I’m sad this place shut down but it’ll be back soon enough. I hope the new place has a better location that can be viewed from the street along with an epic sign of the SOVA symbol! I know that they were doing well with the burgers but it was a bit of an overkill toward the end. If they branched out a bit and fine tuned the food, it would be on point. Just have to make sure that the wait staff makes everyone feel special. I felt like family there, but I know there were a number of folks that I took in that never returned. They need to tweak the music too. Fuzz would spin and the music would drown out any conversation that you would have forcing people outside. I figure they made most of their earnings off of the benefits and events. If they had an event planner that could piece things together a bit better the puzzle piece would fit. I have so much love for this place but I just wish it was better to the newcomers. Best of luck on the new location!

Absolutely LOVED this place! Awesome burgers and great fried green tomatoes! However. weren’t they suppose to reopen at a new location in November? Does anyone know if they ever moved?

This place has some of the best BBQ in the beach area. Unfortunately, last night was their last night open at this location. They’re moving because a church bought the building and is tearing it down. They should reopen in a couple months at their new location behind the hooters on General booth

Been here more times than I can count. Best BBQ in Virginia Beach. No question. Awesome staff. Menu has changed but ask, they still have ribs, and mashed potatoes. Always leave in a food coma. Staff is epic and service is top notch.

Arrived around 6pm on Saturday night, long before the live music is scheduled to start. The ‘background’ music was so loud that you could barely have a conversation. The sign inside the door said seat yourself and a young waitress said feel free to sit anywhere. The kids wanted to sit in booth by the wall. We sat there for ten minutes. During that time we saw a waitress come to the seating area twice but she was serving food and never even acknowledged us. After a few more minutes we left. We have eaten here before and the service was slow but this was simply unacceptable.

The food is 5 stars. The service is 1.5. We had the ribs, wings, and pulled pork. Everything about the food was great, I can not stress that enough. It was just the fact that our waitress was a little more«smoked out» than our meats hahaha forgot to bring a couple drinks, forgot to put portions of our order in, didnt know what was on tap, didnt know what beer was in bottles… dazed and confused haha. All in all a cool place with great food, would even be better if they hired a staff that was conscious that they were at work, not just chillin.

Had the pork and brisket combo. The pork was okay but the brisket was terrible. I could barely cut it with my knife. Our server was pleasant and the drink prices were good. I just can’t get past the poor quality of the bbq.

I’m kinda in love with the vibe here more than anything. We had just come from the dog park and wanted a bite where we could bring the pup. I called, and yes they can have dogs on the patio. Me and the hubs may have been the only people not rocking an full sleeve, but everyone was very chill. The patio is huge, with plenty of seating and corn hole boards all around. They even had easy bar access from the outside so I imagine this is just a really cool place to hang out when the live music is going and the rest of the biker gang show up. Seems like they host events here often. In terms of the food, pretty good bbq. The fries were a little limp which made me sad, but the meal on the whole is kinda what I was in the mood for. Once I get tats and a chopper I’ll be back to rep.

The food is fanatic. I wish I lived closer so I could go all the time. Good beer selections on tap with more on the way. Friendly staff(lots of cute females) Live music, pool tables, corn hole, fire pits on the patio makes for a great smoking section. This place has only been open for a few months and really deserves a chance. Not connected with the owners of the previous establishment(desil).

Any place that makes their own Bacon has gotta rock! And this place does! Very dark interior but a nice looking bar area clean rest rooms and a friendly staff. I had the smoked out burger topped with said bacon and pulled BBQ probably in my top 5 burgers of all time super flavorful and cooked perfect mid rare, my wife had the pulled pork very tasty but a bit dry, we ordered a side of hush puppies that were awesome served with a smoky cheese dip that was fab! Prices were fair and while the staff was friendly our serve was a bit off very nice but disappeared a lot! All in all I will be back they have a killer menu that I want to try most of!

If you drink beer with your meals this is the place for you! Good selection, great prices! The food was great too. You get a lot of food for the price. Needless to say, if you and your friends are looking for a hangout that won’t break the bank and is full of live music and cool people, this is it!

Awesome exciting place combining the best in food and live music! If you thought the old Diesel/Chrome was awesome, you definitely need to check out Smoked Out!

This place had only been open 6 days when we decided to try it out but I think they have a lot of potential. When my wife and I walked in we were greeted to some loud reggae music. There wasn’t anyone to seat us so we just grabbed a booth along the wall. Shortly thereafter, the waitress brought us our menus. I really liked the diverse barbecue styled items on the menu. I have been to a handful of barbecue spots around Virginia Beach and none of them really grabbed me. Smoke From Above has a pretty decent menu and Whitner’s isn’t bad either but there isn’t anything very exciting on the menu; luckily Smoked Out prevails! Their menu ranges from beef brisket cheesesteaks to bbq chicken wafflestacks, I dig it. I ended up going with the pulled pork platter w/hush puppies and a side of mushrooms. The pulled pork was pretty awesome. It didn’t come with much sauce which I think is great, you get a chance to enjoy the meat without sauce saturation. The hush puppies were pretty damn good but I wasn’t that big a fan of the mushrooms since they were cooked in beer… just my preference. All in all, I will be coming back to Smoked Out. The food was pretty awesome and they seem to be able to book some good live music. I’m amped to try the brisket next time! Side note: The wait staff is horrible, worst I’ve ever seen. This place could definitely use an episode on Kitchen Nightmares!
