Alii Nui Sailing Charters

My husband and I went on this cruise tour for a morning snorkel. We can’t say enough about this boat and the crew. From the van and driver that picks you up to drive you to the boat, to the crew and the captain, Captain Morgan! Yes, that is his name. He is so much fun as well as being a great captain. The entire crew goes above and beyond to make sure that you are happy and comfortable. They even cleaned the salt water spray from our glasses. The breakfast and lunch they served far exceeded my expectations also. Book a tour on this boat and you will not be disappointed. We will do this again when we return to Maui.

What a fun 3 hours on this excursion. Fun people with food and drinks.
The crew was fantastic friendly funny and the ladies were very lovely. My wife said the guys were handsome and hot.
They were such a friendly group to go out with. They wanted to make sure we were safe first and foremost. After we were safe they wanted us to have fun.
We took the 3 hour snorkel trip that left at 1pm.
We saw about 10 different whales on our trip out to the snorkeling site. Then had a good time snorkeling and everyone saw fish, an octopus and lots of other things.
On the return trip we got lost in whale soup. There were 9 whales in one pod. And lots of singles and doubles. One group of whales were within 30yards of the boat. Such a close encounter of the massive and incredible animals.

My husband’s company took us on a snorkeling excursion a few weeks ago with this company and it was top notch! All of the employees were very helpful, friendly, fun, knowledgeable, and genuinely seem to love their jobs! They served us breakfast and lunch and both were delicious. The boat was beautiful and well maintained and we had a great time!

Amazing experience, wonderful professional crew, Delicious food, drinks, impeccable vessel. Captain Morgan was amazing and entertaining, loved the whole crew, especially our driver Oscar was on time, courteous, professional! Worth every cent and more!

Outstanding! Been on a few other boats in Maui all were good, but this one is THE one. The boat was clean and roomy, breakfast and lunch was great and kept coming, but hands down the best feature and most memorable was the crew, awesome folks that appear to enjoy what they do, more than handle their responsibilities, (precision and teamwork, these guys /​girls were working it!) GREAT is an understatement, AWESOME falls short.

A friend of mine recommended I make this a priority activity. My boss was going to Hawaii (a lil while ago) and I told her about it I now regret telling her to take this activity. She had a horrible experience! She said half the staff was very nice and the other half was extremely rude! When it came to snorkeling someone was soooo rude! It was her first time snorkeling and he almost yelled/​barked saying «what you don’t know how to put mask on». My understand is most activities are made for tourist! Not everyone knows how to snorkel or how to put a mask on so they need to explain and be nice about it and understand not everyone lives on a beach to know everything there is to know about snorkeling. I know when I’ll be in Hawaii I will not be wasting my money at this place. I go to Hawaii to relax and have a nice time not be put down in a way bc I don’t know how to apply a mask.

While my most recent experience was not all that I had hoped, I received a call from their general manager the next day (which I missed) but he was persistent in following up to further explore what happened on our cruise. When he finally reached me, he apologized for letting our group down and we talked for 15 minutes about things he wished the captain of the boat and crew had done during our trip to make things right. I expect he will use this as an opportunity for further training.
It is clear to me that these guys run a professional operation and their reputation for service and quality is well deserved.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or to sail with them again in the future.

Outstanding boat and the crew where amazing. Living on Maui we have had a chance to go on almost every whale, snorkel tour out there and this was easily the best one we have been on.

What an amazing experience! My husband and I booked the 3 hour snorkel tour and loved every minute. Honestly, I felt that we got way more than what we paid for on this trip. They picked us up from our hotel, fed us as soon as we stepped onto the boat, and after snorkeling, fed us again! There were unlimited alcoholic drinks as well following the snorkel. All the crew members wet extremely friendly, accommodating, and knowledgable. I would so do this again!

Book the perfect evening! We booked the Sunset Sail on December 23^rd. This is a first class charter. The price includes picking you up at your hotel and dropping you off. I am not sure anything can surpass an evening that included sailing on a catamaran, glorious sunset, full moon, lighthouse, amazing food, wonderful cocktails, and an incredibly friendly staff! Thanks to our captain, Nick, driver Savanah, server Gray, Trish, Beau and anyone else I have omitted. It is obvious that everyone on board loves their job. Highly, highly recommend this sail!

Had a great dinner on this Beautiful catamaran. Plenty of selection of food to eat the crew was awesome I highly recommend this dinner cruise !

I was a little disappointed when my afternoon snorkel got canceled, however the company called and rescheduled us for the following day on a deluxe snorkel that was AMAZING! I would deft book this snorkel on my next visit back to Maui, we went to two different spots, and being a poor swimmer I was highly nervous however the staff provides numerous floatations devices along with the snorkeling gear. Breakfast was provided, and a lunch along with an open bar. They provide transportation to and from the docking location for free along with beach towels and sunscreen. At the end of the day aloe is provided and they even clean your sunglasses! This ship it self is beautiful with lots of room to lay out or sit, and has clean bathrooms.

So much fun, truly a luxurious experience. Very friendly crew. Didn’t see any turtles but had a lot of fun snorkeling and exploring!

We did the snorkeling trip to Molokini, or what was supposed to be to Molokini. For our trip it was so windy that we were not able to go to Molokini, which at first I was very bummed about. They took us instead to a broken down wharf were coral started to grow on and where tons of turtles loved to hang out, it was awesome and beautiful. They were going to take us to a second location but it was just way to windy to do anything. Instead they opened up lunch and the bar and played music and we all just had a great time. A pod of dolphins came swimming by and we followed them for awhile. This trip could have ended up being a total downer if it wasn’t for the amazing staff that turned a difficult situation into a fun rememberable day! All the food was great also and they treated everyone there really well!

Upon our first visit to Maui, my friends and I booked the 3 hour afternoon turtle snorkel trip with Alii Nui based on a recommendation from friends who had gone before. From first stepping on to the boat to returning back to the harbor, this was a truly special and first class experience that I would recommend to anyone. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, drinks and appetizers are great, the ride to the snorkel spot was beautiful and the snorkeling itself was top notch. Everything you could think of needing is provided to you during your trip. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and this ranked among our favorite activities during our week on Maui. Excellent deal for the price!

Thank you Alii Nui!!! We had the most amazing experience! This boat and crew are the very best. From the moment you walk aboard the amazing 65′ cat, you are treated like royalty.
We planned to go snorkeling the whole trip, but ended up on an amazing dive before snorkeling! Thank you Jordan (scuba instructor) for the great dive!
Once back aboard they serve an incredible lunch and the crew won’t let your drinks run out. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we scheduled a sunset cruise.
Alii Nui was the MOST fun we had while on Maui. We are already planning out next Maui adventure next year and we are planning to sail with Alii Nui 3 to 4 times on our next vacation.
The crew even gave us great dining tips on where to eat on our other planned days in Lahaina (Hint: check out Mala tavern) and amazing banana bread at Aunty Sandy’s on road to Hana and incredible lunch just outside of Hana at Bruddah Hutts.

PROS: Great staff, good food, AMAZING views.
CONS: you need to make sure you don’t get seasick. The ride is VERY smooth, but we had a woman who had issues on our sail.
This is without question the best thing we did in Maui and worth every single penny. You MUST do the sunset sail dinner cruise. They PICK YOU UP AT YOUR HOTEL. Tip: book it at your hotel.

How hard is it to have a 5-​star AVERAGE on Unilocal?!?REALLY HARD. People start to have expectations and when they aren’t met, people like to state their opinions. That’s ok — it’s what Unilocal is about. Point is that Ali’i Nui is THAT awesome to have 90 (now 91) excellent reviews.
We went out on a six year old boat that couldn’t have been more perfect for our day trip (the Deluxe). Yes you start early in the morning to do this, but before you know it it’s 8am and you’re swimming with da fishes! Then you can get back on the boat and start drinking … at 9am in the morning!
The crew was super great: Sarah was wonderful to our daughter; Jordan chatted us up quite a bit and later cleaned our sunglasses, Trent was very nice. Honestly, all of our crew were so helpful and friendly, I would love to meet up with them afterwork and ask them about their lives and the job.
This tour was the best snorkeling boat tour we have ever been on (we’ve done another tour in Maui, plus one in Kona, Kuaui and PVR, Mex). Great boat, great food and great crew!

Worth every penny.
We decided that, at 8pm, we wanted to go on a snorkeling jaunt the following day and took our concierge desk to task. We were presented the options for snorkeling and picked the Alii Nui. We wanted to sail, we wanted a more luxurious boat with the best crew, we wanted to visit Molokini and one other spot, and we wanted to be fed well. At $ 175 a person it wasn’t cheap. However, it was worth it.
We booked to late to secure transportation, which apparently is included. No sweat. We arrived at Maalea Harbor, signed some waivers, and were off.
The Alii Nui is a sail boat with a motor. It can accommodate up to 109 people or something, but there were only 32 other guests. We were given a hot breakfast including eggs (not runny hotel eggs, real eggs) and met the crew of seven. We got a safety briefing and started our journey to Molokini, which took about a half hour to 45 minutes. Along the way we saw whales up close — directly in front of the boat. Once in a lifetime.
Upon arrival at Molokini, we were given everything we might have needed: snorkels and masks, fins, sun lotion, flotation belts, rash guards. GoPros were available to rent, and the boat employed a photographer/​videographer who was in the water the entire time and sold a CD at the end. Snorkeling at Molokini was really awesome. Coral was beautiful, tons of fish. We spent about an hour or 90 minutes there.
We then went to what was billed as Turtle Town. I learned thereafter that lots of books and lots of concierges refer to everything as Turtle Town. We went to a cove about a half hour north of Maalea, where the surf was a little rougher, but the snorkeling was still good. No turtles though.
At some point, lunch was served and the bar was opened. All throughout the day there were plenty of snacks.
This was the highlight of our trip. Easily. To give some frame of reference, we also did a sailing trip to Lanai, a helicopter tour, the road to Hana. This was the best. The staff was super friendly and they all seemed to really enjoy showing us the ocean.
