Deluxe Nails and Spa

I love this place. I’ve been coming here ever since they had opened. I’ve watched it grow and recommended to my friends. It’s clean and friendly. The staff always greets with a smile. It amazes me that even though there are disgruntled patrons, they do their best to make them happy. They are always accommodating. I still would highly recommend this place.
I read the reviews of others to see what they say about this establishment. The ones that catch my eye are the ones that are quick to complain about the negatives, however they still come back.
To anyone who reads my review, I highly recommend this place. It’s awesome!

This salon actually deserves a 0 star rating.
This salon has more than once left me extremely disappointed and feeling that I wasted my money on what I thought was a decent nail salon. The first time I went I got a full acrylic set and was very impressed with the results! However the last two times I’ve been I have left feeling angry. I went to get my acrylics refilled by Don, who had done them before. Not only did he do a terrible job at filling them, but rushed through painting French tips, and I left the salon with my nails feeing rough and scratchy (how he got acrylics to feel like that on top is beyond me).
I returned two weeks later to get the acrylics off. I then tried S and S gel which is supposed to strengthen your nails and last at least two weeks. I am not rough on my nails at all and after 4 days they had already become cracked and chipped all over, eventually becoming very painful.
Also, last time I went as I was leaving I saw an iPad with a technician’s name on it and a timer. I also seemed to recall hearing multiple timers during my visits as well. A friend had told me that every technician has to preform their services within the time limit or they will be reprimanded. This only reaffirmed to me that this salon only cares about making money and not giving people solid customer service.
Please don’t continue to waste your money at this establishment any longer.

Clean and they use liners in the pedicure bowls which I loved. I however wasn’t pleased with the gentleman who did my pedicure. He never once really looked at my actual feet until he was Polish/​trimming them. He looked anywhere but at what he was actually doing! The massage wasn’t a deluxe spa pedicure, he never once rubbed my actual feet, just my legs :((I don’t know if I would return based on my experience since I live 20 plus minutes away from here.

The shop has some of theis most amazing technicians ever. However, the owner is obnoxious and rude. If you go, ignore her… she’s «special»

Great atmosphere, nice and relaxing music, and a good staff. The Herbal Spa Pedicure is fantastic. Cindy took good care of me! I will definitely come back to see her.

The good news about this business is that they offer a guarantee that their shellac nails will last at least a week. The bad news is, you will certainly need to cash in on this guarantee. Six days after having a French shellac manicure, eight of my nails chipped away, dramatically so and I did I return, asking for a redo. A management representative summoned the tech to redo my manicure and herein lies the problem. While my nails were redone, the hostility from the employee who was forced to honor the contract, was overwhelming. The technologist, «Sam», spoke in his native tongue (NOT English!) to his coworker as she shot snickering glances at me throughout the manicure, adding to my discomfort. The finished product was an inferior manicure but will tide me over until I can return to my preferred salon. Despite being a Kempsville native, I usually travel the distance to D & Q Nails, (4701 Shore Drive). Donte runs a tight ship and has NEVER allowed a client to leave without total satisfaction. Clearly my decision to utilize the salon closer to home was a huge mistake and will not be duplicated. Save yourself the time and money. This salon is a factory-​style establishment and repeat customers are not the norm nor the priority.

Overall I have had pretty decent experiences here but the last few times I have gone it seems to be going downhill. For example I just went on the Friday before valentines day, my birthday is on Valentines day so I figured I’d treat myself to a nice manicure and pedicure and eyebrow wax. I came early in the day when there was almost no one there. I figured everyone would be on their A-​game since It was the day before valentines day and that is when most women want to look nice. Well any way, I waited forever for someone to come and greet me, they rushed me to sit down to get my pedicure started, the lady doing my pedicure had obviously NEVER done one by herself before. Someone was looking over her shoulder the whole time which I appreciated but they didn’t correct her when she did things wrong!!! She about mutilated my feet cutting skin. She made me bleed multiple times and was not apologetic at all! She put lotion on my legs WHILE THEY WERE STILL WET! Then when it came to actually painting my nails another woman came over and did the actual painting while the newbie watched. I wanted a simple white heart painted on my big toe and the lady completely butchered it. I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it even though it looked HORRIBLE, I’m a pretty easy going person but at this point I was getting a little nervous. I had asked to get my eyebrows waxed and the woman who did them seemed very confidant. Only after I left and really inspected my eyebrows did I notice how they were two different sizes!!! Now onto my manicure, if you can call it that. I paid for a full on manicure and all I got was some cuticle trimming and paint. Again the newbie made me bleed on FOUR fingers and no apologizes at all! I was so confused and flustered with the whole experience that I just left without voicing my concerns. I tipped like a good customer but I completely regret leaving a tip they most certainly didn’t deserve it. I felt blown off the whole time and my hands and feet were so sore for the next few days, and of course this was right before my birthday/​Valentines day. All I wanted was to treat my self to a nice «spa time» but I did not get what I was expecting. This experience will seriously make me look for another place to go to get my nails done.
The only reason they get 2 stars is because before this horrible experience I had pretty okay experiences here. I even came here with my wedding party for everyone to get their nails done and had a fantastic time. They even went out of their way to go next door to edible arrangements to get me a chocolate covered strawberry when they realized I was the bride. That was in 2012 but since then my experiences have slowly gotten worse this last time was just the final straw. Maybe if they get things back to the way it used to be I’ll give them another shot but for now I think I’ll be on the lookout for a new nail place.

Short story. This is the worst pedicure I’ve ever had. Not only was the water cold, there was no massage, even though I upgraded to a spa pedicure. Slapped lotion on my legs and rubbed it in quickly. Extremely hot wax didn’t let it cool at all, Nail polish had to be redone on certain toes. Hated saying something, but when I did she just looked at me and said $ 32. Offered a gift card but I didn’t even want to go back. Glad it was over and I could leave.

Used to love this place but now it’s becoming an assembly line sorta speak. They are timed to do everything so it always feels very rushed. Salons and Spas are places you visit to wind down and feel relaxed but not this place. Time to shop around.

I will only go there for their Herbal Spa and that’s it! I do not like how they do their acrylic or manis. Pedi are fine and the $ 40 Herbal Spa deal that seems to never go away is great! The ambiance is the only thing that makes them unique and will go back for. Other than that… will search for something better all around.

Walked in… After standing for a few minutes someone finally acknowledged me by asking me how can she help me and pick me color. After another five minutes or so she popped back out and told me I could have a seat at a pedicure bowl… No water was ran and there was no attendant for me at the bowl. I was curious why I needed to wait barefoot. After another few minutes or so minutes I just left… Pedicures aren’t supposed to be annoying. I’m not sure if they were too busy, the lady was on break, etc but overall… I don’t have time. Twenty minutes of my life gone forever :(

The end result is decent but the service is such a hit and miss with this place. Maybe 2 out of the 5 times I’ve been here have been pleasant but I usually get the option of waiting for 45 minutes or getting placed with the rudest nail tech. Sometimes I get lucky and get both. I’m not returning now because it just isn’t worth it. I don’t mind up selling customers but when I say no 3 times it just gets annoying. So overall they are pushy, rude (especially the older lady) and do an average job. Btw if you didn’t get your full massage time it’s because you most likely didn’t but trust me they intend on having you pay 50 dollars for a pedicure as if you did receive one.

Very beautiful looking salon. Here are some of the issues I have first yesterday my friend and I came in for a pedicure they asked my friend to do the herbal pedicure not really telling her any other options. of pedicure they had. I asked for a price list looked at their options and price and pointed the price at my friend and said this is the pedicure you want? Which is a $ 50 service on their price list, they told us it was $ 40, still if you are planning to upsell you should give yoir client the options and pricing they have. Do not automatically assume they want to pay for a $ 40 pedicure it woild avoid arguments when it comes time to pay. The staff is nice, and friendly maybe a little too overly friendly? I come to relax. I really don’t want to be asked 10 million questions. There was constant talking in vietnamese throughout the salon, it takes away from the customers.

They did an incredible job! They were extremely friendly, decently priced and the environment was so relaxing! I will absolutely be coming back! It’s a little hidden which I think makes it so much better. It’s just a very serene place and the spa pedicure was well needed in the line of work I do. Definitely go here and try out the spa pedicure!

Only reason I’m giving them one star is because zero wasn’t an option! Spent two hours getting a manicure and a pedicure to have services done by an inexperienced nail tech! And after the two hours, my feet were still not dry! How does that happen?! Went back in to get it fixed and took another ten minutes and I surely was not going to wait for another two hours especially with a crying baby in the store. Who brings a crying baby into a so-​called spa?! I should’ve known better especially since every other experience has been horrible as well! Seriously DO NOT RECOMMEND this place!

For the most part have always had god service. Had a few girls that were not as good. I learned get the spa pedicure and when possible ask for the same person. Prices are competitive. They have coupons and Monday thru Wednesday special for a free eye brow wax. They have a super huge selection of nail colors.
They do only accept tips in cash so be warned. Says you can tip on card but I have had them so no. Overall I keep coming back. Pedi polish lasts forever usually. I have not done many manicures or other services yet. Herbal spa pedicure is pricey but an awesome treat if you have the extra $$. Usually you can walk in they have a ton of pedicure chairs but less manicure stations.

I really should stop coming to Deluxe Nails and Spa. My mom and I went here last Sunday because it was near the parentals. It was a factory in there; they got us in and out so that there was no downtime in between clients. They didn’t refuse customers, and our wait time was only about 15 minutes. An employee openly kept track of which chairs would be available while clients were still sitting in them. It was also awkward climbing into the chairs as I couldn’t open the arm chairs to slide in. The chairs were closely packed next to each other, and I bumped into a neighboring client. The technicians were rushed. What worsened my experience was that I was injured for the second time here. I had asked my pedi tech to snip off a tiny bit to relieve my ingrown nails. She cut off too much and too deep. It bled and hurt. She apologized, cleaned the area and got a band-​aid. Luckily, my nurse self had Neosporin in my bag. Furthermore, she didn’t completely paint my nails as the sides were bare. My gel manicure also wasn’t the greatest. I still had dry cuticles and dry skin remaining. The mani tech only gave a scrub at the end of my mani. Then he said to wash my hands and I was done. No lotion massage. The gel polish was almost transparent especially near my cuticles. It already started fading/​chipping three days later. The nail files used during the mani and pedi were overused and should’ve been tossed 20 clients ago. My toes swelled and throbbed as I worked 12+ hours the next day. :(
The only cool aspects of this nail salon: They placed new, disposable plastic covers inside the pedicure baths and opened a set of sterilized tools for each customer. The herbal spas with hot stone massages, personal paraffin dip and hot towels were temporarily relaxing. The salon’s business cards at the entrance gave $ 10 off for herbal spa pedicures.

Great service & prices. Love the glitter white & pink nails. Gel polish for pedicures for an extra $ 15 is great when you want a quick dry & the polish last longer.
They do a great job waxing eyebrows, facials & more at very reasonable prices.

Service is a hit or miss. I try to avoid the men here. I’ve had horrible experiences with them when they’ve done my nails & pedicures. I found that they don’t do as good job as the women, partially because they tend to rush. Other than that, this place doesn’t smell as bad as other nail salons, it’s clean, there are a ton of the massaging type of pedicure chairs, and it’s very spa-​like. I thought prices were reasonable. They’re always busy so I definitely recommend calling ahead.

They move so fast… and talks even faster… My first time ever getting a mani– pedi– spa treatment and it was just an «ok» experience. The ladies felt like they just rushed everyone in and out. I mean, I would’ve appreciated a little instruction first, since I’ve never done this stuff before. It’s different when you grow up having your aunt/​mom do your nails for you at home.
Anyways, the spa treatment was nice for a few hours. Note to self, wear shorts next time instead of having to roll up my pants knee high. I got one of the rose petal lemongrass tea treatment. She lathered me up in layers of oils in stages then scrubbed with hot stones. It felt so nice that I was getting extremely sleepy. The massage chairs didn’t help with the sleepiness either. To be honest, you could probably take a nap through the whole process.
The shellac was great. She put it on pretty fast and their UV dryers works wonders, but they didn’t provide any sunscreen for your hands. So another tip, bring a small one. Pretty sure those things are not great for your skin.
In either case, I probably will be coming back, but not for the treatment, just a regular mani– pedi.
