We went Home Depot to buy a Christmas tree, they are supposed to be open until 22:00. We got there around 21:25 they were closed. Boo! I hate it when a place closes before they are supposed to.

Customer service was very good for my last visit. My only gripe is the self check out. I went in after work and in my mind I’m «off» so having a clerk check me out to me is part of a retail experience. On-line shopping is self check out, not taking the time to go into the store to purchase something. The young ladies did help me after I asked that she check me out. Really don’t like the«self check outs, anywhere.

We went in looking for a rug for our playroom. It’s been hard to find a shaggy light grey rug and they have one here that’s available through special order. The woman that was in the back helping with special orders was awesome. I don’t remember her name specifically but she’s been there a long time and her experience, enthusiasm and abilities definitely showed why she’s still here! I’d gladly go back for any of my needs while in visalia. Why four stars? The rug is unavailable for order. As we’re all the colors of that style. Also we were looking for a router or saw blades and the gentleman in that area really had no clue about powertools. Meh.

I have taken my Standard Poodle into Home Depots, Lowes and other stores across the country. She is always well behaved and other customers love to pet her. Imagine my shock to see a sign on the door at Home Depot Visalia stating the Service Dogs only were allowed. I will never spend another dime at this store or any other store that doesn’t allow my dog. OMG they sell nails and lumber, not food. They love my dog at Lowes.

I had to return an item I’d bought at Daly City. 4 people at the Customer Service Dept. I had to wait a few minutes before one of them finally looked up and offered to process the return(I thought they were in some training mode because they were huddled over one cash register). I have a feeling that going a few extra miles to Home Depot or Lowes at Tulare will give you better customer service. The vibe in Visalia was much less enthusiastic. But convenient, free drop-off for compact fluorescent bulbs!.

Having only self check lanes open is ridiculous at a place where the majority of the stuff they sell is oversized and/or purchased in bulk.

Well I’ve been here a few times in the past couple of weeks and had vastly different experiences. The bad: avoid the paint department. I went around 9 on a weekday morning and waited for 10 – 15 min and half a dozen employees walked right by, some even making eye contact(none visibly helping customers), but scurried away before I could get my mouth open to ask for help. Eventually I did get my paint, from a surly young man who obviously wanted to be doing anything besides mixing paint. So then I swore I’d drive the distance to Lowes and never come here again, until… I needed a brand of garage door accessory that Lowes doesn’t carry. The good: this was a weekday afternoon and there was a gentleman greeter who cheerfully pointed me along my way and then jogged half the store to apologize and point me in the real right direction. How nice! I also had a key made and that gentleman was very nice and nice to my kids as well. I’m sure I’ll continue to shop here when I don’t have the time to get over to lowes, but I will avoid the paint dept!

We came in to look at wheelbarrows. Went to the area and they had it roped off. We asked how long the man looked at us and said well, it can be 1 or 15 minutes and walked off… and so did we, over to Lowe’s and bought our wheelbarrow. FYI: They were not helping a customer they were just stocking at 1PM.

You’ll get different experiences based on which dept. you’re in. Most of the staff in the plumbing, flooring, and electrical dept are knowledgeable and helpful. Checkout staff is also very friendly and helpful. The paint dept can be painfully slow. My experiences with management here are great. I see other Unilocalers are irritated with the lack of loading help, and I don’t doubt them. I just don’t buy anything I need help loading.

This Home Depot is one of the worst places to have to go to. I have spent hundreds of dollars on lumber in multiple trips and each time no one helps. I can almost see the tumble weeds rolling by as i am having to load up ¾ plywood sheets. Or the last time when two employees were having a conversation while i was trying to load lumber… I guess the fact I had a lumber cart and a push cart with my toddler wasnt enough to inspire them to do their job. Also dont expect help out after you spend hundreds of dollars… you will be waiting quite a while. I am taking my business to high sierra lumber in Tulare.

I have the hardest time getting anyone to help me at this location. The last time I went there, I was looking for an inset toilet paper holder. Simple right? I had already picked out the one I wanted on the website, I just didn’t know where to find it in the store. On the way in, 3 different employees saw me but I couldn’t get their attention before they dashed away. Never did find the holder. Got it off eBay instead.
