Rudee Inlet Jet Ski Rentals

HORRIFIC! The staff didn’t check my belts so I wasn’t strapped in right. They didn’t even give proper instructions about where all the belts were supposed to go. I think they were a bit stand offish because they thought we were foreigners and didn’t speak English or something. They asked us where we were from but didn’t ask the other guests. Right after the lift off, I slipped out of the belt that serves as a seat and was hanging straight down the whole time. I was terrified and holding on to the top bar for dear life. I’m sure that the staff could tell the difference between my partner’s sitting silhouette and my hanging one but they didn’t bother to take us down right away and fix it. They carried on and let me dangle. The leg belts were digging into my upper thighs, my arms were hurting from pulling my entire body weight up, and my partner was concerned about me so wasn’t having fun either. We both tried to make the best of the situation and in a few minutes when we calmed down enough to finally enjoy the view, the staff decided to cut our ride short and brought us down sooner than the people who went before us. Terrible, painful and embarrassing experience. The boat ride was fun but not worth the whole fee by itself, about $ 198 plus tip. They didn’t even offer to take us back up again for a proper ride or give us a partial refund to make things right. I usually don’t give negative reviews on first visit but I want to spare others the trouble. My whole body still hurts. I was nauseous for over an hour afterwards and didn’t feel like doing anything else the rest of the day on my vacation. I don’t get motion/​sea sickness, been on plenty of rides and cruises. Be careful if you decide to go with them, ask to double, triple check everything.

Big thumbs down! Sketchy inlet on windy days, a lot of boat traffic and rude staff. Look north for the other option. MUCH better!

My husband and I went on individual jet skis for a half an hour. Had a great time but because of how expensive it is, we won’t do it again. It was a lot of fun cruising around and the employees were nice and helpful. It definitely worth going once.

Unless you looked this place up online, you would not realize that they had activities other than jet skis and parasailing.
I came here on a Saturday morning for kayaking. I felt as though the rental rate of $ 21 an hour was pricey, but it is right near shore drive so this is probably inflated for the tourists. Unlike other places you do pay first and then receive your kayaks so I assume that the hour time frame you paid for is pretty lax and not highly enforced if you happen to stay out for longer than an hour.
If I ever kayak again I probably wont come here mainly due to price and friendliness of staff, I have found cheaper rates with nicer staff elsewhere in the Virginia beach area… I will leave this place for the out of towners.

It was my birthday, and my boyfriend and I planned a day of fun, outdoor adventure in Virginia Beach. After being told to come back at a later time at the Rudee Rocket, we decided to check out this spot to check their prices for jet skiing. We had never rented a jet ski before and wasn’t sure how much it would cost to rent one. We were guessing around $ 65. Boy, were we wrong! Lol It costs $ 100 to rent a jet ski for a ½ hour. If you want to ride together, you pay an additional $ 10. You’ll pay $ 140 for a 1 hour rental. Since we knew we wanted to ride the Rudee Rocket afterwards, we decided we’d save some money and rent kayaks instead.
The man who served us was courteous. He explained everything to us and provided us with the form we needed to complete and sign. He called for someone to help us get our life jackets and kayaks. He was patient and explained to my boyfriend who had never kayaked before, some instructions and safety tips.
Once we got into our kayaks, we headed out deeper into the inlet towards The Virginia Aquarium. It was absolutely beautiful! We both thoroughly enjoyed watching the yachts, speed boats, and other kayakers pass by. We also saw lots of folks on the stand-​up paddleboats. Everyone was friendly and waved. The folks along the shore crabbing and fishing also waved at us as we passed by. Gotta love southerners!
When we returned, we were helped backed in and asked if we had a great time. We most certainly did! We had a wonderful experience! This was an awesome workout, too!

Did the tandem jet ski ride with my sister on our last day of vacation in VA beach. This place seemed like a popular jet ski rental site among tourists so we checked it out.
For $ 140 you get a solo ride on a ski, which isn’t bad for an hour of doing just about whatever you want on the ocean. It was an extra $ 10 per rider (and I saw some skis with four people on them).
The only rules are that while jet skiing you must stay between the fishing pier and the rock patch in order to not piss off police (or the employees). You also cannot go past the jet ski boat and get near the beach. Pretty self explanatory.
It was a fun ride. The skis are solid and have good throttle, and no problems occurred while in the middle of the ocean. We even saw two dolphins breaking the surface! That was awesome. There is no order out there; people go in all directions at all speeds. It was a quick hour but real fun.
A couple employees are kind of snobby, which is unfortunate. But most are cool and just look out for safety purposes. The girl who gave the quick ski speech was nice, too.
I definitely recommend it. The waves on the ocean are fierce from all the boats, which gives you an experience you’ll never find on a lake. You also can purchase a photo of you on the jet ski for $ 10. Just do it.

After reading all the reviews here and on tripadvisor and google I was skeptical, however many seemed to say that they didn’t know anything about this sport and then got scolded for it. I wouldn’t go skydiving or skiing if I didn’t learn the basics first either. Anyways, as a seasoned jetski/​wave runner rider I was happy with the trip. My girlfriend and I took an hour ride and everything ran smoothly. Everyone was also pretty nice, but a bit hectic. Jetskis were newer base model Yamaha Vx sports. 3 seaters, but no mirrors or reverse or side handles. Overall a decent value of $ 150 for an hour for a couple. The only thing I didn’t like was The choppy ocean water which was also rather cold, even in mid July. I’d go again though.

Fun fun fun!!! We had a great time. The price was not too bad and we felt completely safe. The staff weren’t too friendly but they were not rude. I would def. go again.

Wow, where to begin. The guys who own this establishment are unbelievably rude. They need to rename this place to Rude’s Inlet. Being from New York, I’ve been to plenty of places where the staff is rude or not friendly, but never in my life have I been to a place where the staff outright yells at their customers… quite shocking.
I came here with my father and brother to rent jet skis. When we first got to the dock, my father took off his sandals and was looking for a place to put them. After he put them in a certain spot, one of the older guys working there literally starting yelling, «NO, DON’T PUT YOUR SANDALS THERE!» I mean, cmon… my dad is 60 years old, is a kind soft-​spoken person, and was really looking forward to his first jet ski experience. The only reason why I didn’t start an argument right then and there was because we had already paid, and I didn’t want to further ruin my father’s experience.
After we were seated on our jet skis, we were told to put our waiver forms (which is in a plastic bag) «in the front of the jet ski.» The three of us had no idea where this «front of the jet ski» was that they were referring to. So, I asked one of the guys where I need to put it, and he kept yelling and pointing from 20 feet away, «THE FRONT, THE FRONT, THE FRONT!» Eventually, another one of the guys came over and opened a compartment in the front of the jet ski, which is where we were supposed to place the forms. Unless you are familiar with jet skis, I’m not sure how we were expected to know where this compartment was and how to open it.
At this point, my blood was boiling, but kept my mouth shut since my father had been looking forward to jet skiing for a long time, so I didn’t want to ruin it for him. After we returned from jet skiing, not a single person of the ten people on the dock said «thank you for coming» or «have a nice day» or «hope you had a good time.» Literally, it’s almost as if they were trying to ignore us.
If you are reading this review, then check out their Tripadvisor reviews as well… it’s comforting to know that at least we are not the only ones that had an awful experience there.
I don’t know if there are other jet ski rental locations in VA Beach, but if there are, I would highly recommend going somewhere else.
