Industry leader in RO expertise and membrane applications since 1983, Applied Membranes manufactures Membrane Systems, AMI® brand and private-​label Membranes, and Membrane Chemicals. From residential to 1 MGD size and in standard to custom engineered designs, AMI RO, NF, UF, MF and EDI Systems are used in many different applications from Water Reuse, Brackish and Sea Water to Ultrapure Water with thousands of installations world-​wide. AMI also designs, sells and leases Pilot Plants for many applications. AMI Membranes have a reputation for quality and are offered in Thin Film RO, CTA/​CAB, Ultra-​Filtration, Nanofiltration, Microfiltration and Special Application materials. Also a major stocking distributor of FILMTEC® and other membranes as well as components for membrane systems. The founder, Dr. Gil Dhawan, has been in the Membrane Industry since 1973 and is active in all areas of the company. Applied Membranes is an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Company.

History

Established in 1983.

Applied Membranes, Inc. was established in 1983 by Dr. Gil Dhawan. Dr. Dhawan has over 40 years of experience in the water treatment industry. He is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and holds a Doctorate degree in Chemical Engineering.

Dr. Dhawan has worked in the membrane technology field since 1972, when he started commercializing and manufacturing membranes and membrane systems. He worked closely with Dr. Sourirajan, the inventor of the first commercial reverse osmosis membranes.

Dr. Dhawan set up a membrane division in Ontario, Canada and headed this division of the company until 1980. From 1980 to 1983, Dr. Dhawan headed the Sales and Marketing of Fluid Systems, with worldwide marketing and market development responsibility.
