We pretty much go to MC for the pies(food has always been kinda mediocre), one of my favorite pies during the holidays is the French Apple, we have purchased in the past and they never disappointed, on Thanksgiving my mom was in the hospital 4 hours away so we wanted to wait on celebrating until she came back home, we just had it tonight and my sister purchased a French Apple pie and it was just not good, it was runny the topping rolled over to the side of the box, hardly any apples and it tasted like it was full of applesauce, all n all we were not impressed at all.

I am visiting family from out of town and we decided Marie Callendar’s for dinner. We walked in, was NOT greeted until after ten minutes of sitting there we went up to the host to give the number of people to sit and eat in our party, he was on the phone for awhile and kept putting his finger up at my family member. we waited for him to get off the phone and walked back up to speak to him and he said«we’re wiping down a table it’ll be a couple minutes.» we were more than happy waiting. It took more than a couple minutes. couple meaning two minutes. He walked us back to seat us at a booth. didn’t ask our seating preference first off. Keeping in mind we are not skinny Minnie’s. we’re an average sized person. We decline this booth because it was too small leaving no elbow room. He then gave off an irritated vibe and said well this table seat more than six and we can wipe it down for you. it would only take a few more minutes. so we agreed but as we were walking to sit in the waiting room, another group asked what happened to our seats because they saw us waiting for awhile. we answered saying the booth was too small and were waiting for another spot. The host then chimed in saying«Well technically it’s seats six.» in a very patronizing tone. We found this to be extremely rude and not a good display of customer service. It definitely didn’t feel like a family environment. I will never go back and neither will my family.

This was my first time going in and sitting down, usually we just order their pies. I thought the atmosphere was nice, it was a little chilly but not too bad. I noticed this was a place for a lot of older people as well seeing how my boyfriend and me were the only ones under 30 there. Which I’m not complaining, no screaming kids haha. All the staff seemed very friendly, from the host to our waitress, even another waiter stopped by our table when he saw I was done using a plate and removed it from our table, I thought that was nice seeing how he wasn’t our waiter. I thought their prices were a tad bit on the pricey side. I ordered the bacon quiche which came with a side of fruit and my boyfriend ordered the French dip sandwich. My quiche was delicious and I ordered the salad bar, it was fully stocked and had a lot more items then most places to add to your salad and had fruit and pasta salad and a soup bar. Our waitress accidentally charged us for someone else’s order which was a little higher but she got it fixed right away so no big deal. The food was good, I would come back to try the pot pie but other than that I wouldn’t pay their high prices on anything else.

I have always called to order a pie to make sure it would be there when I come in the morning. Was told sorry since they’re on sale we won’t hold them for you because we are selling then fast enough. Bad customer service

Mmm… just had the traditional Frisco Burger and it was absolutely delicious! The sourdough bread was grilled and had a rich buttery taste. The Angus burger was very juicy. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a burger with an old fashioned taste like that. My hubby had«The Works» Frisco Burger with Applewood smoked bacon and an onion ring, he also raved about it. Both had a thousand island dressing, lettuce, pickle and tomato. We had ours with fries. We’re definitely coming back for that. Our server was fast and friendly. I’m glad we rediscovered Marie Callender’s.

The server needed help. My sandwich made at least 2 laps around the restaurant and had fries when I ordered cottage cheese. Took forever to get anything including our bill. Would not return

Won’t be back to this one. Wanted to ask a question about what pies were available. Was told to I had to wait in line to ask a question. Well it could have taken 30 seconds at most to answer. Worst Marie Callender I have ever been to.

Maybe, they had better things to do: Marie Callender’s was one of my «to do» list items for some time. However, after this«first impression» visit, I would’ve been better off nuking any of her delicious frozen entrees which I’ve enjoyed over the years. This location is pretty on the outside, pretty on the inside too, but the service was lousy. «It’s all about your attitude» is what we hear for many situations. One important situation to me, as a customer, is the way I’m greeted at the door. Here at the Visalia location, I went inside, undecided if I was going to eat in or get something to go. The person at the counter was busy so I looked around a bit then decided I would get something to go. Went back to the counter, no one there. A concerned waiter asked if I’ve been helped after noticing me in the same position, the second time. I answered no and he did make an effort to find the person who was supposed to attend the counter.(Note: I would never stay this long for a non-to do list activity). The person did show up as the waiter went back to his duties visibly showing, through body language, his disappointment at his team member’s performance. And the service I got after this? Well let’s put it this way. Ever walk into a place where the workers are engaged in a great conversation? But the mood changes when they finish to help you? It was obvious I interrupted her from more important matters. Maybe she was doing her homework from the college across the street, texting, sexting, or «Oh, what everrrr!!» Not to worry though, I’ll never interrupt her again. And who needs them when I can still indulge my addiction to Marie’s frozen entrees.

Ok, first things first. I ordered a strawberry lemonade and what was brought out to me looked just like a water with lemon. There was small amount of purée sprinkled on the bottom of the glass that even when stirred didn’t change the taste or color. The salad I order unfortunately was average at best and something I ordered because of the comparison of a featured item at a competitors. I will have to say the best part of the lunch was the service. Though the restaurant is beginning to show its age with the torn seats and faded table tops. The quality service does try to make up for the lack of quality food.

I gave it 4 stars because of my server, Mona. She is the best! Very friendly, very attentive, never let’s your drink run out. Potato cheese soup was perfect, even if it is 100 degrees outside. Good selection on the salad bar. Greens, fresh fruit, pasta salads and lots of trimmings. Try the roasted tomato dressing, WOW!!! Complimentary cornbread is sweet and moist.(And huge) I’ll be back!

Love this place! Grew up eating here so feels like home whenever i stop in. The quality of the cornbread and soups has never declined. The pies are just as delicious as i remember. The menu has changed over the years, but the old standbys are there and as comforting as ever

Thursday for dinner; three adults and two children. Seated promptly and the server was pleasant and attentive. Everyone’s food was OK, nothing to rave about except the salmon dinner was better than expected. The server was generous with the corn bread [two times], and with refilling the water glasses. On balance, it is OK, nothing extra good with the food, nothing extra bad, and the server was better than most in the chain restaurants.

I have been to many Marie Callender’s. I was not impressed with this one. We went to a Sunday brunch and had the all you can eat buffet. The food was full of pre-processed food and the taste was boring. I paid a lot and got below average food. I also felt the décor was quite dated.

How to explain our meal… An emotional rollercoaster! Guy that seated us was dressed great and very nice! Then we waited 10 min before asking the nice busser for some water. Finally our server came and went with our drink order and we thought he’d never come back! We received our food and had mixed reviews. BBQ food was great. Everything else was cold. I’m a server so I knew to tell him to send everything out as it came so nothing would be waiting but that obviously didn’t work! The place got a little busy and even though we saw 6 people in the restaurant that worked there NOBODY except the busser(a very sweet Mexican woman!) stepped in to help him. Even the server coming on to start his shift(a spikey haired shirt guy) stood and watched poor Aaron struggle while taking to the apparent«manager»! It was sickening! Goes to show even a good server can be brought down by crappy backup. That’s what the rest of the staff was. Keep in mind the manager was there taking to different employees the ENTIRE time! I would have quit this place a long time ago! Good food… Decent server… All brought down by horrible management!!!

Good food, ok prices. Usually poor to fair service. My favorite is definitely the pancakes/waffles because the batter is different from what you would get anywhere else. I also like the Sunday brunches with champagne.

I added a star for the hostesses that greeted us… actually for the conversation we had after the meal… they were so bubbly and funny and helpful about what to do while we were in town for a visit. I hear Marie Calendars are restructuring their corporation and so I fear that we will only be able to find them in the freezer section of our grocery stores soon so whenever I see one, I try to talk in whoever I am with to go. I love the salad bar and potato cheese soup! Diet or not!!! This one did not disappoint me. Funny as I have lost weight, I can’t eat as much but I did my best! I have to really comment… HOW could these great restaurants possibly be a dying breed? Why is it that all the great places seem to bite the dust? I mean first Mother’s Cookies and now Marie Calendars?! Well, they brought Mother’s Cookies back! Lets bring back Marie Calendars! Whenver you have the chance please go and support them so we don’t lose this great place for comfort food!

This place was so warm when we entered, which was nice because it was freezing outside before we entered. Coffee was good, Breakfast: 2 eggs, 2 pancakes with syrup & side of ham were delics.

Went in for breakfast after meeting in Central Visalia. Experience was OK. Our server was polite, the food was good, but it just seems like the quality of ingredients had deteriorated for MC over the years. We were offered a free apple pie if we completed a survey, which we have yet to do. A good place for a generic breakfast or lunch if there are not other options. Their pies are still great though!

A nice, large, Marie Callenders that is easy to get in and out of when you are in Visalia and heading back towards Hwy 99. The service is good, the food a bit better than some Marie Callenders that I have visited.
