Halo-​halo with Ube ice cream! Yup, this is by far one of the best halo-​halo I had. I don’t really like azuki beans in my halo-​halo but since this was my first time there I had to try the fully loaded halo-​halo, with ice cream of course. I was impress, the azuki beans didn’t drown out the taste of all the other ingredients. They had the right amount for each ingredient. The other thing I like was that you could customize your halo-​halo. My friend got a customize halo-​halo
The staff are very friendly & helpful. They have a variety of ice cream flavors & the staff weren’t hesitate to give us samples.
The price was well worth it. I would recommend my friends & family to try it out.

I was in the area so I was pretty excited to try this place out. I got the guava since I was too chicken to try their unique flavors. It was ok… nothing really wow or special. I think what happened is that I had high expectations which didn’t get met. Service was good. Hopefully next time I can gain the courage to try one of their more exotic flavors…

Located in Seafood city in WaipaHOO! Magnolia ice cream and treats has one of the best halo halo in town! Several choices of corn, lychee or mixed fruit. We opted for the mixed fruit! The mixture of sweet beans & fruit jelly on the bottom with a layer of coconut tapioca on top of that with thinly shaved ice topped with a small scoop of ube ice cream!!! My sugar index probably rose several point but the sugar coma after was well worth it! I want to try the other ice cream flavored for sure! Also this place is near the freeway cut off so not to hard to get to even with the rail construction traffic.

O Magnolia, Magnolia! Wherefore art thou Magnolia?

After having had multiple visits within the last few months, I feel its time I (finally) post my review for this dessert haven on the west side. I am truly thankful to my friend who introduced me to Magnolia because they have such a great variety of desserts, including a plethora of ice cream flavors and halo halo.
LOCATION: Seafood City grocery store in Waipahu. Ample parking available in the shopping center lot. Veer to the leftt as soon as you enter Seafood City.
NOTE: Shop hours are posted on the wall to the left of their space. Small seating area available. Credit cards accepted.
Let’s cut to the chase shall we: The Ube ice cream is amazingly good. Like really, really good. I just love it to be brutally honest. And though they have other selections this would be my first choice. I have also tried the mango and avocado ice cream flavors. Both are good as well. In fact, I just had the avocado flavor over the weekend and I would definitely order that again for sure. Sadly, I have yet to try the halo halo at Magnolia, but at least I have something to look forward to on a future visit.
SERVICE: Very good. The staff is quite friendly and welcoming. They’re prepared to answer any questions you may have, as well as readily offering samples of the ice cream.
BOTTOM LINE: O Magnolia, tho hast found thee. Thou hast the bestest ice cream on thy side of Oahu. I shall return!

I’d love to give this place 5 stars as Magnolia makes a mean ube ice cream, so for the ice cream alone, yes 5 stars. However, this little kiosk/​shop could use some «wow» and functionality. Maybe it was because I went there at 1130am on a Tuesday, but there’s no curb appeal at their counter. The cold display was empty, save for some half filled sago cups. They were out of several flavors, and just didn’t have anything out on display. It’s like they were still stocking for a grand opening or something! But whatevers, I’m familiar with Magnolia products. Their ice cream is good stuffs.
Pros:
–Specializing in tropical and Filipino flavors (Halo-​Halo, Ube, Queso, Mango etc)
–Clean, cute stand alone
–I like the small keiki table
–Friendly workers
Cons:
–Empty display case (for those tagalog speaking… kawawa naman); they advertise on the board 3 – 4 different types of cones you could buy but they have none on display to see.
–Out of several flavors
–Interestingly slow service. Although homegirl was very nice, we were the only people there and it took her forever (like 10 mins) to slang a keiki cup and 1 scoop of ube. Cold Stone and Baskin people can serve 4 – 5 other people in the time it took this gal to serve just us. In this respect the service is HELLA Filipino kind (if you’ve ever been to the Philippines, you know what I’m talking about.) Super, super, nice but not the most efficient. I’d hate to come here on Saturday afternoon…

Not quite sure what to say except that you must be really bad at making ice cream to get low marks in my book. Magnolia is not one of those places.

Magnolia’s $ 3.29 1 scoop of buko pandan ice cream had me swooning. If you know anything about me, you know I love just about all things coconut, and this ice cream was no exception. Perfectly coconutty, and the portion size was generous, as I was struggling to finish (well, this also could be due to the fact that we had just eaten breakfast and andagi, but who’s keeping track?).
Magnolia’s also offers various other tropical ice cream flavors including avocado, jackfruit, and ube as well as your tried and true classics like vanilla and chocolate. Shave ice and halo-​halo are available, too, but this girl here is sticking to her buko pandan!

Being Filipino, I’ve always enjoyed taking my auntie’s Magnolia Ice Cream from her freezer and eating it straight from the carton in the heart of Waipahu. Fortunately, I won’t have to do that anymore due to the fact that Magnolia has their own little ice cream shop inside Manila… er… I mean Seafood City aka The 2^nd Waipahu. This little shop has a range of traditional flavors you can find in the Philippines and I came here on a mission: To get Ube Ice Cream. I love ube ice cream and Magnolia’s ube ice cream is my favorite! Whenever you get Halo-​Halo in Waipahu, you can bet that the ube ice cream is the Magnolia brand that they use.
There are other flavors as well and I haven’t gotten to try all of them… yet. My goal is to definitely try something different each time I visit. The only thing about Seafood City is that parking can be quite packed at times so you may get lucky if you find parking right away.
The ube ice cream is smooth and flavorful. I was confused when they also had a Taro flavor because whenever I describe Ube, I always related it to Taro. But they are indeed 2 different flavors and are quite distinguished from each other when you sample each flavor as ube is much sweeter.
This place takes credit cards and I will definitely come back. Magnolia Ice Cream is a great place to chill-​out on those hot Leeward days or a great hangout spot while you’re waiting for relatives to go grocery shopping. Mabuhay!

Ube ice cream, halo halo, shave ice, shakes, and more! This was my second time here and only my second time ever eating Ube flavored anything.
I can tell you right now, I’ve discovered a love for Ube! The last time I was here I didn’t know if I would like it so I ordered a Keiki scoop and this time ordered 2 scoops! Maybe that was too much lol might have to just go with one next visit.
You can ask the servers for a sample of any and all the flavors if you like. From the regular Ube, Thai tea, to the young coconut and old stand byes like strawberry and chocolate. The ice cream is rich and creamy. Guess we have been lucky there hasn’t been a line the two times we came to get our sugar fix.
Seating is right in front of the register, plastic chairs and tables. Even a few kids tables with short chairs for the young ones. Here’s a tip, go to Red Ribbon right next to Magnolia and get a Butter Mamon sponge cake, put some ice cream on it and take a bite. Heaven. I wish I could tell you I hated Magnolia and the deliciousness that is Ube but I can’t. I can see weight gain if we make this a regular trip.

Exotic ice cream flavors like Ube, Macapuno, Ube with Macapuno, Corn & Cheese flavor?! Yes please!!!
I just recently discovered Ube and Macapuno ice cream. I have no idea how I lived without them my whole life!!!
Last night, I went on an ice cream double date! My boyfriend just discovered Ube ice cream when we came here for the first time a couple weeks ago. This time, he went all out and got a double scoop! I decided to get a single scoop of Macapuno, which is young, sweet coconut. When the boyfriend got his ice cream he was blown away! It was 2 GIANT scoops of ice cream! (At $ 5 for 2 scoops, we got our money’s worth!) He was only able to eat one scoop! My single scoop ($ 3) of ice cream was huge as well! I only ate half of it! What ice cream shop gives that much ice cream?! Crraaazzzy! It was definitely twice the size of a regular scoop at any other ice cream parlor.
The other couple got a single scoop of Thai Tea and a cup of halo halo. They both enjoyed theirs and miraculously finished allll of their dessert!
As for the exotic flavors, just try the ones you think are weird and you might be pleasantly surprised. The workers are more than willing to let you try the flavors. I tried the corn and cheese flavor and it actually wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I have no idea how to explain it so you need to just try it!

Two words: Lava Lychee! Don’t ask, just get it!
Located in the Waipahu Town Center shopping center (or whatever it’s called, the one at the end with Longs), look for the semi-​new Seafood City grocery store. Magnolia is located inside and carries different types of ice creams and treats like ube and mango ice creams, halo halo, shave ice and more. I’m not sure if Magnolia is an actual brand from the Phillipines but it seems like what I’d image them to have. =)
I love their «Lava Lychee» dessert. It’s most similar to halo halo but with a lychee twist. It has lychee jelly, lychee mochi and lychee popping balls on the bottom, topped with lychee shave ice and then lychee ice cream. They also top it with azuki beans but I don’t get those. It’s served in a tall cup with a cover on top and spoon sticking out. They told me to mash everything together so the ice cream mixes with the shave ice.
This is such a refreshing treat and the mix of ice cream and shave ice — yum! (Not like this is a new concept to us but the mashing it up made a big difference!
Runs about $ 5 for this dessert and it’s a decent quantity. About 6 tables or so right in front of the ice cream area. Ample parking in the center’s parking lot and easy access right back onto the freeway.

I was clearly the ONLY customer STANDING right in front of the ice cream case next to where the iPad that the server takes your order w and cashes you out. This guy walks up beside me waiting and when the server is done w her order she replies to him KNOWING I was the next customer.
That was truly a wrong move on both their parts

A magnolia ice cream shop… ooowwee got me weak in the knees!
I’ve been buying magnolia brand ice cream for years! Why is this the first time I’m finding out about this place?! Moving from Kalihi was hard being that I was moving the Indian store (located by kapalama canal) that sold magnolia ice cream for a good price.
While checking out my Unilocal friends activities I notice a familiar name… Magnolia Ice Cream… really??? Oh, Lyla D. Thank you for checking in and lighting up my life! Now I HAD to go and see if this was real. please be real!
Arriving at Waipahu Shopping Center I’m acting like a kid anxious to get out of the car and into Chuck E. Cheese. I’m looking and looking, where is it? We park and walk towards the one area we could not see before parking. We didn’t see it. Walking back, the heavens opened and AAAAHHHH… we see the large writing «MAGNOLIA». I’m speed walking into Seafood City like a woman on a mission!
It’s a small little shop located inside of Seafood City. The have a cute colorful seating area. Everything is brightly colored including their ice cream! I’m in reading the flavors with a smile from ear to ear. Avocado, mango, mascapone (spelling), many more and of course ube!
I opted for the Mahalo-​halo with ube. I have to say their halo halo is fantastic! The fruit jellies and azuki beans are in perfect proportion to the smooth ice and condensed milk… simply irresistible! So good, I was back again within two days!
⁴⁄₅ stars being they have a single ice machine which backs up orders. I notice people here buy four or more the halo halo. I was behind a lady who ordered 4 and another who ordered 8. All I wanted was one. As I waited and watched them walk away with their purple and white treasures I could help but smile knowing I would be having my piece of heavenly goodness because they were finally out of line *wink*

By far the BEST HALO HALO EVER! and I’ve tried just about even place imaginable for them from maxxs, golden coins, jolibee and Dave’s ice cream and this place is not even in completion with the others.
They are located inside of seafood city as you enter the store they will be on the left side. They have chairs and tables for you to enjoy them but it gets really crowded so don’t be surprise if there aren’t any seating. This place also serves regular ice cream cones and cups for you non halo halo people (also known as losers) jk!
Not sure what the prices are but the last week I came here to pick up 4 halo halo, 1 with extra scoop of ice cream, 1 Keiki cup and 1 single scoop for about $ 33 dollars. I usually don’t everything that’s in the halo halo because off the beans and such but this one I can clean the cup and suck every ounce of it out. It’s simple and yet so freaking good! There’s jello, coconut gel, banana, red bean and etc. shaved ice with condensed milk and top with your choice of ice cream. I usually get 2 scoops because I can’t decide for the life of me between ube and the buko pandan (green ice cream) taste like coconut.
Luckily I don’t live close enough to go every week otherwise I would expand. Seriously if you haven’t tried halo halo yet I recommend you have your 1^st here. It’s not to overwhelming with all the different ingredients.
Only drawback of this place is that it gets super super busy and you can wait for as long as 20 – 30 minutes. They should have like a better execution, I’ve seen the line about 10 people deep but still everyone waits. That just tells you something that it’s worth waiting for.

Corn and cheese. Avocado. Cashew. These are not just ingredients for a healthy salad. These are also some of the flavors of ice cream you’ll discover at Magnolia Ice Cream. You can also try jackfruit, ube (purple yam), and buko-​pandan (coconut and pandan). They still have your typical chocolate, strawberry and vanilla ice cream flavors. Their ice creams are soft and extra milky and creamy. If you’re familiar with classic filipino cold desserts, you’ll know what halo-​halo and maiz con hielo (corn with ice) are. If not, give it a try!
You can find Magnolia Ice Cream in Seafood City, along side Valerio’s, Jollibee and Red Ribbon. There’s a few tables and chairs to sit on and enjoy your frozen treats.
Ice cream cups come in 3 sizes (keiki, 1 scoop and 2 scoops). Typically, 1 scoops come with a choice of 1 flavor ice cream only. But with so many good flavors, its too hard to pick just one!

Magnolia Ice Cream is a Filipino Ice Cream manufacturer that now has a factory in California. Most Asian food stores on Oahu carry at least a few of Magnolia Ice Cream flavors.
This Seafood City Magnolia Ice Cream, Halo Halo and Shave Ice Counter is a new concept. It’s good and I loved it!
Halo Halo: This is a classic Filipino dessert that can be found in almost any Filipino Restaurant. In fact, it is served at 3 separate places in Seafood City! First the Seafood City Grill, the in store Jollibee fast-​food restaurant and now The Magnolia Ice Cream counter. Question is, what was the Magnolia Halo Halo like?
Magnolia’s Halo Halo: Now I heard on TV that the Magnolia Halo Halo was made of all fresh ingredients. Nothing from a jar or a can. So I knew this was going to be a bit different. It had very finely shaved ice filling the cup (vs. more traditional coarsely ground snow cone ice) and a scoop of ube ice-​cream on top and the fresh ingredients on the bottom. There was no sweetened condensed milk detected.
Halo Halo Verdict: I liked it! Once the fine ice melted a bit and the contents liquified slightly it was very cool, delicious and fresh tasting. Personally I preferred it to the more heavy traditional style. My companions weren’t so sure though. But they sort of liked it too. They preferred the more traditional style.
Tropical Ice Cream: I counted 18 tropical flavors plus vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. You can get a mini spoon taste of any of these flavors. The avocado flavor is quite amazing. It is worth a taste test for sure. I would never have imagined this being good. You can get one or two scoops in a cup or in a waffle cone.

Service: friendly and quick! Nice little seating area with a kid sized table too. Free samples are encouraged.
Five stars from me because I loved it. The ice cream doesn’t get any better anywhere. I know some will debate the Halo Halo. This is fresh tasting and completely legit in my book and worth trying.

LOCATION: the town of Waipahu, on the Island of Oahu.
If Oahu is shaped like a triangle, Kaneohe is towards the top; Waikiki is on the right; then Waipahu (Leeward side) is on the left. It is a drive from Honolulu and the Windward side, but it is so worth it! Enter Seafood City (Supermarket), go to the left, pass Red Ribbon Bakery, and the showcase and counter will be before you get to the wall.
PARKING: plentiful and free at this shopping complex.
SERVICE: quick and helpful. Ask for a sample if you’re not sure. I just went down the line and ordered a couple of flavors each time I visited! After you order and take a number, sit down at the tables and chairs and enjoy the air conditioning and clean, bright environment!
FOOD: The quality of the ice cream plus the unique flavors (such as macapuno, ube, mais queso, jackfruit, mango, and buko salad) put this place at the top of my list for ice cream and halohalo. I enjoy chewing on the soft fruits — reminds me of spumoni — and tasting the tropical flavors.
NOTES: The goodies in the halohalo can fit through the straw, unlike at other shops.
One scoop of ice cream is $ 2.99 — may as well get 2 scoops for $ 4.99.
I haven’t tried the shave ice, coffee, or waffle cones yet, so I will be back for sure!

They have a ton of tropical flavors such as lychee, mango, ube, coconut, buko pandan and etc. I love the buko pandan and macapuno ice cream. It was creamy and tasty.
Shave Ice:
They currently do NOT have shave ice but they will in the future. It is advertised on the menu but it does say unavailable. They do have halo halo.
Price:
Two large scoops of ice cream was less than $ 6. Great price for the amount of ice cream.

We’ve been into Seafood City a couple of times before but on a recent visit, we «discovered» this Magnolia Ice Cream & Treats Shop. This shop is located near the store entrance on the side of the Red Ribbon Bakery. There’s a huge sign that announces this shop, a bright lighted menu board and two freezer cases chock full of their featured ice cream flavors.
The ordering process is simple. Step up to the counter, place your order with one of the 4 friendly counter help, get a numbered receipt and wait for your treat. The flavors are tropical Filipino flavors such as ube (purple yam), langka (jackfruit), mais queso (corn & cheese), macapuno (young coconut sport) and cashew/​jackfruit and several more. We ordered and shared a double scoop of ube and langka ice creams. This premium ice cream costs $ 4.99 for a double scoop (about the size of a large at Ben & Jerry’s) and can be served in a cup, fresh-​made waffle cone or waffle bowl. That’s a deal for these icy treats. You can order a halo halo with your choice of ice cream but most people order the ube ice cream. We haven’t tried the shave ice but looking at other customers, the texture of ice is fairly fine and light.
A LITTLE BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
In the United States, Ramar Foods International, a company founded in 1969 and based in Pittsburg, California, markets its own line of ice cream under the Magnolia trademark «since 1972» using a brand identity similar to that created and used by San Miguel Corporation (SMC). The company has no connection with SMC. In 2012, Ramar Foods International won a trademark infringement case in the United States against SMC. However, SMC was allowed to continue exporting its Magnolia line of butter, margarine and cheese to the US. San Miguel sells its ice cream in the US and Canada under the San Miguel Gold Label brand. Both parties are in the appeals process.
We’re already looking forward to trying more icy treats as Summer is right around the corner. By the way, they accept cash and credit cards.

I had no idea where Seafood City was but I knew I had to get there since it’s home to super creamy Magnolia ice cream.
Located inside the grocery store in Waipahu, which also houses Jollibee and Red Ribbon bake shop, Magnolia’s storefront and seating area is bright and cheery. There are even some smaller sized tables for little ones.
Magnolia ice cream is made from 100% fruit purée and real milk. You can definitely tell by the creamy and thick texture of the ice cream. I love that they offer so many interesting flavors! My kids and I never had flavors like avocado and jackfruit, but we know our chocolate and mango and they were very yummy.
Having never tried halo-​halo before, I discovered I really liked it! Their Mahalo-​halo is a 16oz size and is a mixture of shaved ice and evaporated milk over red beans, gelatin and fruits topped with a scoop of ube ice cream.
The ice creams were all very flavorful and delicious. They also serve shave ice and coffee. The service was excellent and they are very generous with the scoops. A great place for ice cream!
