Schakolad Chocolate Factory

I mean, it’s a chocolate factory. What else do you need to know? The smell when you first walk in is nothing short of heavenly. They sell all kinds truffles, barks, chocolate covered cherries, and if you come in around Valentine’s Day they sell chocolate body paint. Which I absolutely did purchase. They do custom orders and parties, too. Great place to shop for birthday and Christmas!

Pretty cool shop. They had lots of truffles but pretty much had all the typical things you would expect to see at a chocolate shoppe. One thing I didn’t see was chocolate covered strawberries which was a bummer because I love those.
I did try the chocolate pretzels which were good.
They only had one register so surprisingly it took a while to get checked out since you have to wait in line if there is more than one person. Seeing as it was the day before Valentine’s there was a pretty good sized line.
The register is also really old where the employees have to state the price for each item and the register person has to manually calculate each item. This adds to the wait time and if they mess up they have to start over again. I saw this happen with one customer who had a big order so checking him out took a very long time.
Decent shop. Friendly people. However I probably won’t be going here again.

Loooooove it! They have an amazing selection of AWESOME flavors that you won’t find anywhere else. The chocolates are just delicious. I would totally recommend, whether you want an afternoon pick-​me-​up, dessert for later, a gift… any excuse will do!

I don’t eat sweets often but I definitely had a blast here at Schakolad. My company had a small chocolate party where we got to write with chocolate onto chocolate bars and then make a Mr. Potato Head… made out of chocolate. The staff is incredibly friendly and everything is hand dipped and molded. It has a cute european feel to it with a big glass display of a huge array of chocolates. The pricing is affordable and the hand-​dipped strawberries are made to order. Fantastic little place!

My wife and I stop in here any time we have lunch in a neighboring restaurant.
I have never special ordered anything, we just pick out a handful of their various by-​the-​pound goodies. (My favorite so far was one made with ghost peppers, as soon as I tried one, I immediately knew what my dad was getting for his birthday! I can just picture him cutting these little pieces of chocolate into even smaller pieces so they’ll last him longer)
Nice, friendly people, we’ve enjoyed stopping in every time.

This place is amazing. They can and will custom create any ‘thing’ in dark, milk or white chocolate that you would like. Monday through Friday they run a Dollar Deal in which a treat is available for a mere $ 1. I personally love $ 1 Chocolate Strawberry Day as well as $ 1 S’more Bite Day. They also have a Chocolatier Summer Camp for kids, Chocolate Fountains etc…
This is a locally shop and the Assistant Jenna is always there in the afternoons and never questions my showing up for the Dollar Deal, she even remembers that I prefer white chocolate. They also have a loyalty card system & they keep the card for you which is the best part in my opinion. So every time I come in for my $ 1 chocolate fix, they swipe my card and I accumulate a few cents to spend at a later date!

We recently saw this place while dining down the way at Brother’s but it was after closing time, so we didn’t have a chance to stop in and check it out. However, I was looking for a gift for my wife and who doesn’t love chocolate? So, I made the trip over to Schakolad.
What I saw when I walked in was beyond my expectations. They had two full cases of various chocolates that they make in house. It was overwhelming at first to figure out what I might want to get for the gift. I was actually given a number of customization options to create my own gift and really personalize it. That was the real draw. I know I could have gone to any supermarket and picked up some turtles or Ghirardelli squares and probably been in good shape because those are good. However, coming here gave me the chance to pick a number of options that I know my wife liked rather than sticking with one or two types of candies.
I ended up going with some turtles, sea salt caramels with milk chocolate, almond and pecan clusters, and others that I cannot recall at the moment. You just tell them what you want and they load it into the box until its full of yummy candies! And, they are very good. We really liked everything we tried. And, while I was in the store, I was given several samples as I asked about a certain item. It was a nice touch to be able to try it before buying. I knew it would be a hit when I got home and it was!
The candy is fairly pricey so as Eric C. said, it’s not something I would do regularly. But, the personalization and service in store makes it a great option if you need to impress someone with a nice gift of chocolate. For the cost conscious, they have daily ‘dollar deals’ that give you the chance to try their chocolate on the cheap. On the day I went in, they had chocolate covered pretzels for a buck. Nice! I think strawberries are on the dollar deal list so definitely contact them to find out the specifics. Just be warned, if you go in for just a little bit you will be hard pressed to not walk out with more than you planned. You just get sucked into a chocolate trap… and that’s a good thing!

Some of the best chocolate covered strawberries I’ve had. They made mine while I was standing there so the chocolate was extremely fresh and the strawberries were plump. Their chocolates are on the expensive side so it’s certainly not something I’ll be visiting every day (even though I would like to). But before you leave here, you have to try the truffles! Get a box of them and try different kinds to find your favorite. mmmmmm truffles

Went to Schakolad for a Virginia Beach Jaycees social.
The workers were super friendly and knowlegeable about chocolate! They gave everyone free samples of their truffles after I told them about this one chocolate I had in cambodia with pepper, they immediately gave everyone samples of this chocolate with cayenne pepper.
They make custom chocolate designs as well as in house truffles. Chocolate taste is really good! Comparable to Lindt and Godiva.

super friendly. gives you a sugar high when you open the door. if you are in the mood for a quick snack, this is the place to go. try the dark chocolate sea salted caramels.

Who isn’t a chocoholic? I was pretty stoked about this place but when I went inside, there was little going on. Not much to stop in and order on the spot. Not a super exciting chocolate café or anything. They have mostly gifts and special orders that would work well as business gifts.
We decided to order some promotional gifts for my company. I went in several times to order various items, such as chocolate shaped construction hats with our company name on them. Not once, in all this time, did they even offer me a sample of chocolate. Kinda lame. You are spending all this money with them and they won’t even offer you a sample. Okay, that’s petty, I know. But it annoyed me.
The reason I give them only one star is because the hard hats were not stored correctly because when we picked them up, the chocolate had gone white in some areas and did not look fresh. Uck. We didn’t even want to give them to our clients. Also, I finally did sample one on my own. The chocolate was not on par with Godiva or Lindt. No wonder they don’t offer samples.
