Aire Conditioner Shoppe

Had two Mitsubishi split systems in need of service. First unit (over 12 years old) had no power; second one (2.5 years) just needed service. Called late Friday and the guys were at my home promptly Monday afternoon.
They (Monte, Kua and Shane) started troubleshooting the older unit first and all of sudden it started working. Monte said must’ve been a loose wire.
Next they took apart and thoroughly cleaned my newer unit which was pretty dirty.
Now both units are working good. Great job on both units guys!
I’ve done business with Neil in the past. We were a little short on funds and he gave me a good price on the newer unit and that’s what mattered. Never had a problem with him; but he is a very «to the point» type of person.

So I called to enquire about having our two units serviced at 4:30 on December 23^rd. We are an existing customer. The website said they were open till 5. Nobody answers so I start to leave a message explaining the situation. The message gets interrupted as Neil picks up the phone and starts screaming at me about all of his units being installed on a roll out chassis, that’s great, I still have no idea why this guy is screaming at me. I ask him why he is yelling, he says he isn’t and that I caught him walking out the door. Okay, well I’m thinking I still need to have my AC units, that you installed, serviced. Tells me they are booked out for months. Conversation over. So I wait until after I’m sure Mr. Personality, who apparently is the owner, is gone and call back leaving a message explaining we would still like to schedule an appointment to have our AC units serviced. No matter the wait. Nobody has ever called me back. At this point I don’t care if they ever do. It’s a shame because the guys that did the initial work were very courteous and professional. Why an owner who clearly is not a people person insists on answering the phone is beyond me, if you are so busy, hire a receptionist. I’m sure you’ll respond with your version of this story as you have on the MANY other posts saying exactly the same thing. I’m sure you are right and we are all wrong, or you could join reality, your call.

Notification one week prior to service provided which allowed for time for a person to be home.
2 split AC units were installed. One serving two bedrooms. Good price for cooling two bedrooms and a living room.
Workers arrived on time, pleasant, professional yet comfortable, like having your brother or uncle working in your home except no yelling!

Don’t let other Unilocal reviews turn you off. Neil may come off as rude and curt because of his New York accent, but he’s just straight business. These guys were the only AC installers I could get to come out to my house during this record-​breaking summer. Junior and his crew were very nice and professional. They were in and out of my house within a couple of hours. I would definitely go with the Aire Conditioner Shoppe again.

This is the 4^th installation these guys have done for different areas in my house and each one has been done with great attention to detail. They are very professional and and my wife and I have been very happy with the results. We highly recommend them.

NO STARS!!! Horrible customer service over the phone. The man whom just answered was very rude. When I told him that he was rude he said he didn’t care and abruptly hung up the phone. When Told That i would Give him a bad Review on Unilocal,he said GO! Sadly, Unilocal decided to edit and remove my UPDATE! I’ll just use other social media to «spread the word» when it comes to local business here in the islands!

This is my second time having The Aire Conditioner Shoppe do replacements for me. They’ve previously replaced 2 room units and today just replaced my split.
Both times the quote was quick, easy and significantly less than what their competitors quoted. Both times they came out in a timely manner and their workers were friendly, professional, and cleaned up after themselves.
As for other reviewers regarding Neil… I never noticed him as rude or unprofessional. He is a little difficult to understand over the phone but he took great care of us and the company takes care of their repeat customers. Perhaps potential customers are upset because they’re desperate for quotes and installations immediately. Do yourself a favor and get your units installed and serviced during the spring BEFORE the heat hits and all HVAC companies are booked solid.

The technicians are good once they get to your house (previous experience) but getting past the attitude from the guy answering the phone is difficult. It was especially frustrating when he gave the «tough s***» answer to my wife when our air conditioner stopped working and I was overseas. After saying he was booked up for a month or more and showing zero concerner compassion, he said nonchalantly that everywhere else is probably full so why bother trying to get the air conditioner fixed for another month. Deal with it.
Great customer service… not. Thanks buddy! I guess when you’re one of the only shows in town you apparently can act that way.

Neal or Neil however you spell it you are the rudest person ever how do you even get business? I asked if you did over the phone estimates, you said no and before I asked how do I get one you hang the phone up. Like seriously?! How do you even make a living doing this!

I’m rating this company with one star mainly because of how rude it’s owner was over the phone. When I called this afternoon, the phone was answered with a «Hello?», I had to ask just to be sure I was calling the right place. He then asked if I wanted an estimate, so I asked if they’d quote over the phone. He quickly replied, «We don’t give phone estimates!», then HUNG UP on me. I called back and mentioned to him that he hung up, and he «claimed» he had another call to answer. He continued to be VERY rude, so I replied with, «Is business that good, where you can treat your customers like sh*t?». He then asked, «Do you want me to send someone over for a free estimate, or what?!». I replied with, «Is there someone else who I can talk to?», then he replied, «I’m the owner!», and hung up.

Quick, easy quoting! Quick scheduling to get us in schedule. Nice employees who check things out to save you money if they can. Quick, reasonable, reliable. Have used them twice in 4 years for 2 different units!

Based on a recommendation, I contacted Craig’s AC. A very polite person answered the phone and scheduled a visit within a week. Craig’s was awesome from beginning to end. Im chillin’ again cheee hooo!

I’ve used the Aire Conditioner Shoppe for over 10 years and have always had good service. Neil is very honest and tries to even help me fix things over the phone to avoid a service call. His teams are always friendly and helpful and Monty does a great job. Would absolutely recommend the Aire Conditioner Shoppe. Nice to have a company you can trust.

They get the job done right the first time and will beat any price!!! Neil, the owner, who has over 25 years of experience in Hawaii’s industry is awesome. He’s direct and straight to the point, doesn’t waste your time and even though their company is beyond busy. He always seems to fit us in as early as possible.

If I could zero stars I would. The guy who runs this place is a TOTAL scammer. He just tried to sell me an AC unit a couple days ago that was deemed «totally obsolete» by its manufacturer in Feb of 2005. Asking price was around $ 1000.00 for this obsolete machine. I’m pretty sure he was also involved in a ‘hustle’ wherein he and a building manager were exploiting tenants in an affordable housing project by collecting (disposal fees charged) and then re-​selling AC units to new tenants as if they were new. Also if you read the privacy policy on his website he is actually one of those people that gives (prob sells) your email address to internet spammers. Bottom line: ZERO PROFESSIONAL INTEGRITY. I can’t believe his BBB rating is what it is, that’ll probably change in the near future.

I’ve had nothing but great experiences with the Aire Conditioner Shoppe. I’ve received next day service on three occasions. Neil has been great to work with over the phone. He’s straight and to the point, which I like.
I even had an issue with one of the units, that was not a fault of the company and we were able to come a solution that worked out great!

No stars given to the aire conditioner shoppe. They installed split duct units and would never service them. They refused to answer calls. Then found out they installed them not up to electrical code! Do not use this company!

I had an absolutely TERRIBLE experience with the Air Conditioner Shoppe! I first phoned their office on November 25^th. I spoke to Neil and explained that I would like someone to come to my house to give an estimate for installing 3 split A/​C units. He said that he couldn’t make an appointment that day, and that Rick would call me back the following week. He was very gruff (almost rude) on the phone, which gave me a bad feeling about proceeding, but I still gave him my contact info.
Rick phoned me the following Monday and left a voicemail. We played «phone tag» a couple of times before I reached him. I just spoke with him today (December 6^th). Their policy is to not set a time for an appointment. He even said it’s like the cable guy — you have to agree to leave at least a 3-​hour window open. I explained that won’t work for me, that I just need an estimate for work I’d like done, so I’m not able to leave an entire morning or afternoon open to wait for him.
After getting off the phone with him, I called Neil back. I explained that I’m interested in about $ 10,000 worth of A/​C units installed, and I’d like to set up a specific time to meet with someone. He refused. He was EXTREMELY rude — talked over me and said he’s not interested in the business if I’m not willing to do what they want.
Wow! I’m very glad to find out now that this is absolutely not the kind of company that I want to do business with. It’s not like this is the only company that installs A/​C; I’ll definitely take my business elsewhere.
