This company was a life saver. My heating and cooling unit to our downstairs broke and we had another company come out and try to fix it and they said it was the compresser that was bad and we needed a whole new unit. Then I called Guy Smith heating and cooling. They came the same day and told me it was not the compresser and I did not need a new unit. They fixed it in an hr and I have heat again. l they saved us 5000 dollars. I highly recommend this company and especially the technician Brian that came to fix my unit. He was Profesional and explained everything to me. I will continue to use this company. They did a great job. Thank you so much.

This review is based off a request to have my heating unit serviced. Overnight I discovered it was blowing out cold air despite the thermostat being raised to 85 degrees. When I called 8am the next morning, the customer service agent answered the line so quickly I never heard it ring! She vetted my information and scheduled a same-​day-​appointment.
A short time later I was given a courtesy call the Technician was en route. Once the Technician, Marcus, arrived he immediately began asking questions about the history of the unit, while multi-​tasking & troubleshooting. Less than .30 minutes later, he discovered the hiccup, shared his findings with me and what was needed to resolve the issue.
In addition, while wrapping up his visit, he was very insightful to share tips on how I could properly care for my unit moving forward.

Excellent company. Our air conditioner was not working. We called two other repair places. One never answered his phone (he may have retired). The other said they could be there in two weeks. We saw good reviews for Guy Smith and decided to give them a call. They answered «How can we make you smile?» and that was their proven philosophy. They could make it the next day, even agreeing to show up at the hour I needed them. Five minutes before the appointed time, they called to say they were en route. The gentleman who came at first seemed young, but definitely knew exactly what he was doing. I managed heavy vehicle mechanical programs, and was impressed by his professionalism and diagnostic approach. Plus he did a great job putting up with me. I will definitely be using Guy Smith in the future.

Imagine the setting: it’s Monday morning and the temp outside is well into the 80s when we walk in to find our office also well into the 80s. There were 3 very unhappy and almost cranky women in here. My boss called a competitor (she used them last year) and was told they couldn’t get to us until tomorrow, possibly Wednesday. When she told her boss he said «just start calling everyone». She knows I Unilocal so she pulled up HVAC places based on their reviews and we settled for Guy Smith. She called him at 9:21am this morning and at 12:56 we received a call that the tech was on his way. He showed up here exactly 15 minutes later. By 2:21pm our A/​C was back up and running. This is what I call service!!! The other guys told my boss that he had friends in other HVAC businesses that were all swamped and even if she called around she’d run into a wait. Ha!
Our problem was a fried pole connector and low freon (or whatever they put in them now). The tech showed my boss the connector, he added 2 lbs of freon and replaced the connector and we are all now happy as clams! On a day where we reached a heat index of 101 at 11:30 we are super thankful for Guy Smith and their super fast response time! I would definitely recommend them.

Guy Smith’s website has all kinds of statements that they have 24-​hour emergency air conditioning repair service. Over the Memorial Day weekend, my A/​C went out, and I called them. The phone rang about 15 times before I gave up. I called several times, thinking maybe I had dialed the wrong number, but it was the right one. Why did I call over and over when it was clear no one would answer? Because it SAYS 24-​hour emergency air conditioning repair, and I couldn’t fathom the website would say that and it NOT be true! The last time I called, the call went to a voicemail box. The voicemail said something like, you have reached the maintenance department, if you need service, call the main number. But this was the main number that I had called and gotten the answering machine.
It just so happens that I live within walking distance from Guy Smith’s Virginia Beach office, so I went there to make sure maybe there wasn’t anything wrong with the phone line, see if someone was there that I could speak to. It was Memorial Day, but the website says 24-​hour emergency air conditioning repair, so there has to be someone there, right?
Nope.
There’s an option on the website to schedule an appointment. When I tried to, a pop-​up box said it seemed like my situation was urgent (sparks flying out of the unit), and was I sure I wanted to schedule an appointment online. Since no one would pick up a phone, I said yes. I went all the way through the end of June and into July, and the site said there were no appointments available. I’m so disappointed.
When I reached someone at a different company and the tech came, I told him I’d called many places, including Guy Smith. He was surprised. Guy Smith has a good reputation, even among their competitors. I’m disappointed to see a local business that I can walk to doesn’t live up to the praise or even to the commitment they made on their own website.

I used Guy Smith today to check on my AC unit for upstairs. Last summer we used another company and they did a temporary fix to make it blow cold air, but it only lasted a few months. This time, we found some pretty good reviews for Guy Smith and decided to give them a call. Brian, the technician, was honest, gave me our options, suggested what he would do, even let me see the problems for myself. By the way, we called this morning, and they came out right away. That’s a bonus! Anyway, he was helpful and friendly and in the end we decided it was best to replace the whole unit. We got a great price for it and they even waived today’s fee for us. They are also replacing our unit tomorrow, so super convenient! I’d say they are a great company to work with if you’re having issues with your AC or heat.

I had a wonderful experience with Guy Smith. I had trouble all summer with my AC when it got very hot so I wasn’t surprised when our heater stopped working right when it got cold last week. I called Guy Smith instead of going through my home warranty like I did all summer. Best decision ever. They sent out on of their tech’s, Brian, who came the same day I called. He found a couple minor things and the heat started coming out hotter again but my air flow was still terrible like it has been since the summer. I was told by several other AC/​Heat companies that my duct work just had issues and the intake was too small. Instead of leaving after it started coming out hotter Brian went back into my attic to review the duct work and see why I didn’t have a stronger airflow. He found out that there was a media filter installed up there that was basically hidden away. Once he removed it and told the unit not to use it our air flow was fantastic! It has kept up without an issue ever since and air flow is finally there. I will be using Guy Smith and asking for Brian from now on!

I called 3 places for estimates last year when I need an entire new heating/​cooling system and also new hot water heater in my home.
What I needed: 2.5 ton AC unit for the house exterior (Goodman). I also needed them to replace the air handler on the interior. (Apollo system). In addition, I needed a harder to find Water Heater, a 35,000 BTU in order to handle the Apollo heating system. (Previous water heater was 25 yrs old and a slow leak developing, so time to replace that baby before it went up like the fountains at the Vellagio…)
First I called A-​1 American. A-​1 American’s quote: $ 10,390.25, «reduced» to $ 9,035.00, before taxes and after the «15″ discount».
Then I called Guy Smith Heating + cooling. Their quote: $ 6,555.00.
I went with Guy Smith, and glad I did! Installed everything, good welds around the water heater piping, new thermo in the house too, they did great work.
I even had a «blocked drain line» issue that was probably not even their fault (primary line from the drain pan blocked, but not the secondary) and they came out «blew that line out later on the same day I called for no charge.
I still recommend all folks get quotes from 2 or 3 different places when getting this kind of work done, but make sure Guy Smith is on the list of folks you get an estimate from.

I’ve used these guys in the past and I just used them again ⁰⁷⁄₂₀₁₃. I have to say they treat the customers as pedestrian which wasn’t to great however they Did deliver a quality product at a market price. It pays to know the unit you want and tell them to install it. Nice work overall for me.
