The Oceanfront Inn

We stayed for 3 nights over Christmas, Giving a four star review… Being a older hotel you really can’t complain when your Oceanfront !! 75 – 80 degree weather with the Balcony doors wide open all weekend, listening to the beautiful sounds of Ocean waves crashing on the beach. It’s hard to complain about the little issues… The room didn’t smell fresh and clean being a smoke free room but it surly didn’t smell like «old man butt» like our last hotel stay down in the OBX. Beds were quite comfortable, not too hard and not too soft. The bathroom needed some extra help when it came to the funk it the corners and hair left from previous guests… Mold on the bottom of the shower curtain wasn’t cool at all… but we’ve learned to travel with bleach cleaner so I’ve learned not to bitch and complain (very often) especially being a holiday weekend. Front desk staff were friendly and promptly changed our room upon arrival when the firsts rooms bathroom floor was flooded. Other than that we had a awesome time and for the inexpensive cost of the stay booked through
we may just come back next year for Christmas… Oh… the only other complain or suggestion would be to put a microwave in the room. we had a frig, and coffee maker but no microwave… even a room safe but no Microwave to reheat late night leftovers… odd… But anyhow… Thanks for the Great stay. the beach view made up for the little issues that could easily be addressed with a better housekeeping staff. 4 stars for sure. I arrived earlier that expected and I was was able to get into my room. The room was larger than most hotel rooms I’ve been in and I paid less! I love the oceanfront view, the hotel staff were great and I was made to feel welcome! Also the rooms were very clean! I enjoyed my visit and would stay there again!

We were here for three nights in October we had three rooms. They get two stars just because the nice views and nice staff. The rooms were terrible. The beds were hard as a rock and very uncomfortable. All three bathrooms were deplorable. Rust, mildew etc. not to mention the water temperature fluctuated almost every time someone anywhere in the hotel turned on water. The restaurant food was very low grade and extremely over priced. The pool was dirty and had no hot tub. For 120 a night we expected much more. For what we got it should be priced around 49 a night. I found out on the last night the Hilton beachfront was ten times the hotel for fifteen more a night. Next time stay there.

I found myself needing a place to stay in VA Beach for the Rock N Roll Marathon this year. A lot of the hotels had a two night minimum, this place did not — score. My first impression when I pulled into the parking lot/​front entrance wasn’t a great one, there was a security guard telling me the lot was full (meh– Labor Day weekend) and I can only park in front of the hotel to check in.
The front desk was super busy, I think people didn’t have plans so there were a lot of people in line wanting rooms. After waiting in the line, I came out to get my stuff and the security guard told me to «hurry up.» Now, since I was traveling by myself — I had no issue and unloaded my one running bag-​got to my room and came back to move my car — If you had a whole family with you (small children, etc… this probably would have ticked me off).
Anyways, since the lot was full I was directed to a really dated parking garage across the street. Managed to get one of the last spots in there (without dying) and I told myself I wasn’t going to move my car unless I really had to.
My oceanfront room was on the 2^nd floor and located above the restaurant that was in the building. No worries… It was super quiet below… you could actually hear more people on the boardwalk than in the restaurant. The room was clean and had the usual amenities. Fridge, ironing board, iron, etc. It was a double room with two beds and there was even room enough for a small table with two chairs. A/​C was a wall unit and worked quite well — since I mistakenly left it on too low and woke up shivering a couple times.
Overall my stay was not bad considering the Labor Day weekend. Hotel staff was friendly and even gave me a «late» checkout (noon instead of 11) which helped me finish my race and then take my time to walk back to the hotel to get cleaned up.

Full service restaurant that offers a $ 6 breakfast for guests. It’s a classic diner-​style breakfast.
There’s a fancy cocktail lounge a block up in the Hilton, if you’re looking for a fancy fix.
No complaints. It’s not the Hilton, but you’re paying half, so, save the money to eat at Tautog’s!!!

We stayed one night here while visiting Va Beach for s concert. I chose this place based off of price, Unilocal reviews and the fact that every room has a view of the ocean. It did not disappoint. We were able to check around noon (check in was actually at 4pm). The hotel is a little out dated and they need upgrades but all in all I was very satisfied.

I went back and forth between 4 and 5 stars. All rooms face the ocean. I absolutely loved sleeping with balcony door open and falling asleep and waking up to the sounds of the ocean. The location was PERFECT!!! We walked everywhere except the aquarium which was a quick drive. Indoor pool was available. The room was quite comfortable with a table and chairs to eat at if you brought food to your room. It was very clean and really affordable. It is older but for me, I dont really care. The 4 stars because some people do care about that but at the beach, it’s not important. YOU’RE AT THE BEACH!!!

Such a great find! It’s an older hotel but my room was clean and well maintained. A great deal for the rate and ocean view. Literally walk out the back door to the beach. Everyone at the front desk was nice and helpful. Parking fills up but they have a garage across the street you can use too. They have a refrigerator in the room which is a must for me so that was another plus! I would recommend this hotel.

Just spent 5 nights (end of May) — quiet hotel, clean and comfortable. Free extra parking across the street in the well lighted garage. Maid was very friendly and nice. Good location on north end of oceanfront. I heard good reviews for Neptune Restaurant in the lobby, but did not eat there. Large indoor pool looked nice. Yes, I recommend this place.

My family and i have been staying here once or twice every year for a about 5 or 6 years now. It is close to many attractions we like to go to. Almost every time we bring a microwave with us bc they don’t have one in room. The people at the front desk are always pleasant and answer any questions. I’ve never been to the pool but it looks decent enough.

Came here 2 years in a row and LOVE it! We normally stay 2 to 3 nights here, and pay under $ 200 a night for June or July weekends. All the rooms are ocean-​front with a balcony and great views. Rooms are clean and spacious. The price is very reasonable compared to the competing hotels next door to them. Location is great! Near the nicer and upscale shops in VA beach. Near the Hilton and the park area for the kids to run around in.
The staff is friendly and the parking is free. They have a large garage across the street if the front parking area is too crowded. The boardwalk is directly in front of your room. They have an indoor, heated pool that closes at 10 pm. I didn’t use it, but it looked like a reasonable size.
This is my 2^nd year back at this hotel and I plan to return for all future family vacations. The only small complaint I have about the rooms is I wish they had a microwave in there. It would make it more family-​friendly to include that. However, they do have a mini-​fridge. I will return regardless.

We stayed at the Oceanfront Inn last month for our anniversary and got a cut-​rate deal on a room; I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. I don’t think I’ll be doing that again.
We arrived around 9 for a check in after dinner. There was no parking directly outside the hotel, but I was told at reception that we could park across the street. Plenty of parking there and we weren’t charged extra for it, so that’s a plus.
The outside of the hotel is attractive in a plain sort of way. The lobby is welcoming and clean. The staff was quite friendly. We had a second floor room; as with every room, it faces the ocean. The room and the bathroom were clean, but the furniture was cheaply made and not in very good condition – it was made of fake pressed wood and there were a lot of splintered areas, plus the edges appeared worn. This made me feel a little skeptical of the hotel itself, but I know they can’t constantly replace furniture.
The beds were okay but they were kind of short – my husband’s feet dangled over the edge. He’s six feet tall. If you’re over 5’9″, you may want to try to get a room with a king sized bed. Heater and AC both worked well and blocked out the noises in the hallway and next door.
I would not recommend this hotel for a romantic evening. It would probably be okay if you were looking for a budget place to take the family for a beach vacation, even though I can’t imagine paying full price for it in the summer time.

Stayed here in July of 2011. Very nice hotel right on the beach with your own private balcony overlooking the ocean. Our room was very clean and we had good maid service everyday. The restaurant Neptune’s on the property is very good for all 3 meals breakfast, lunch and dinner. Very near to the attractions Virginia Beach has to offer I will definitely stay here again in the future.

Great price in the off season! Really nice rooms for a midlevel hotel! The people at the front were a bit grouchy but other than that, no complaints!

We stayed here for $ 49/​night in late October. SUPER IMPRESSED! Why are they competing with the Hilton next door, who charge over $ 250/​night for off season?
Oceanfront’s rooms were very nice, clean, and have a huge balcony overlooking the boardwalk and ocean. Free wi-​fi and cable are included. Rooms have 2 double beds that are comfy, but not home. I don’t know many hotels that compare to home, though. Super friendly staff. Microwave, fridge, and coffee maker are standard per room.
Overall very impressed. Because of these super affordable rooms, we plan to visit VA Beach more often now.

I’m giving this place 4 stars because it was good for the price, considering it was right there on the waterfront. It’s not the Hilton. It’s not even a Holiday Inn Express. It’s basically a decent motel on the beach, so why should I say more? … OK, I will anyway. The desk staff was friendly and helpful in recommending restaurants. The pool was clean, heated just enough so it was comfortable – we stayed in April so some days were still too chilly to go into the ocean. They have an off-​duty sheriff’s deputy there for security and to protect the parking lot in the evening. Beds were sufficiently comfortable and the place was clean, and there’s a fridge in each room. [They fridge was off to save money when we got in, but turn it on using the knob inside.] Our shower was really comfortable with good pressure and plenty of hot water, and the towels were only slightly scratchy. All in all, for what I paid, I was pleased.

I stayed her last year around Novemberish when the weather was starting to get cold in the area, thus we got a good deal. I think the nightly rate was something like $ 60/​night (through
). The hotel, amenities, and service was pretty average.. The beds are decent. Nothing to write home about, but I didn’t wake up with an aching back. Like I said, at the time it was getting pretty cold, so the rooms were warm. However, once stepping into the hallway, it was pretty chilly. The good thing about this hotel is that every room has a view of the ocean. Thus walking outside to the balcony, you’ll have a really good view of the Atlantic ocean. They have free internet access so that is good too. If rating the hotel against other hotels I’ve stayed in, it would be about a 2.5 to 3 at best. Reason for recommending it is the price and the view. If given another good deal, I would stay here again.
