Kung Pao Wok

Not the best place to eat Chinese. Super expensive! 4 plates costed us $ 50! The quality sucked — I got 2 pieces of beef and 3 pieces of shrimp for my entrée items. Can’t do half and half because the noodles are considered an entrée! Seriously?! You’re better off walking to the lower part of waikele to get some Panda Express.

WORST CHINESE FOOD EVER!
Not even sure if this can be called Chinese food. The eggplant I got was too sweet, seems like they put tons of sugar! The tofu is the worst tofu i have ever tasted in my entire life. They would give you some try outs, and those were ok. However, the rest of the menu is terrible. Go try it then you will know what i’m talking about.

I was super hungry, didn’t wanna eat sushi at the sushi kiosk since I always eat there, decided to try out Kung Pao Wok today. I hate fake Chinese food and this generic Panda Express seemed like it. I didn’t order anything from the warmers because idk how long the food has been sitting in there due to the fact they were constantly mixing it around. I must say, they are very pricy but, I can’t complain since it is Waikele shopping center where they rack up the prices due to the tourist. I Ordered a bbq pork soup which was nearly 10 bucks and a lemonade that was 3. I really regret the lemonade because it tastes like acid and water. Waste of my three bucks. My soup. For 10 bucks, the portion was tiny and I could have gotten a bowl of phở for cheaper. The quality of the food? Salty as fuck. The roast pork inside was dry and hard, and the dumpling filling was salty. It’s as if I was eating salty mush. After this experience, idk if I’ll be coming back. The tourist obviously don’t know any better which is why so many of them eat here, they don’t know what real good Chinese good taste like.

Very limited selection of food so if chicken is your thing than this is the place for you. They claim that their bourbon chicken is one of a kind but it tastes just like regular barbecue chicken but was hard. Fried rice was okay but a bit greasy. Marinated pork BBQ was tasty and had that Chinese marinade taste.

Went there and bought the happy hour 6 dollar plate and got what ever was left in the pan, by far the worst food I ever had in my life

If I could give it no stars I would. Over priced, dry and burnt. Why is this place still open?

Tofu and pea concoction was so salty and gross. Fried rice was so hard, dry.
Save your money.

Kung Pao Wok posts about how they feature «premium experience & value» when it’s not. The employees always offer samples to try and get you to buy something from them. A few of the employees try to push you to spend more money. The food is overpriced, and not as great as Panda Express. They give you very little food that tastes like crap. The «smoothies» seemed to be just made from powder. Food is overpriced, unflavorable. For best results when it comes to these types of restaurants, choose Panda Express.

G-​R-​O-​S-​S … I gave them a 2 because at least the roast pork was decent & the counterperson was friendly. If I had a rewind button, I would have ordered all sushi at Sakura’s next door … terrible on all levels … no seasoning, sitting too long in the chafer, and everything was the same color …

One word Terrible…
Over priced, rice was dry no flavor in the noodles and only have one spicy item! Kung paid shrimp and you only get 2 pieces of shrimp with all the veggies

Tastes like dog food. They brought out «Fresh» food right before we got ours and it was awful. I can’t even imagine what the standing food would have tasted like.

Awful awful awful. There was nothing good from the rice, Lo mein, orange chicken or bourbon chicken. Minimal flavor and rubbery tasting. My advice would be to stick with Panda Express

I moved to town a few months ago and recently re-​visited this place for lunch. I’ve got to say, they’ve really gotten pricey. The food at night looks gross as it gets to closing. Sometimes they mix the different foods when there’s a little bit left in one type of entrée. They keep the really old vegetables in the foods and mix it with the new ones. IMO I would not want to buy it.
The way they make the bubble tea is still alright, sometimes my bubble tea isn’t mixed well and it makes the boba at the bottom harden. This place has really gotten worse since the last time I visited.

Even tho I was pretty hungry I was disappointed with the dry and very generic taste. After a few bites I packed it up and walked over to the quick Thai kiosk and enjoyed the curry. I’m not normally picky but they need help from Panda Express.

Never eating here again. Ordered a small portion of noodles and I found a roaches leg in the noodle! I feel sick to my stomach!

The food looks good. That’s about it no taste and over price. The only thing that keeps them here is because not to much places to eat in this area. Yes I will never go back. The two stare is that they give employee discount that works in the mall.

Nice quint restaurant. Clean and new. Given Waikele Premium Outlets just upgraded the whole mall and added beautiful touristy features to make you feel like you’re still in Hawaii while shopping on this hot side of Oahu!
THE FOOD:
So, I ate most of the food because I was hungry. Plus it doesn’t count when they give you very little portions. :)
I ordered the Combo A for $ 8.99. As I mentioned you get VERY little food. There is three compartments in the take out box. The main portion compartment is half filled and spread out thin into one of the smaller compartments to make it look as if you were given a larger portion. But not. You have a choice of fried rice or Lo Mien noodles. I choose the noddles because the fried rice looked dry. The two small compartments is filled with the ‘main’ dish, which for me was my bourbon chx and the mixed veggie. (See photo)
THE TASTE: The noodles and chicken tasted not bad. Given the fact that I LOVE FRIED NOODLES and BBQ’d chx. This was ok. Here’s the kicker. I am allergic to seafood. Their mixed veggies is horrible! It tasted like seafood. Not sure if they were going for the seafood combo mix with veggie taste, but yeah, that didn’t work out for my taste buds.
My son ordered one of their bubble drinks. Mango. It was sweet. Tasted like mango. but VERY powdery. Not smooth at all. I got a bottled drink. Gold Peak Ice Tea. My fav! So that was a 5 star on its own! :)
OVERALL: please eat somewhere else. Portion not worth the cost. Best to eat at your regular Panda Express or Korean BBQ place. You’ll get more bang for your bucks and your taste buds will thank you! ;)

Wow… and NOT in a good way. Just now while waiting in line I got to watch a cook in the back scooping chicken with his bear hands (there might have been a glove on one of them), move utensils around with those same hands, wipe his face with his forearm and then go back to scooping chicken all without once washing his hands. GROSS!!! I got out of line before I ended up with more then I paid for. YUCK!!!

Do not waste your money here! I work across the way and they have made 3 friends of mine sick on 3 seperate occasions! I may have not gotten sick but I can see how my friends did. The last time I went (and won’t be going back) I saw the chef was sick! And the manager never seemed to care as he was wiping his nose, sneezing and cooking. Seriously 8 dollars and the chicken I had was bland and all at. Both times I went there I had little or no actual meat put on my plate. The only thing I bother to eat here is the noodles and even they are inconsistent. For real, walk across the street to pandas this place is so bad. Wish I could go negative stars.

Walked in right at closing– my little boy was waiting patiently while I shopped in Armani Exchange & was kinda heart broken that the place was closing by the time we made it over there. The manager walked out to tell us there were a few boxed up meals that they’d sell to us for $ 5 each– 2 main items and rice. My lil guy bought one, and as we were walking out they handed us another full meal «on the house.»
The food is fresh and the place was very clean. best of all, at closing, the people were so nice to us, which is a rare find these days!
