Description

Specialties

We specialize in old fashioned, high quality candies and chocolates. Home of Brian’s Endangered Turtles in 16 different varieties! The Chocolate Escape has a full espresso bar, ice cream bar, imported chocolates, and a great variety of gifts as well as Native American Sterling Silver and Turquoise jewelry.

For groups (buses are welcome), we offer a variety of options:

We do education tours with our 70 foot long «The Origins of Chocolate» wall mural. By appointment we will do FREE educational tours for Senior learning groups, and organized school groups.

Also, by reservation for groups, we do chocolate tastings or wine and chocolate pairings along with the educational aspect and use of the mural. These are offered by reservation only, and for a minimal fee.

We donated our basement to River Junctions Art Council (www, rjac.org) for use as an art gallery when shows are scheduled. Visit their website for more info.

Currently open Thursdays through Mondays at 10am. Scheduled bus tours and groups may be scheduled Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

History

Established in 2006.

The Chocolate Escape was first developed as a small gift shop in our lobby for guest check-ins at Eagles on the River, which is a property management company that rents condos, lofts, and hotel rooms in the Wabasha area. As popularity and demand grew, we moved to a much larger building at 152 Main St W., and added a full espresso bar, ice cream, and gifts in 2007. We continue to add new products and grow. Our current location offers far more products, tours, and seating indoors and out with spectacular views of the Mississippi River right out our back window.

Meet the Business Owner

Brian Y.

Business Owner

I have been working in food service since the mid 1970’s, and attended culinary school in the late seventies. I moved into management and sales, and in 2006 opened our own business. I find working with people in our shop very fun and rewarding. Working in confections allows me to have more fun and be creative in the things I make. I specialize in homestyle, old fashioned, high quality chocolates and confections, made on site or brought in from around the world. I have visited cacao plantations, and am considering further expansion in the products and services we offer.
