Sheraton Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel

We had a nice and clean ocean view room. The staff was courteous and friendly. I’d love to go back again!

Very disappointed as this was our first stay as SPG member. Our room was next to a generator, so it was very loud. The TV did not work and the air vent in the bathroom was not working.

I have stayed here twice, it’s a very nice and clean hotel on the north end of the beach, everyone we came in contact with, from check in to check out, were friendly and genuine. Parking was complimentary and included valet, the garage is across the street. This property [at this time] is dog friendly, I did not need to pay any pet deposit or extra fee, which is great. I was surprised that unlike other dog friendly hotels there is no designated floor for people with dogs, so I was very uncomfortable leaving my dog alone because I did not want to disturb anyone in other rooms as she does bark for a short while when left alone. Otherwise it was another great stay here.

We stayed here a conference in November so the price was fine, but I can imagine how expensive it can probably get during peak season. The hotel is directly on the beach and the view is really beautiful. We had food served to us in the banquet rooms (which, I assume is the same food served during weddings) and I loved it. We had a salmon meal which was probably one of the best pieces of salmon I’ve ever had. The vegetarian pasta with tofu was also very good. The desserts were great and the coffee was good as well. One complaint I had was there was no coffee in the lobby unless you purchased it. Some hotels have complimentary coffee in the lobby. I suppose, because it’s such a large hotel, this would be perhaps expensive and hard to maintain.
The view is simply stunning and there’s a bar out by the pool for when people are laying pool-​side. Obviously the outdoor pool was closed in November, but I did notice the outdoor pool was pretty small.
There’s a few places to eat within walking distance and they were open even during off-​season.
I think the hotel itself has room for upgrades. The wallpaper and carpeting is a bit dated. The restaurant in the lobby is beautiful and has a great view of the ocean.

This is NOT the typical Sheraton and if you are used to booking Sheraton thinking you will get that quality, don’t book here. First off, the restaurant is absolutely horrid. The crab cakes were inedible (so much salt it burned) and even though there were about two tables occupied in the whole place, the service was terrible. Everyone there seemed to be new. The hotel is old and they skimp on everything. The hook for the shower curtain FELL into the shower when I was in it and all beads fell everywhere. The refrigerator was turned off so it took a couple of hours to cool it down. There are stains everywhere. The tissues were not new, they simply kept everything from the last people who were in the room. What else, oh the bellman/​valet actually got into a FIGHT with a customer who was staying at the Sheraton. There is a hairdryer, refrigerator, coffee (They skimp there too), shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. For all other amenities you are on your own. My room had the door connecting to the other room and you can hear the lady shouting at her kids all day. There are only two very slow elevators so I took the stairs several times. Don’t bother asking front desk to switch your room either, they make sure you feel like being a SPG is pointless.
As for the gym. I went in and there were no towels, no wipes for the machines, so I got a worker to refill all and they had no idea what to do. One worker told me someone spit on the floor the day before IN THE GYM. The gym is dirty and when I told the workers there could be a health risk by not having any wipes in the bin they had, they replenished it and started using WINDEX IN THE GYM as I was working out. They also starting half cleaning the windows. I felt bad for them cause they really were trying and were really nice, but were new and clearly there was no manager to train them properly.
I was extremely disappointed in this hotel and will not be staying here again. I thought by having a bar by the pool it would be decent, but the pool is up till 5 feet and is open to anyone. People from all over were using it cause you don’t need a key.
The only reason I am giving two stars is because the cleaning people were extremely nice in helping me get into my room after all the keys were deactivated for no reason.

Want a convenient space near the beach
Do not come here if:
–You have ever used your Starwood’s points anywhere else. This should not be a Starwood property.
–If you are allergic to dogs — they are everywhere
–If you are a Gold member and expect a proper upgrade

A good location to the north, a quieter, less crowded portion of the beach. Because of this and the kid’s pool this is a great family site. The rooms are reasonable in size, although the balcony is rather narrow to sit on. Staff are warm and helpful. I particularly like the on-​site restaurant and beach-​side grill (Cabanas) was excellent. SPG members save 20% on lunch /​dinner (not alcohol– it’s VA ABC rules). Good gym, laundry and other guest services round out the positives. The indoor pool is larger than most along the beach. Parking is across the street in a free garage. A touch pricier, but if looking for amenities this has the full selection. I will be back again.

I locked my card and wallet in the room. I went to get a new card and Betty Hailu refused to issue one because I am not Kendall. Then I explained to her that my boss booked the rooms for me and my co-​worker, She requested an address and I gave her yours then she refused again and Asked for ID which I didn’t have since I left my wallet I the room. After that she requested my 4 digits credit card and afaik I was not able to provide it.
I informed her that my kids are inside & I’m worry about them but she did not care nor showed any cooperation this is what upset me! Safety of my kids.
Then later, she asked the housekeeping to open the door for me and check the credit card, once we got in, I showed him my room keys and told him there is no need for the new cards and I needed to be with my kids. He then left.
At 12:14am someone start knocking on the door non stop, then left and came back again around 1−2am
This was very disturbing and scaring for my kids!
I understand their safety policies but kids safety is very serious, the lady wasn’t cooperating not caring… she gave me no option but to call the police to check on my kids

Eating at the Sheraton beach front restaurant and we were served with oysters in melted ice water. I asked the waitress if this is how they serve this and her reply is oh it’s been sitting in the kitchen while I was waiting for your chicken to cook. Seriously Sheraton you need to hire better servers and kitchen staff. I was having such a great vacation until I experience this at this Sheraton. We also ordered 18 wings and she only gave us one blue cheese sauce. She kept saying she’s so busy and there’s two other servers just standing watching her have a hard time.

Bed bugs!!! And the hotel manager is a d-​bag big enough to clean a whales vagina. Three small bugs seen in our bed Friday night and he claims «his hands are tied» about even calling a pest company that’s open on the weekends. Until the report is done Monday, there’s nothing he «can» do. Hasn’t offered to do our laundry, any bed bug control at all, or comp anything. (Why are you charging $ 300/​night for a room with bed bugs???) I have spent hundreds of nights in hotels and while the bugs are actually not the worst problem I’ve seen, the attitude of the management and every single person at the front desk is the worst I have experienced, heard of, or even dreamt of. Stay away– you’d have a better vacation looking at a screensaver of a beach.
Update: seems to be fleas not bedbugs. Still zero help from any manager or front desk staff. Really astounding. These people must just lie to their guests so they don’t have to help someone.

This hotel lost a reservation we had made in May for a July booking. When trying to confirm they denied having the first night in the system. After checking out for the second night that they did have confirmed, they charged my card for both nights, a total of 740.00. The manager on duty said we were charged a no show fee for the Friday night booking that they told us they couldn’t find. Anthony the manager was disrespectful and rude, the hotel incredibly inconvenienced our vacation plans. Even with proof that we stayed in a hotel nearby they still wouldnt remove the charges. Stay Away!

Oceanfront room and pet friendly in new wing. Room was nice & clean but not $ 320/​night nice. The room tax in Va Beach has always been incredibly high so no surprise there. And its incredibly hard to find a pet friendly hotel right on the boardwalk. So you’re going to pay if thats what you want.
Hotel has a lot of amenities nearby. Not included and you have to pay extra. $ 15 bike rental, $ 15 beach umbrella, etc. Free hotel parking garage across the street or valet your car for a tip. Very convenient.
Also beach shops and breakfast places (Pocahontas House) directly across the street.
North end of the strip so its more family friendly and new with nicer more upscale expensive restaurants within easy walking distance and no drunken loitering at night. If you are young, single & planning to party, the hotels south of the 14^th Street pier are more your speed.
Overall a nice but pricey stay. And Nikki at the front desk was very polite and helpful when I needed to extend my stay due to a tornado/​power outage back home.

I love staying at this hotel, we come down here at least once a year, its right on the boardwalk and many of the rooms have excellent views of the ocean. Rooms have been recently renovated especially the new addition that was add-​on on a few years ago. I suggest getting a suite on the ground floor if you can, gives you great access to the pool and the beach.

This hotel keeps the promise they make on their website. Its clean, staff is friendly and the rooms are nice. It is right at the beach and all the services you would be looking for.
Just be ready for the occasional fighter jet flying into the airbase. Its not to crazy though.
This sheraton seems to be one of the nicest hotels here.

Our bartender was super friendly and made us one of her signature drinks, lime-​aid. Refreshing and tasted really good. We ordered wings which were fantastic. Now as far our stay, the room smelled of dog and we had to ask for some air freshener. It took a bit to get hot water. We had a nice view of the ocean and kept the veranda door open to listen to the waves crash as well airing out the room. I would come back to Virginia Beach when its warmer and drink some more of those lime-​aids.

This hotel was Great! My dog was able to stay with us. The room was fresh and clean. The staff was the BESt!

First things first… all the reviews about the shower and hot water are true. I turned on the hot water last night and this morning and got nothing but ice cold water. While passing through the lobby I heard at least 5 guests complaining about the lack of hot water and they were all given discounts on their rooms because of it.
Aside from that… staff is nice. Location is good. Room is clean. The waterfront views are great.
I would never stay here again unless I wanted a cheap room in which case is book a room here… and complain every night about the water and they would give you a discount. Do not support this place. Let them go bankrupt or clean up their act.

We came, we saw, we conquered. Or should I say, «We saw, we conquered, we came». Thank you, Pitbull. Went here for my friends bachelor party. We had one of the suites on the 5^th floor. Our balcony gave way to a beautiful view of the outdoor pool and ocean. The three stars is because hotel staff told us to be quiet, I thought we were quiet. Maybe I accidentally drank too much. Either way — 3 stars for that. It is a short walk to Catch 31 but a long walk back if you’re drunk. And you can’t be drunk in public in VB. So you better run back.

Don’t go into the outdoor pool in late October. Seriously, don’t.

I saw other people had pets with them, even on my floor. So I don’t know how they distinguish which rooms/​floors are pet free?

This review is only for the bar and the bloody mary. Several of us stopped in here after the Shamrock half marathon to grab a drink, get out of the wind, and wait for our friends that were running the full. Nice view of the boardwalk, cozy seating, and an average bloody. I had two bloodies and ordered them spicy each time — no dice. Or maybe I just have a high spice tolerance. Regardless, it was a nice place to spend an hour out of the wind and share a drink with friends.
