras, and my computer to bring my artistic vision to life.
When I think of a fine art photograph, I think of a work that is both artistically interesting and technically proficient. The goal is to create a piece that can be imbued with the viewers’ emotion, but is not distracting to the eye.
Often when I set out with my camera, I’m not sure for what I am looking. I will travel the area letting my vision catch on different subjects. It is not until I return to my computer with all of my digital captures that I see the specific pieces form together.
I find that I am often drawn to examples of being alone in a crowd. That sense of isolation and yet the hope of making a connection is something I feel powerfully and hope to convey to the viewer.
