Living Word Family Church

I frequent 2 churches with my family and this being one of them. This church isn’t about Religion but a relationship with God. LWFC welcomes any and everyone no matter their background. The energy is explosive and I always leave there with a great message and left feeling amazing. Pastor Steve’s messages always relate to real life so you grasp a clear understanding. Great place to worship!!!

This church is amazing. The people here are so caring. It is very upbeat and charismatic. I have been a part of this church since I was 8 years old, i’m 20 now and still love it!
Praise & Worship: Electric guitars, drums, keyboards, fog machines, colorful lights. We sing modern worship music like Hillsong, Jesus Culture, and Citipointe to name a few. Great talent and great worship.
Sermon: Each week the sermons are powerful and extremely relevant to your everyday life. Pastor Steve is great at teaching what the bible says and not sugar coating it, he tell us the truth.
Teams: There are soooo many different ministries that you can be a part of here, you can truly find your place. The people that go here are wonderful and truly care about each other, it’s a family.
I go to the Garner Campus and there we watch the service on a big screen as it is streamed online. But don’t let that discourage you, we are just as much a part of the church as the main campus. We have great teams and a bangin’ worship team. We are one church with two campuses and they are both great.
If you are looking for a church to be planted in I highly recommend giving us a shot!

I have been attending LWFC, with my wife and 3 children, for about 6 years now. With that said, I believe this will be a fair review for folks trying to find the right fit, because at the end of the day there is a church for you and it is so important you get plugged in. No one is perfect… just like a job isn’t, restaurants aren’t, and your very family isn’t.
The reason we love the church is for a few reasons…
The Word — P Steve teaches the principles of the Bible, not a set of rules. He encourages you to validate his message against the Bible and ask questions. The messages are fun, relevant, and biblically based.
The Praise & Worship — Yes, for some folks it will be loud and others may question the lights and such, but the passion and talent is there. The team loves God and wants to create an atmosphere of energy and Worship. They really are pretty awesome!
Children’s Ministry — Wow! P Jody and his team are doing such an amazing job with the kids. My kids have actually cried if we missed the evening services! When my daughter was a baby, she had severe acid reflux and would vomit so often. One of the team members would bring an extra shirt each week and take care of her like she was his own.
The Community — You will see in almost every post something about diversity and that goes for age, race, gender, and economical. Some folks may complain about the type of music, the way folks dress, or whatever but at the end of the day, LWFC is a come as you are church. This isn’t a country club and there is a spot for everyone! When my wife was pregnant or son in the hospital, so many folks were calling, bringing meals to our home. Church isn’t a Sunday thing, it is a community and LWFC does it right!
Outreach — They have done so many things and continue to be a source of blessings to the community. Past efforts have included thank you cards to the local school teachers, raising funds for the Police & Firefighters, visiting the elderly in nursing homes, 5k run for the troops, turkey drives for the needy, restocking a local food pantry, gas buy downs, and so much more!
Overall — LWFC is trying things. They want to ensure we are relevant and not stagnant. I appreciate that they try to keep us interested in and motivated for the things of God. Some may miss the mark, but they try and the intention/​heart to please God is always there.
Someone once said… if you find a perfect church, you won’t be allowed in. At the end of the day, LWFC is working with a Spirit of excellence, while remaining centered on the Word of God. This is an amazing church and their tagline says it all… Try church again for the first time.

We’ve been coming to LWFC since 2007. It was one of the places on our list to check out when moving from Maryland to North Carolina. From the moment we stepped in we felt so connected. The Praise and Worship is incredible, and equally top notch are the practical and on-​time Messages from Pastor Steve and other Pastors. Our children truly enjoy coming to Kids Church and count down every week till Sunday! We’re so glad to be part of LWFC and to watch what God is doing in the Wake Forest /​Raleigh Community. We have made lifelong friendships and are so thankful to be part of this Church Family.
We love the fact our Church is very diverse and culturally relevant. They truly care about people and relationships. If you are new to the area, or looking for a new Church… come on by and give it a try.

This church is awesome. The diversity is nothing like I’ve seen before. The parking lot had friendly smiles and waived when we entered the parking lot. The greeting team smiled and said good morning. The usher’s found us a seat exactly where we wanted to sit. The praise and worship was great. The pastor delivered a message that was revelant to our daily life. We love this place.

I only attended here once and had a positive experience. I went to the North Campus 11am service. I loved that newcomers could park up front, definitely made us feel welcome. We were looking for a diverse church since it seems all churches in the south are segregated either Black or White. We felt it’s 2012 and wanted a church that reflects America and found it here. There was a mix of Latinos, black people worshiping side by side with white people. If you’re not able to make it to church you can watch it livestream online and the pastor can see who has signed on and can say hi to you from the pulpit — nice touch.
The service went over an hour but starts off with 4 songs sung in the dark (the lights are dim) with a rock band in jeans with the words on the screen behind them. The seats for us had lots of leg room.
The service preached that everything can be healed by the power of prayer in conjunction with tithing. I didn’t understand what the building fund was for when they already have their own church building? That was a separate check box on your donation envelope. They were advertising a potluck superbowl party that you had to pay to attend! I don’t understand why they would charge for an event in their own building???

For now, the jury is still out.
I took Jen up on her open invitation to give the church a try. We were greeted with genuine smiles and handshakes at the 9AM service last week. I’m horrible at remembering names and I don’t know how some of these people do it, but at the end of the service, they made sure to remember who we were.
The message was very practical to daily living within our marriages and how we should treat our spouse. I’ll throw out an «AMEN» to the sermon. I also need to give them a shout out for «doing church» well. It’s well organized, reaches across all generations and it’s appealing to a lot of us hardcore sinners who need God’s grace.
The praise team was a group of pretty darn good musicians. The sound might have been a little deafening at times and even somewhat «muddy» in places; the light and smoke effects might be a tad over the top for ultra-​conservative Christians, and while at first I thought some of it might’ve been for show I noticed the hearts and attitudes of the folks on the stage being what counted. These folks had a heart for praising Jesus. I’m a rocker and a musician, so the music genre was very appealing.
Jen mentions a wide range of diversity and how right she is. That’s another point that appeals to me, personally, because God wants everyone to come to Him, not just a select few of a select age or race.
There were a few things that got to me (which means they sent up some theological red flags in my own mind).
–One is what seemed like a «name it and claim it prosperity message» type of prayer just before the offering buckets were passed. This makes me uneasy and skeptical for various reasons that I won’t get into here.
–Another thing that made both my bride and myself uneasy was during one of the worship songs, making the cross, itself, the object of worship or what I should follow. Maybe it was a case of making the words fit the song or maybe I’m just picking at nits. I’m not into theological debate, I just want to be sure the message is sound and solid in biblical context.
–My last criticism is a lack of a statement of Faith, what the church stands for, what the pastors believe it means to be «saved» and so on. I filled out a survey (online) in which there was a section that gave me the option to ask more questions. That was one of the questions I asked, and I have not received a response, although it’s only been about 4 days since I filled out the survey. They do have a vision statement, but nothing i could find that defines what they believe.
I’d like to attend the next men’s breakfast and see if I can get to know some of the guys a little bit and dig into the Word with them and find out what the church actually believes.
As I said at the beginning, the jury’s still out and this is honest feedback from attending one service, a mostly positive experience, and attempting to find out more information about the church.
Addendum: Several weeks have gone by, and still no reply to my request in regards to «What do you believe?»
