Econo Lodge Oceanfront

Good points — most of the staff is friendly, it’s right in the middle of the boardwalk, you can get a nice view of the beach.
Bad Points — I made the best of it but this is definitely a budget hotel with a motel feel. There’s one elevator and it’s extremely slow, the room is old and smells musty, there’s no a/​c in the hallways above the 1^st level so the halls are hot while you’re waiting for the hot elevator. I’d rate the free breakfast 1 out of 5 stars. We just paid the next day because it was yuck.
And the garage is very narrow and built at a slant so if you value your car beep when going around corners and park early so you can get the least slanted spot so when someone parks next to you they don’t hit your car door. And the pool is a little larger than a hot tub lol.
Worst point — I was vacationing with my 16 year old daughter who was standing on the balcony eating a piece of cookies and cream fudge. Someone in the building was smoking weed I could smell it. the security guard called my room and accussed my daughter of smoking weed on the balcony. I told him she wasn’t he didn’t believe me and said he was coming to my room. He didn’t come up there so I called back down to the front desk and told him I didn’t appreciate him accusing my daughter of doing that and next time ask before aggressively making accusations etc. he pissed me off and had a nasty attitude. I told him I smelled the weed also however it wasn’t coming from my room just because my daughter was on the balcony that was a stupid assumption on his behalf, we were on the 9^th floor! He couldn’t even see what was in her hand, he said something white, I’m like yeah cookies and cream fudge!!! Really we can’t eat fudge on the balcony smh.

About a month ago, I needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of DC for a few days. I wanted to go to Virginia Beach and stay in a beachfront hotel. After doing some quick research online, I settled on this hotel. I reserved a room with double beds, a balcony (I requested an upper floor room). The online reservation process was very easy.
Later on in the week, I arrived in the City of Virginia Beach and found the hotel using my Waze app. I negotiate through the very tightly spaced parking garage and found a parking space with no problem. I will caution anyone driving through the parking garage that you must drive very slow and use caution. After parking, I proceeded to the front desk and checked in with no problem. After getting my key cards, I proceeded straight to my 9^th floor room.
Like a kid opening a new toy, I eagerly opened the room door using the key card. The room appeared clean at first glance. The room size was so-​so, but it definitely sufficed since it was only me. The bathroom passed my cleanliness test with flying colors. There was a mini-​kitchen in the room that included a small dining table, a stove, a microwave, a small refrigerator, and cabinets. Not bad at all. I checked the balcony. Apparently, the cleaning people did not bother to clean the balcony. There was a cup on the window ledge that was full of water with a bunch of cigarette butts in it. Additionally, there was one other empty cup with an unknown liquid substance in it. Of course, I discarded the two cups. But that should have been taken care of prior to my arrival.
The wifi was alright. In the late hours (after midnight), the wifi signal would alternate between a very weak signal strength and a strong signal strength. Nevertheless, when I needed it to surf the internet, I had no major problems.
The hotel itself is directly on the oceanfront. The rear view of the beach and ocean was nothing short of spectacular. And there is easy access to the beach from the rear of the hotel on the first floor.
During my four day/​three night stay, I do not have any issues with the hotel staff, namely the front desk. The women at the desk answered my questions and assisted me greatly in dealing with a lockbox/​safe issue in my room.
It is unknown if I will ever go to Virginia Beach again in life. But if I do, at least I can keep Econo Lodge Oceanfront near the top of my considerations of places to stay along the Virginia Beach oceanfront. Minus the aforementioned issues, I enjoyed my stay here at the hotel.

We stayed here for the weekend and couldn’t be happier. Ended up needing a room for an extra night during an event weekend. Every hotel on the strip was booked solid and we were lucky enough to grab a cancellation. They were so accommodating knowing our situation and we were even able to stay in same room. The breakfast was decent and the room was clean. The view was fantastic and the indoor pool was a nice plus. Not the biggest pool, but the kids loved it either way. The staff was so friendly, makes you want to return again one day.

This hotel need a upgrade bad! Room very small pool small! Best thing is location and view. My room was very dusty the top of the curtains has a lot of dust on it.

This is a budget friendly hotel and the staff are very accommodating. Unfortunately, there is major construction work occurring on the lot next-​door with an active piledriver during the day, including the weekend – see picture. That’s right, I said a piledriver! It’s about 40 yards away. My bed is actually shaking with each drive. Boom, boom, boom! Of course, that’s not the fault of this hotel’s management. But It did impact our stay. You would be best advised to call the front desk before making reservations to ask if the construction work next-​door has been completed. If not, then steer clear.

Room was good it was very affordable in off season 58.00 ocean front. Room was clean breakfast is where it all fell through juice yogurt assorted buns and waffle but for the price you can’t expect much also beware or the parking garage it’s safe but very low ceiling and a tight squeeze I bet it’s very rough in season pool is very small and I don’t like that the front desk copies my credit card

The front desk clerk checked me in like I was coming to prison. She talked really fast and had a pissed-​off tone. The other two guys I saw at the front desk seemed a lot friendlier. The cleaning ladies were very friendly and polite. The continental breakfast was decent. The building and room weren’t the cleanest but it was suitable for a 2-​night stay (on top of the blankets), and had a pretty good view from the balcony. It’s not a luxurious place by any means, but I’m not fancy. So this place was ok.

Staff was nice but room was very small. Floors are dirty I hated to walk with no shoes on yuck… I laid white hotel towels down and you should of seen how dirty they got… Bottom floor baloney I had was dirty garbage was on it from last people air conditioner water from room above kept filling my baloney full if water
Baloney sliding door was slimy And really filthy oh and I had checked for bed bugs negative thank goodness but I found cracker crumbs and sand I told them and he changed my bed linens but he didn’t even whips bed protector off or change it
Then I asked for a rollaway bed and he had enough balls to charge me 10.00 more a night !!! After complaint about the disgusting room

To be honest we had no complaints other than the few amenities in the bathroom but i guess if we would have asked we would have recieved (hmmm v biblesque lol). Stay was short but fairly pleasant and the best thing about the jotel was that it eas right off the boardwalk so we ran back when we were tired from
baking in the sun and needed a shower before heading out.

I read the reviews for this hotel on
and they were rated at a 2.5. It seems a little unfair as this is a budget friendly hotel. The pool is very small, but I wasn’t there for the pool. It’s located right on the beach and in the heart of downtown VA Beach. Our room was clean and the only noises we heard were the fighter jets flying overhead, but is there a way to avoid that there? Anyway, the room was decent, the beds were comfy, and the staff was friendly, but the breakfast was a joke. I suggest staying away from the waffles. They were on par with a glue cake. Point is, I was happy with my stay there because I knew I wasn’t staying at a swanky high priced hotel and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Poor room condition but good service. Water stain along the wall, stain on the comforter, etc. But the bathroom was remodeled.

This is our second time in this hotel and i think the last one.
First positives: good location, an OK breakfast.
Negatives: Except of linens nothing was clean. We found lids from the bottles and crumbs of chips on the floor, 100year dust on the room curtains, mold in the VERY small and uncomfortable bathroom with no working ventilation, with yucky sticky curtain clinging to your body every time you are taking shower. But most upsetting is to pay high price (about $ 250 p/​night) for these poor accommodations + they cheat on you doubling their safe and some other fees. This is the first hotel I’ve stayed when you find your booking conformation charges will be different from the actual charges. We are talking about just few dollars, but it just becomes a last drop in the bucket. Dishonest people. No more staying in this hotel for us.
