Don’t be turned away from the setting of this little Mom & Pop place, I would probably called this the Korean Take out with excellent soups and bulgogi. If you are looking from authentic quick Korean food, this is your place. Definitely a laid back environment, not your typical fancy Korean place

From all the reviews I had seen I expected a lot more this place was a let down. I ordered the bulgogi and it tasted like cheap meat with teriyaki sauce on it the only good thing about the place was the macaroni was good but definitely not worth what I spent.

First impression was that this is just a take out place but oh man, their food is on point!!! I mean it’s made by Koreans so it’s very enjoyable. They have some really traditional Korean dishes so don’t let the décor fool you! It is definitely worth trying. The food came out hot fresh and tasty!

I ordered the small Kalbi combo and kimbap. It took about 15 mins to wait on but was worth it for the price not to mention the food was great! This place is worth a try. Not really am ideal sit down restaurant but it is clean and the owners were very personable.

Had the BBQ Pork Belly plate and it was fantastic! Very authentic Korean food. My husband had the Bulgogi and he LOVED it.

First the ambiance is less than desirable. Placed order for 2 bulgogi combos and a kal-no plate. The food took 20 minutes to come out and that was after two separate to go orders came in after us. The food: Kimchi was salty and had an odd taste. Bulgogi was salty and lakes flavor. As well as the bean sprouts. The side of potatoes was very small– only 3 pieces But the potion size of the meat was good.

I don’t know why I forgot about this place because I used to come here all the time. It’s been Y-E-A-R-S so, coming here felt like the first time… Ok so it is a small store front spot. Nothing fancy inside, matter of fact, remodeling should been an agenda for them. Order the Kolbi fried rice and BBQ chicken, with Kimiche. You can see the owner cook the meal through the glass. Obviously the meats are marinated as he took out the meats from a container with seasoning thus the robust juicy flavor. The chicken was grilled on a stove top cast iron grill griddle. It made the chicken taste like he BBQ it right outside and even had some grill marks LOL! My fried rice was delicious, plenty of meat and rice was nicely season. For the price, I feel the portion can be more than what you get. Overall, a solid place for some Korean takeout.

Nothing special about the ambience. It’s flat walls and bare seating. I ordered and was sort of grunted at in understanding before a perfunctory total was given. The drinks were put out on the pass for me to go get myself with a «Your drink.» by way of explanation. You get one free refill only. The food was served on styrofoam with plastic utensils picnic-style. After I was done eating there was no immediate place to put my cups and trash. All in all:.

The food was average. I enjoyed the cucumber and cabbage kimchi, but I felt like the kalbi was lacking that extra«oomph.» Another downside is that they use paper plates and plastic utensils for dine-in. I wish they were a little more environmentally conscious.

I went into Tasty Korean with an open mind, tried several of the mini portions and the kimchi stew. I was quite surprised that all the sides are served cold. I enjoyed the taste of each of the warm items, but didn’t care for the cold sides.

Had to get my Korean fix tonight… This place isn’t too bad. Not too great either. We started off with the gimbap, the Korean version of sushi. It’s rolled just like sushi with some beef cooked in the middle. If I had this dish alone I would have ordered three and made this a four star review. The dishes were decent at best. My girlfriend ordered the #2 bulgogi and I had the #28 fried BBQ with vegetables. I liked her dish more than mine, especially since she was able to pick out kimchi and bean sprouts. If you order a soda for dine in you get one free refill so sip your cup dry before refilling. Decent spot but I’ll probably try another Korean joint before going back to this one.

First time I’ve been here and could not be more pleased with my experience. Menu included pictures and accurate descriptions of every dish. Good was brought out quickly by a very friendly staff member. They were just the right amount of busy and had take out orders going as well. First time here, but it certainly will not be the last!

This is my 3rd time visiting here. Everything I tried here were all too salty… and the prices are pretty high! I don’t think I would come back ever… sorry, I just have to be honest because I’m from Korea!!! I know what it taste like. Maybe some people will like to eat here whose not Korean. lol

This place has been around for quite a while now. However, I now just got around to trying it recently, and I do wish I tried it sooner! Staff is friendly, and it definitely can satisfy Korean BBQ cravings when you can’t make a trip to NOVA.

I ran in on a cold day to try some of their mandu soup. It was delicious!!! The place was empty and they didn’t give me any side dishes but I didn’t really mind. The broth was flavorful and the raw green onions on top gave it a nice crunch. I will definitely be back to try some of their bigger dishes.

The spicy seafood soup with a side of carefully prepped kimbap combined with a charming Korean staff and nonstop travel channel on the flat screen make for a delightful experience. Lost one star because there was a big box of cabbage uncomfortably close to the men’s restroom. Stank cabbage aside, I will def. return.

This was my first experience with Korean food and I was very happy with the food my first time and every time I’ve been back since then. This is just a small family owned Korean restaurant so don’t expect fancy dishes but the owners are always friendly and the food is always good and fresh. Also helps that it’s no more than 10 mins from my place. Oh and they make the most amazing macaroni salad! Such a weird thing to be good at a Korean place in my option lol

This place rocks. Although the number is growing, there just aren’t that many Korean restaurants in Hampton Roads. As a fan of Korean food, I’m very happy this place exists. Inside, this place is nothing special. Don’t expect any elaborate decorations here. While there are tables and chairs for eating in(even outdoor seating), this is primarily a take-out place IMO. As I stated earlier, Korean restaurants are not very common in the Hampton Roads area, and I think the average resident of the area probably doesn’t know all that much about Korean food in general. Tasty acknowledges this, and they have an entire wall that is reserved for large display of their entire menu, complete with pictures of each item. I was introduced to Korean food by a friend a long time ago, but I’m still by no means an expert. So I really appreciate that they took time to do this. This is a small family owned place, and the staff are always very courteous and welcoming. Let’s talk about the food itself. Overall, I think it’s great, but I will admit that I don’t have too much to compare it too. I’ve had the Bulgogi, Meat Jun, Kalbi, BBQ Chicken, Fried Mandoo, Bibim Gook Su, and BBQ pork belly, and have not been disappointed yet. I plan on going even deeper into the menu on my successive visits. I really dig the cucumber kimchi too. Prices are slightly higher than say Chinese takeout, but lower than what you’d pay for say Thai or Indian food. Portions are fairly big, so you’re getting a good deal IMO. There are usually just two people behind the counter, but they seem to get things prepared pretty fast. All in all, I’m a big fan of Tasty Korean BBQ. It’s nice to have a place like this fairly close to where I work, and this is great spot to grab lunch. One of these days I’m going to drag my wife here for dinner too. Tasty Korean BBQ indeed!
