I have gone to suffolk obgyn for 4 years now. They have scheduled unnecessary colposcopies, given extreme attitude (specifically the head nurse Cara or Carla) and withheld birth control as a means to get me to pay for unnecessary procedures. I know now the these procedures are unnecessary because I have switched to another obgyn and they were extremely surprised about how many operations were scheduled and the way the nurses withheld my birth control.
The nurses also refuse to let you speak to the doctors unless you come in and pay the copay.
Overall they just want to get as much money as possible, and disregard their patients wants and concerns.

I made the mistake of visiting here one time only. I came in for a pregnancy confirmation after a home test came out positive. I should have known what kind of place I was going to, after it literally took 20 minutes to make an appointment at my preferred office (since they have several) at a time that would work for me. At the time, I did not have health insurance, which I told both the receptionist and nurse practitioner I saw. As I was a private pay patient, I paid everything up front prior to seeing anyone and was assured everything was fully settled. The visit itself was quick and not very informative, other than to confirm I was indeed pregnant. I was told I would be receiving a packet of information, since this was my first pregnancy and I was completely clueless on everything from foods I couldn’t eat to medications I was allowed to take. I was given no such packet, just a bag with a folder about a cord banking seminar that had already passed and a few prenatal vitamin samples. A couple weeks later I received a $ 500 bill in the mail for a medical test that I DID NOT even know had been performed. That’s how bad the communication is there. After several arguments, I was able to get the bill reduced, which was still unfair, in my opinion, so I paid it and ran for my life. I found a new doctor and the difference between my appointments there and my new office are night and day– I didn’t realize a good doctor would spend time in their office with you after an exam, making sure all your questions are answered and you feel comfortable and knowledgeable about everything. To add insult to injury, today I receieved a call that I had to provide suffolk ob gyn with my credit card information to pay a fee to release the medical record from that one appt to my new dr. Stay far far away from them if you can. I couldn’t give them a lower recommendation.
