Really disappointed on how we were treated last night. It wasn’t even close to closing time and they put the closed sign on the door. And after that they let in a few girls the bouncer was friends with!!! I was so angry. When I asked him what that was about he said he was just«doing his job». It was so rude. I will not be bringing my friends back here on the weekends that’s for sure.

The crowd is different from what I’m use to. Not from this town, but was a fun night. It’s roomie to dance, bar is small, there’s places to sit, and it’s a cute club. Cover charge is pretty pricy for an average club, music isn’t all that great, DJ went from hip hop straight into trance, then slow slow R&B song… Ummm… Very hard to keep up with the DJ.

Great live music venue and bar for the Visalia downtown crowd. Despite the limited seating, this place has some fantastic artists grace their stage along with offering an extensive selection of beer, wine and liquor. For a city the size of Visalia, The Cellar Door is always a go-to for those seeking a wide variety of musical acts and quality drinks. For bigger shows, come prepared for a ‘standing room only’ kind of evening.

I never agree with a place charging a cover charge unless there is a band there. I paid a $ 10 cover charge to listen to an awful band. Hope you like to dance or move around because there were not a lot of seats. This place just needs to b bigger around the stage. I did like the stage being in the middle of the room. Bartenders were ok and alcoholic beverages were watered down. Once you get settled in, it is a cool place to kick back!

Gd music, too crowded, not enough seats and the staff is rude. The cover charge is too much for the type of club. I rather travel to fresno.

Sadly this the only place that offers salsa. I say that because the dj really sucks. I wish a place with such a large Latino community would have a better dj. if you are here in beautiful Visalia and you want to dance just stay in bed and wait till you are in a establishment that hires a real dj or band for salsa.

Granted, I’ve only been here once and it was for a Tuesday salsa lesson. It’s a five dollar cover but that give you two half hour lessons a beginner and intermediate. The instructors were great and the class was fun! It really makes me want to learn hard core so I can get my dirty dancing on. After the class it stays as a salsa night with salsa music and cumbias. Once you get your hand stamped they allow in and outs, which is a plus in my book. Beers were $ 5 with specials of some on taps for $ 2.00. If you are looking for a fun experience and mingling with people take the class and stay to put your new learned moves to work.

Horrible! I absolutely hate this place! I had been here a few times and last summer some of the security got physical with a friend of mine when he wasn’t even being combative. The owner Denise then tried to bribe my friend with $ 20 when the police showed up. Another time I went with my friend and her husband and as soon as we walked through the door they told him not to start any trouble(profiling much?) and the last time I went a few days ago because my friend wanted to dance after a break up so I gave it another shot, the guy at the door charged me then the bar closed 10 min. Later. I asked him why he would charge me knowing it was closing, he laughed at me and asked if I wanted my money back and when I said yes he laughed and didn’t refund my $. This place is CLASSLESS! Save your self the trouble and go elsewhere.

Went for St Patty’s Day and they had a great Irish band playing, well worth the $ 7 cover charge. Room was spacious and comfy at the same time. Waitress was very personable and remembered what everyone was drinking. Huge beer selection has some good craft beer, domestic and import. At $ 4-$ 5 a beer, it is a little higher than my favorite spots but not too bad. Only poor marks are for the restrooms which REALLY need a remodel.

This place is pretty pretentious. The selection of drinkage is what it is– they don’t have a full bar, but they do have a decent array of beers, ciders, wines, etc. They often get pretty good bands, but the sound in the place(and the people running the sound) seriously needs help, it is ALWAYS way too loud. This place is okay, but it could be so much better.

Never have I been an obvious victim of discrimination until last night at this place. The bouncer(exuding the appearance of some ex-convict), tells my friends and I that we can’t come in unless we remove our hats. I looked around, and there were at least 10+ other people who were already inside, wearing ball caps. I pointed this out to the bouncer, and he has the nerves to tell us that my friends and I are different since we’re younger, and we look like OT’s(some local asian gang). I found his comment outrageous due to the fact that we were wearing golf brand hats, non-baggy pants, blazers, etc… while others inside wore such things like fitted caps, baggy pants, typical ghetto attire. I told him what he was doing was pure discrimination, and we weren’t going to put up with it. In the end, we won and went inside wearing what we showed up with. Talk about uneducated people serving the people of Visalia, CA.

Incredibly disappointed! Drove from Fresno to Visalia for an event at the Cellar Door, arrived late, but arrived none-the-less at 11:45/11:50PM, and they gladly took my money/cover charge at the door. Spent $ 5 at the bar and left a tip upon entering. Around 12:00/12:10 they gave the«last call», and by 12:25:12:30 the lights were up and the Cellar Door management ended the event, leaving the event promoter embarrassed and apologizing to the people who had came out. There were plenty of people there having a good time, buying drinks, etc, but apparently not enough to keep the venue management interested in staying open for those of us who had paid a cover and were spending money on drinks. Upon leaving I asked the guy who took my money at the door why they were ending it so soon, told him how far I had just driven, and told him it would have been nice if I would have known upon entering and PAYING A COVER that they would be ending so soon, and all this guy did was give me a «tough luck» attitude and could care less that I had just paid the cover and that they were cutting the night short. I was not offered an apology nor was I offered a refund or even a partial refund. Rude. Unprofessional. Visalia deserves better!

Great live music venue! Saw Del the Funky Homosapien here on Friday night and it was a good time. Very busy but the bartenders did a pretty good job of keeping the beer flowing. They have a great selection and even had one of my favorite beers, Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout! The only bad thing is the men’s room, there was always a huge line for it. Kinda weird too cuz the ladies room had no line… bit of a role reversal. Only one urinal and a toilet in the mens room. While taking a piss some dude was so desperate he came in, said fuck it and pissed in the sink. Didnt wash my hands that time.

This place is the only reason I’d ever go back to Visalia again. I was here with my friend only to see one of my favorite bands, We Are Scientists, and I think I was just as puzzled as they were about why they’d be performing at a small wine bar like this in the middle of nowhere in California. I was expecting a dumpy old bar but when I walked inside, it was a bigger place than I thought it’d be, with a small, raised stage in the middle. Lots of comfy couches were around the stage and it was nice to just sit there and have drinks before the show started. Because it’s a wine and beer bar, I was really happy they had my favorite beer on tap and I loved that I spent only a little bit over $ 20 on four drinks total. If this is the cool place for you residents of Visalia to hang out, good for you!

I’d give this place 5 stars for the sole reason that they were able to land Vampire Weekend last October. But there are other redeeming events that has made this one of my go-to bars when I go back home(yes, double L is still somehow in the rotation) Several times I was a part of a big group that came in at once, and everytime they’ll open up the side room and let us hang out in there in private. At the time, I was impressed with their presumed hospitality. I look back now and I’m even more impressed because it was sheer foresight — identifying alchies and separating them from the general public. Either way, works for me. 5 stars!

Place sure gets a lot of hype. Was not impressed with this place, nor was the caravan I went with. Took a while to get drinks to us, and when we wanted to head out to the VP for drinks, seemed the bill took even longer to procure. The art on the walls is not for me, made me feel like drinking a bottle of Absinthe and cutting off my left ear. Kinda freaked me out. Wasnt cool getting a buzz and staring at freakish paintings. Place does have great location though in the heart of downtown Visalia, so jumping ship and heading somewhere else doesnt have to include losing your parking spot. Did have a good wine list and good selection of imported beers. Spot has a niche with certain crowd, sadly I found out Im not part of. Will be getting my wine and cocktails just a bit further down the street, at the VP. Steve Out

Great place for wine. Bountiful variety of tasty wines to try, with friendly wine servers, and good glasses! With nice opaque glass refrigerator doors to chill and display the wine. Great place for music. A nice stage area, so that nobody in the place has a bad seat. There was also a awesome band playing that had a Bob Dylan, Meg White feel to it,(just so HAPPENS to be my sister playing that night! :) Great place to see people. Coming from Visalia, it’s always nice to see cousins and friends from high school. My hubby also liked the art… nice boobies and butt painting!
