Excellent company, lives up to its fantastic reputation! First time buying an in-​ground pool of any type, and Ric and the staff at The Pool Guyz could not have made it any easier. From initial sales call and follow-​up, through selection of the pool model, scheduling of install, the (marvelously) efficient install process, and superb follow-​up, pool training and support, these guys were simply fantastic. Fiberglass is definitely the way to go if you want to make the process smooth, easy, and quick, and The Pool Guyz are the ones you want for a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Ric Reineke and The Pool Guyz, are exemplary! Simply phenomenal service! Their workmanship and customer service speak for themselves and are completely based on the needs of their customers!
Being this was the first time we ever built a pool (we’ve always had homes that already had pools), you can imagine how nerve racking it can be. The thought of ripping your front and backs yard apart, ending up with a gaping hole that creates major issues all while throwing away considerable sums of money — that nightmare can keep you awake at night! I’m happy to report however that Ric and his Pool Guyz team made the process incredibly easy.
I did my research thoroughly. I obtained quotes from 6 different companies. Ric was not the cheapest, but he impressed me with his easy going nature and how quickly he responded to questions throughout the process. He also took the time to explain each and every option/​feature and worked hard to work within our budget.
IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR RELIABLE, EXPERIENCED CRAFTSMEN WHO PAY ATTENTION TO THE LITTLE DETAILS, AND UNDERSTAND THAT THEIR WORK IS THEIR SIGNATURE ~ THEN THESE ARE YOUR POOL GUYZ! They listened carefully to our design requirements, gave us great suggestions to incorporate into our plans, and executed the construction perfectly using only the highest quality materials & equipment. And best of all, they completed the job on a tight schedule.
The Pool Guyz are a different breed of contractor. I watched them closely every day while they worked and found they don’t take short cuts and they don’t cut corners to save time. They’re old-​school and ALL ABOUT QUALITY. They show up on time every day, work long hard hours, and actually do what they say they’re going to do with smiles on their faces. IT’S QUITE APPARENT THEY SINCERELY CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS AND THEY DEFINITELY STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK. They repeatedly followed up with us after completion and stopped by our home several times afterwards to ensure we were completely happy with their work. If you choose to hire them ~ you’re making the right decision.
Everything I could ask for in any contractor (let alone a pool contractor) was in abundance with The Pool Guyz:
ü quoted a fair price and stuck to it
ü delivered everything they said they would
ü always open to changes/​adjustments, etc.
ü on time and delivered on their promises
ü talked us out of spending money on features that would add nothing to overall enjoyment or longevity of the pool

We had our pool installed 3 years ago. The first winter the concrete crumbled in to the pool on the edges. The Pool Guyz told us they would take care of this problem. They send a company over that would put a coating over the crack and broken concrete. The company would not guarantee the the coating would last very long. When we questioned another concrete company they told us it would be a bigger problem to remove the coating and that it was only a temporary solution.
We called another pool company that has been in business for over 20 years and they explained the installer of th pool should have told us the water spiders on our pool needed to be winterized. They are the main cause for the concrete problems we are expierencing.
We ask the Pool Guyz to help us with the cost of a total replacment and they refused. Our $ 50,000 pool area looks horrible and is dangerous to walk on.
I am so disapointed and would not recommend using this company.
We will have to spend $ 12 000 to fix this mess!

After buying our house last year, we decided that we wanted to explore having a pool installed. We hadn’t made up our minds regarding the type (vinyl liner, concrete, fiberglass, etc), so we met with several builders to discuss the pros and cons of each and eventually decided on The Pool Guyz and a fiberglass pool by Viking.
From the beginning, we were made aware of the best and worst case scenarios. You never know what you’re going to find when the digging starts and our house is 114 years old, so that’s a lot of time for things to end up buried in the yard. We also knew that being only a couple of blocks off the Elizabeth River, ground water could be an issue, but we were confident that Pool Guyz could handle whatever situation arose. Sure enough, after only a few feet into the excavation, ground water literally began pouring from the walls of the hole. They reacted quickly and began dealing with the issue and had it under control quickly.
Within a few weeks, our pool was in the ground, electrical done, concrete poured and our pool sparkling clean. They made sure the site was cleaned up after the construction process was done and performed a very good grade on the portions of the yard that were impacted by the work so that we could start getting the grass to grow back. We couldn’t be happier with the end result and are still adjusting to the fact that a mini vacation is just outside our back door to enjoy any time we want. I would absolutely recommend The Pool Guyz. They have an A+ rating with the BBB and were excellent partners throughout the process.
