The office staff is horrible. They are not friendly at all and all they care about is collecting the money and overcharging you. And if you need a simple refill, they make you come in every time even when you were just there and needed to get something else, or switch it. I will not ever come back here again. They also will try to overcharge you.

Great place, Dr Newman and Erin take time to listen and address your concerns. His back office staff are true medical professionals. Unlike other Medical offices they will always find time to see you. His front office staff is very helpful and able to multi task with efficiency and promptness. One thing is Erin could get rid of the desk top size laptop and switch to a tablet device, that laptop must need a car battery to keep it going. I would highly recommend this office to anyone seeking medical attention. Good people great care.

They let me schedule an appointment for my son for the flu shot and when my husband went to take him THEY DIDN’T HAVE IT. They charged us 25 bucks copay for a visit where they did NOTHING. This place is trash. They charged my husband an ADDITIONAL 25 bucks to fill out a paper for my son’s daycare which is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Don’t waste your time here they do not care about your families well being. They only care about money.

We waited about an hour today but got good care from the doctor (Newman). Just got stitches out of my daughters arm. He was quirky but got the job done

Staff not knowledgable about office policies (whether or not they carry/​administer whooping cough and flu vaccines). Got a healthy dose of right-​wing politics from the Fox News playing in the waiting room, to the DR.‘s anti-​Clinton health initiatives speech (that’s why they don’t do vaccines). Not coming back.

I have been Dr. Newman’s patient since before Cardinal Medical opened. This is a whole bunch better than where he was before. The entire staff here has been super nice to work with. P.A. Erin is a wonderful addition to the staff. All of them have gone above and beyond to accommodate my visits even when irregular and unscheduled. They CARE !

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Dr. Newman and his staff. They have always accommodated me, even when I walk in without an appointment. They’re care is reminiscent of old fashioned family doctor type care. You don’t have to always go here and there for your care. I have never felt rushed and am very happy with the care I receive here!

My family has been seeing Dr. Newman for 7 years now. He has even been with us through a hospital stay. He is a really down to earth, well informed doctor. I feel very comfortable with talking to him about anything. Anyone else I’ve talked to has said great things about him as well.

As sad as it sounds, it brings me comfort knowing I’m not the only one experiencing the worst customer service and beside manners with Cardinal Medical Center. I’ve been going here for about a year now, and every single time I leave the office, I leave extremely upset. Every time I’ve been in, the receptionists are rude when I ask questions. When I call, they are selective when calling back.
When working with Dr. Newman, he has never taken the time to talk to me to find out what’s going on. He is very flighty and seems as though he always has something better to do than his job. in the four total visits I’ve seen him, I’ve never felt as thought I was a valued patient or that he cares about my well being.
When working with his former Physician’s Assistant Erin, she was always nice, but she also never seem to care. When asking questions about my health, she never had a straight answer. When going in for strep throat or a UTI, she couldn’t ever give me a straight answer if I had it or not.
The last few times I’ve been in for a visit, they have been horrible experiences. Almost two month ago I was bit by a dog on my face, then on the way to the hospital was in a car accident. Naturally I scheduled an appointment with my doctor to look at my dog bite and to make sure I was ok after the accident. I also felt I had a UTI at the time, so I let that be known. During this visit Dr. Newman no longer had a PA so it seemed as though he was the only doctor on staff. He did not give me proper attention, saw 2 – 3 other people in between seeing me, and couldn’t recall when I would ask him a question about something we had just discussed. He did an exam to check what was going on because I had been in numerous times for what I believed to be UTIs. He said I was ok but took a culture. Sadly, no one bothered to tell me I needed to have a separate visit to see him about the car accident and he brushed off the fact that I told him I was in an accident. A non-​descriptive letter was sent to me later saying I was fine.
About a month later, I went back to see the doctor for a checkup on my dog bite, to ask about my car accident injury, and to see him for yet again another UTI… During this visit I found out I should have scheduled a separate appointment for the car accident. The receptionist again was very rude about it, more condescending than anything.
When Dr. Newman came in, he asked about what was going on. I told him I had UTI symptoms. After looking back on my charts he then decides to let me know I have never had a UTI in all the instances I have come in the past thinking I had a UTI. Naturally I get very upset with this news. Is it not standard for a doctor to let you know and get you back in to find out the problem?
So for several months no one bothered to let me know what my results were and that I wasn’t being treated for the correct issue. I let him know in a calm manner that I was upset. He then proceeded to get defensive, told me its my responsibility to tell him my symptoms, and was being extremely condescending. At the point I began crying and said, «You’re the doctor, its your responsibility to find out what’s wrong with me. I’m not feeling like a valued patient.» Right after this, he got up, was extremely rude to me and said «Then go see a specialist!» and walked out. He never took into account how much pain I was in, and he didn’t bother to look at my dog bite. After this issue, they still made me pay for my visit when the doctor did nothing!
If you are looking for a doctor or an office that cares about their patients, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO VISIT. All they care about is money.

Absolutely the worse office ever. The Office staff is very unprofessional and non caring. They are out to get as much money as they can. They do not care about you as a patient. My son has gone there for years only because he is very healthy and only needs a rx refill. They had us coming every ³⁄₆ months so he could write a rx. Finally one day he said why are they making you come here for a refill this is crazy. He wrote the rx but didn’t give me my money back. I called him for a 30 day supply of my sons meds since he is away at college until he comes home and can come in for one of their bogus exams and he refused. My son had to drive 4 hours from spring break just so they can weigh him and take his temp. Are you kidding me oh and I forgot to add it cost me $ 100 for the visit and Dr. Newman didn’t even check him out, no blood work, no ekg nothing for my $ 100. This practice is such a joke. I will be finding my son a real doctor that will at least look him in the eye when he comes in the room. If you need anything other than someone to write a prescription this is not the place for you.

The receptionists are the rudest women I have EVER met! They have hung up on me more than once. Not only that, but they are completely NOT intelligent whatsoever. I asked for a refill on a med. They did the refill but it was not noted anywhere and I was not advised. They didn’t even know that the refill I want was already faxed to Target which btw has NEVER been my pharmacy. Not knowing this they said okay but you have to make an appointment before in order to get the refill.
Upon arrival to the appt. the practitioner comes in trying to accuse me of getting the med from 2 doctors. They didn’t even know their own office DID send a refill to Target and she was accusing me of getting that specific refill rx from a DIFFERENT doctor! Talk about LACK of communication… geez
ABSURD. They didnt even know my RX was already refilled by them and ready. STUPID
I came to see Dr. Newman monthly and he is a chill guy but a little tooo chill as a doctor. Seems like he hates his life and his bedside manner sucks. He smokes cigs like they are going out of style and yet is an ADDICTION specialist! Shouldnt HE know how to end his ADDICTION to nicotine. I mean come on!
He doesn’t give a crap about me, the patient, he just wants to get me done so he can relax at his desk or smoke a cig until next appt. He’s like the doctor «what do you want» and you say «whatever med you want» and he gives rx he doesnt givv a FUk
THe only positive thing about this place is the nurses that call you in and check your weight and take your blood pressure.
Both Dr. Newman, and the entire administrative, and reception staff deserves no stars in my opinion. I mean seriously, the environment, the receptionists, it all will drive you nuts and I DO NOT recommend anybody to go here. THE WORST experiences with a medical center in my entire life. Smoke the next cig on me Newman…

Dr. Newman and his staff are amazing. I have been seeing him for over 2 years and he has helped me through so much. I relocated to Orange County temporarily and still made the drive to see him. Won’t be changing unless I move to another state!!! That is how good they are. Thorough, well spoken, understanding and caring!
Highly recommend them.

Over the last few months I’ve been seeing Dr. Newman and couldn’t be happier. Unlike most doctors I’ve seen, he really knows what he’s talking about and has the answers to a lot of questions that have until now, been unanswered. He’s extremely attentive to my medical needs, as well as very friendly. I highly recommend him!

I’ve seen Dr. Newman in the past but it’s been a couple years. He was ok. I prefer natural remedies, however this time I knew I should seek medical attention for a 7 days sore throat that was advancing to a pounding head and fatigue. Called and they got me a same day appointment. Great! Except when I get there the receptionist sees my Medi-​Cal card and says Oh, we stopped taking that a year ago. YOU LOOKED UP MY FILE WHEN WE MADE THE APPT ON THE PHONE… YOU DIDN’T THINK TO CHECK MY INS AND LET ME KNOW BEFORE I CALLED OFF WORK AND DROVE OUT THERE??? And how hard would it have been to send patients like me (who you drop) a letter a year ago when you made that decision?
Medi-​Cal gave me zero hope of getting set up with a new doc and being seen same-​day, so off to the ER I went, where I spent 4 hours. Unprofessional!!!

So, I have been seeing Dr. Newman and his PA Erin since April 2014 because I got married and my husband seen him before. I also brought my daughter here several times. Once maybe twice a week I have been in his office lately. I have always thought of them both as a little weird and kinda questioned myself and my husband if this was the right group or not for our family.
Well, back in June I think it was, I had talked to Erin about my weight. I was sick of being over weight and trying all kinds of different things and nothing worked and I would end up gaining more weight. She told me about how they sold weightloss pills in her office and I told her I tried them and they didn’t wok for me and told her I wanted weight loss surgery. She told me that she would put in for it and pushed the weight pills on me basically. I waited a long time and never heard back about the weight loss surgery and left a message on their referral line and finally a couple days later someone in the office called me and gave me a number and I was like cool.
Well, I got to just up to 4 days before the surgery, had been on a liquid diet for 2 weeks by the surgen (you have nothing but liquids for 2 weeks to shrink your liver) and I get a call from my surgeon saying that things weren’t looking good for my surgery because my doctor won’t clear me to have it… mind you, I was just in the week before and little Miss Erin gave me an EKG for my surgeon and told me if I need a clearance from my doctor just let her know and she will clear me if need be that her office clears before surgery all the time.
It turns out that she must of got in trouble by Dr. Newman because she basically lied to me to my face when I went to talk to her about it today. She told me how Dr. Newman is against weightloss surgery and won’t clear me to get it and they they didn’t refer me because there was no paper work for it in her computer. But it was her office that called me and gave me the number to my surgeon!
Before this all came about Erin did blood work on me that said my hormones were normal and they put me on medformin saying that I had polysystic ovary syndrome and scared me. I went and saw my O.B. and she said they can’t determine that unless you get an ultrasound of your ovaries. So I got an ultrasound and didn’t have it. Not to mention the Medformin they put me on was a low dose and to help the condition they thought I had, I would of needed ex’s the dose they put me on! When I saw Erin and told her I didn ymca have it she was like oh really?
I wouldn’t recommend them. Dr. Newman smokes and comes in smelling like cigarettes (I think Erin does also) funny he won’t clear me for surgery but he smokes and gives everyone Seconed hand smoke!)
I think he and Erin are a little Odd, and I am
sure they Know what they totally know what they are doing or what they are talking about!
The one star is for the guys in the back that do blood work and check your weight and stuff. They are real nice!

I recently switched PCPs as I didn’t like the community clinic environment. I found the Cardinal Medical Center myself and researched the doctor and his practice. I scheduled an annual physical, got an appointment for three days later. The staff was pleasant and seemed to know their business. I was questioned by the nurse soon after ad saw Dr, Newman maybe 15 minutes later. He is personable, humorous and had answers for my questions. He rescheduled my regular meds through his office, as I changed doctor IPAs. I had a physical exam with Dr. Newman and I checked out OK. He the had his assistant draw blood work, painlessly. The physical did not include an EKG as annual physicals in the past had, but I apparently didnt draw suspicion that I would have any heart issues. I think if I had mentioned it, he might have considered the additional test. I was happy with the experience and I will keep them as my PCP for now. So far, so good…

Great service with same day appointments. And friendly staff.
A great old school Dr. Office

This office is horrific! It’s like Dr Newman was unable to voice his opinion without his wife in the front yelling!

I absolutely love this office, staff is professional and courteous read the negative reviews and laughed drove from yucaipa to San Diego and it was well worth the drive. Maybe patients shouldn’t use a doctors office as a punching bag for their lack of knowledge in the EDD system. Patients are to bring any forms needed at time of doctors initial visit and are subject to a copay. Funny how you need a doctors backing for money you wouldn’t get without his signature. People are funny, doctors put a lot in the line and sometimes things come up during a visit and more time is needed for proper evaluation. DON’T SLANDER A DOCTOR OR STAFF FOR YOUR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE.

Is it possible to rate less than one star? This doctor is a joke and his office staff is worse. I’ll give two instances in which they were awful:
1. My husband and I had been trying to have children. My husband went in to the office to get checked. The office knew exactly why he was there and, instead of Dr. Newman, in came a PA and an intern that he didn’t know. So now my husband is explaining these very personal issues with two random people. How uncomfortable do you think it would be to have two random people touch your junk? And then after they complete their «exam», they let you know the doctor will be in. Who the hell are you then? And then Dr. Newman never came in. Hello? Is anyone working here?
2. After Dr. Newman put my husband on disability, we went home and filled out the paperwork. We faxed the information to Dr. Newman’s office and told them that they still needed to fill out the Physician’s Certificate. The «office manager» told us that Dr. Newman did not fill the form out online.
Okay, no biggie, when can I pick up the hard copy or when can you mail the hard copy out?
Oh, well, we don’t have any and I ordered some online over three months ago and they haven’t come in. But you can drive to the local EDD office and drop it off to us.
Are you freaking kidding me?!? Why do I need to do your job for you? So my husband (who’s disabled) drives to the EDD office and dropped off the forms plus an extra SIX copies so that maybe their other patients don’t have to go through this. So Dr. Newman signs the form and charges us $ 25…ummm, can I charge you for the damn gas and time it took to get the forms that YOUR office manager should have done? Also, thankfully I read the form before it went out because they didn’t fill all the required information in. You know, like his name, SSN, and the diagnosis code!
By the way, I ordered some of the EDD forms online and received them within six days. Get a new office manager and maybe some new staff members… better yet… go somewhere else.
