I was so excited to try Cracker Barrel since it’s not in New York, but what a complete disappointment. My friends and I stopped here on our way down south. On first glance, I thought I arrived at work. which is a nursing home, but I was still eager to have grandma’s southern cooking. or so I thought. I had a salad that I wish had the cheese grated as opposed to the block I received. My friend ordered a chicken salad, and the chicken was barely there. We received complimentary biscuits and cornbread, but as hard as they were, I see why it was complimentary. According to my friends, the water was tap and clearly from the nearest well, or maybe the Delaware memorial bridge. I had the pleasure of having the diabetes induced fruit juice *runs to check sugar* no one in our group really enjoyed their food, and we wished we stopped at Applebee’s instead. I wish there was a better outcome here Cracker Barrel:(

Every time I visit my family in Virginia, we always make a trip here on account of my obsession with the food. The service is consistently stellar, the sweet tea is always brewed just right, and I’ve never had an issue with any meal I’ve ever ordered. I only go for two things here: the old timer’s breakfast, or the chicken n dumplins plate, with fried apples and sweet baby carrots. I always ask for apple butter for the biscuits. It’ll change your life. The chicken and dumplings are always well-salted, the fried apples have a wonderful consistency, and the baby carrots are like a sweet comfort food for me. The breakfast here is pretty average, especially for what they charge, but it’s not like you would avoid coming for breakfast to ensure you don’t have to order it. Of course, I love the cute shop and all its many items, from body products and candles to old fashioned candies and toys, clothes, interior decorations, etc. Everything is a little overpriced, though.

This was my first time visiting here. I loved their food! They have a game on every table. It looks like a triangle. don’t know what it’s called but it was fun! I also bought some candies at the shop while I was waiting to be seated :) I had an iced raspberry tea(half sweet) it was so goooood!!! My waitress was really kind too! She gave me a refill of my tea togo. I enjoyed being there! I’m sure I’ll go again :)

I love the food, very good! Pancakes are the best especially with the real maple syrup they give you. My family and I fight over the pancakes lol. After you eat you can shop in the gift store. They have so many awesome items and the prices are not bad at all! Love Cracker Barrel!

Great tasting southern favorites! Been here several times and have always received good food and service. My last trip here on a Saturday for lunch was extremely busy. They had a hostess all the way at the store entrance instead of at the front of the restaurant in order to get customer names on the list. Pretty convenient because you then progess into the store eating up time shopping country-style household items and candies. If not a shopper, you can sit on their rocking chairs outside and enjoy the weather in the shade and play a game of checkers. The wait didn’t seem too long when they called our names over the intercom that our table was ready. I was too busy checking out the candy section. They had new items on the menu so had to give one a try. Pacific Salmon patties. Almost like a crab cake but with salmon instead. Two sides of your choice are included with the meal so went with the fried ocra and tomato/cucumber/onion salad. Wife went with her habitual meal of chicken and dumplings with the same sides. Choice of biscuit or cornbread to accompany meal. Good service from Dakota efficiently managing several tables during the busy visit. The entire staff actually seemed to be well-prepared for the rush as there were a lot of servers and staff there.

This place is great. Often, there is a long wait. Which is understandable since it’s so awesome. The country store is well organized and extremely cute. I’ve been at least 30 times since it opened, probably more than that. The service has always been wonderful. It’s very pretty and well decorated(as are all cracker barrels) and it’s perfect for kids since it’s fairly noisy. They have a huge menu as well. Not to mention the location is great and easy to access and right in the center of things.

Real good food — and they do their catfish just how I like it. Would’ve given 4 or 5 stars except their To-Go service is sloooooooooooooooooow! Don’t bother with it — just take the time to eat in!

This was my first time ever at Cracker Barrel and I was surprised that I actually liked it! Typically I don’t enjoy southern restaurants but the atmosphere was awesome. There was an adorable little gift shop at the front of the building filled with anything you could think of — clothes, toys, candy, house décor. The staff was pleasant and our waitress, Taylor, was absolutely delightful. The food was ehhh(except for the jam biscuits! Soooo good) but the portion sizes and good price made up for it.

I been going here for a long time and it’s a hit and miss with the service. Great for breakfast. Dinner steaks suck but the fried fish is great.

Having a one and a half year old has made my husband and me take-out connoisseurs. After an extremely long day at work on Friday, neither of us feels like coming home and making dinner, so for two Fridays in a row, we decided to go to ol’ faithful Cracker Barrel. I like that they have healthy options for me and comfort food for hubby. Plus, i could bathe in their biscuits and apple butter, so that’s an added bonus. Despite having ordered at the same time both Friday evenings, our experiences each time were polar opposites. Last week, we called around 6:30 and a lovely young lady answered. She tried to send out call to the back, where they process take-out orders. The phone just rang repetitively. We went through a cycle of her answering, putting us on hold, and listening to ringing thrice, and then she called for a manager. She was super sweet about it! Finally the manager came on the line. He was EXTREMELY rude and short in all of his comments. He had absolutely no personality, which is not ideal when dealing with customers. When I asked how long it would take, he hung up on me… nice. When my husband arrived to get the food about 30 minutes later, it wasn’t even ready. He had to wait and said the same young lady I spoke with over the phone kept apologizing. The food was good, as usual, but they left out a few condiments(salad dressing), which was not a big deal since I was at home. This week, the phone rang once, we were greeted instantly, directed to the back to a young lady who took our order quickly and efficiently. She was also extremely pleasant. :) I LOVE Cracker Barrel, but I expect more from their managers who answer the phone. Everyone has a right to a bad day, but this guy was just rude for no reason. :/

My favorite part of breakfast is running to the toliet to vomit after biting into my eggs to find they taste like bleach and then paying for the luxury of embarrassment . I will never eat here again.

The food was ok not what I’ve experienced from previous Cracker Barrels. Service was not good at all waitress acted as though we were annoying her. Had to ask multiple times for condiments. Some of the people from my party recieved the wrong food or cooked the wrong way requested.

If Cracker Barrel was open 24/7, I would probably be eating breakfast here everyday. Their menu is divided into breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I only ever gotten breakfast here. Their pancakes have got to be my favorite. The texture is a bit crispy on the outer edges and delicate on the inside. I fall in love all over again every time. And nothing beats their warm bottled 100% syrup. They’re biscuits and gravy are gratifying as well. I’ve also tried Grandpa’s Country Fried Breakfast which is bomb. They have daily specials, Thursday is the best day to go bc they have what I call a Thanksgiving platter that comes with turkey, mash, corn, gravy, and stuffing. Every time I’ve been here it’s usually busy, the servers here work hard, and the employees are friendly. I could eat Cracker Barrel everyday of the week but since it’s so good I only come where when I treat myself.

Party of eight — then changed to nine thanks to me showing up. :-) Met up at 5:30 last night. If you’ve been to one Cracker Barrel you’ve been to them all(mostly). The food is pretty much the same. Friday’s offered fried fish, cod or cat fish, two sides, etc. My husband always has his«go to» meal, haddock with sides: hash brown casserole and okra. He was fortunate enough to get his brother’s turnip greens. Yummy he says. I can’t really whine about the food, as stated, it’s pretty much the same anywhere I’ve been. I had a HUGE burger with an even larger bun. I took both buns off and ate the lettuce and tomato as a salad — and my burger with the fork. I wouldn’t recommend the cheese that comes with the burger, it looked old, nasty and tasted weird.(Can’t describe it). I took the cheese off. Food was typical Cracker Barrel. Service HOWEVER, was lacking. Management, if you care, please take note. Yes, we were a party of nine. We were seated in a very uncomfortable spot located in between two tables that had parties of two already seated/eating. There was no room(zero room) for the waitress(Daria) — sorry I may have the spelling wrong, there was no room for her to get by to place the food — so she ask us to pass the drinks and food. Really no biggie. BUT, if you’re going to seat a party of nine, you should take the server’s ability to place the food into consideration. ALSO, two people at our table needed utensils and ask two or three times. Food arrived; still no utensils. One of the women in our group finally spotted a man in a dress shirt and tie(thinkin’ maybe a manager) and ask him for utensils. Finally utensils arrived. Seriously doubt I’ll ever return to this Cracker Barrel.

Oh how this place brings back the memories. The sounds, the smells of the candles, the tasty food, it all has been the same since my first experience as a child. I love that they’re all set up the same and they stay true to the old style of yester-year with keeping televisions out of the dining areas. Conversations can be held over the frustrating peg game where you only have to leave one behind or you can challenge others to a game of checkers across from the fireplace. They keep random seasonal things in the shop but one thing I didn’t expect to see in there was the«Zombie Brains» funnel cake mix right as you exit the dining area. Totally threw me off guard. As a child I’d raid the rock candy like it was some precious gold that could not be found anywhere else on the planet Earth. I searched for some here but I could not find any. I found the boxes of rock candy but none that are attached to sticks… maybe they didn’t feel like they should have them on sticks anymore due to the possibility of stabbing yourself. Our waitress was tied to us like her job depended on her service to our table. Our order came out fast and I stuffed myself with the Country Boy Breakfast. Everything came out as expected and portioned very well. On the way out, my girlfriend and I relaxed in the rocking chairs out front. Then after the food-baby settled, I challenged her to a game of checkers. I lost as always… I’ll win one of these days! Thank you for never changing!

Love this place 100x more than IHOP. Food is a whole lot better quality and the selection is endless. Fried okra is my addiction and I think this is the only place that serves it that I know of. Country fried steak is my go to platter here partnered with various side items that I change up frequently. Cracker Barrel is one of my go to spots for breakfast.

Cracker Barrel just like anywhere, including the same stuff in the store. I had my usual — Uncle Hershel’s Breakfast with poached eggs and a pork chop. I find the bacon and ham to be way too salty and this is a good alternative. Not very busy on a weekday morning, I didn’t have to wait long for my breakfast to be brought to my table. Service was good. He kept my coffee cup refilled and was friendly. Everything a CB is expected to be.

Just went here for breakfast a few days ago. Hands down, Cracker Barrel offers the best breakfasts *consistently* in the Virginia Beach area. Their food has flavor… which is not the case in most of the places I’ve dined for breakfast in South Hampton Roads. I’m not a big fan of chains, but Cracker Barrel always surprises me with most of their offerings. They are consistent, fast and the food tastes very good. Not to mention, they are some of the hardest working restaurant staff I have ever seen since moving here 8 yrs ago. Kudos to the owner and staff at this location! You all are doing a fantastic job.

I haven’t reviewed this restaurant before? I think I probably have — how it is telling me I need to is beyond me… Anyway — this is my local Cracker Barrel — the one located at Lynnhaven Mall. I was so excited when they built this here a few years ago because it was the only one in Virginia Beach and I no longer would have to drive all the way to Chesapeake for some breakfast goodness on weekend. This store has plenty of parking, plenty of seating if there is a wait(but I’ve never had to wait outside), and has plenty of seating. I love how you can shop while you wait for your table or after for some goodies up front — I’ve always loved it. Their food is really good and service is usually pretty good. In fact, I can’t think of a time I’ve had bad service here and I’ve been here A LOT. I love breakfast, naturally, and my faves are the blueberry pancakes with their warm blueberry syrup — it will literally change your life. I also love their biscuits and gravy, fried apples, and country boy fried chicken breakfast. Mmmmmm!!! This past trip I went healthy and got their granola fit breakfast that had yogurt with fresh blackberries and granola in a chilled mini mason jar(nice touch with the chill), turkey sausage, and scrambled egg beaters. It was really good. I also think their coffee is good. For dinner/lunch I LOVE their salads. They are really yummy. I’ve had 2⁄3 different ones and I really do think they’re really good. They’re a great size and very filling. Their french fries are good and their hamburgers are also to die for — YUM. Dessert is yummy and their sweet tea passes my extreme southern gal sweet tea test. It’s nice to sit by the big fireplace on a slow evening when it’s rainy or cold out. This is a really nice hometown place — although this is a chain — you get that southern down home feeling here.

I have gone to this particular location multiple times now. We have never waited more than 10 minutes; I love how efficient they are. I have had breakfast/brunch and lunch. I really like their awesome menu selection. The service is always excellent, friendly, efficient, and always keep on top of things even as little as water and coffee. The food is delicious! I will definitely be coming back.

I’ve only been here a couple times. Those couple times were at this particular location. I don’t have anything bad to say really about it. The food was both times, great! Extremely busy each time I went but they have a gift shop that you can walk around while waiting for your table. I enjoy looking at all the things– from candy-candles-décor– and clothes. The other day my boyfriend went to eat there with his sister and mother. He was such a sweetie and brought by some soup for me cause I work literally down the street from there. It was Vegetable soup and Oh my good gracious it was absolutely DELICIOUS! I’m sitting here writing this review and thinking that I may have to stop by and get a bowl for dinner. Mm…

I don’t remember the last time I had Cracker Barrel for breakfast. I think it was a cold Sunday morning back in 2003. I digress… I had biscuits and gravy with bacon and hash brown casserole. Considering it’s been YEARS, I had no idea what to expect. Well, the biscuits and gravy were pretty good, the bacon was cooked great — crispy not burnt, hash brown casserole was meh. I like crispy potatoes, the casserole was not. The great part was that they were not crowded this morning. We didn’t have to wait for a party of 3. Even better, during our breakfast a woman with a cat tail and cat ears came in with her family to have breakfast. Very interesting indeed. Anyway, maybe I shall try again another day for lunch or dinner.

I am so disappointed in this establishment! We came in on a Sunday around 4pm. It wasn’t busy. It was steady but not overwhelming steady. I ordered the fried catfish, turnip greens & Pinto beans with cornbread & a sweet tea. Catfish was crispy on the outside but mushy on the inside. This happens when the grease is too hot. It was almost repulsive to eat. The turnip greens were cool not warm and so soggy! The only thing that was good was the pinto beans & cornbread. Our waitress walked away after dropping our food off and didn’t return for about 20 – 25 mins we were waiting on her to return to ask if we wanted desert. I had been eyeballing the pecan Apple pie with icecream. Instead she returned with our checks I had to stop her and make her come back. She brought the pie but no icecream like the menu said it had. They also were stingy with the sides, usually we can’t even finish a plate and tonight my fiancé was eating off mine when his was gone. This is nothing like it used to be. They need to tighten up. We will never return to the Cracker Barrel on lynnhaven, even if the owner paid us. Oh and the sweet tea was watered down. That’s a southerns champagne! Terrible. Just absolutely terrible.

I have been to this Cracker Barrel about dozen times in the past couple years –I’m from the south, so of course I love Cracker Barrel. Any place that serves Fried Okra is high on my list! We have always had very friendly waiters and waitresses at this location. The amount of food you get for the price is excellent. Also, the breakfast menu is available all day, so if you want a Chicken Fried Steak Meal at 11am, or if you want Biscuits and Gravy at 8pm, you can get it. :-) Overall Thoughts: Great southern food, Great Service, Clean Store, Low prices. I come here often. Only reason I have not«checked in» via Unilocal at this location often is because up until a week ago, I owned a Blackberry phone. And yep, whole other story there. But again, Cracker Barrel is a Great place to eat. Even if it is busy on Sunday, just sit outside in the rocking chairs and relax for a few minutes. I have always left full + have enjoyed all my visits to Cracker Barrel.
