A. Dodson’s was born in Suffolk, VA back in 2003 through the vision of owner, Alison Dodson Anderson. Her goal was to create a transformative experience for each customer where every sense was touched during the shopping experience. As a result, A. Dodson’s has become known as the «happy place» for many of our customers. Whether you want to spend $ 5 or $ 100, you can find «just the thing» when you stop by A. Dodson’s!

Last year, A. Dodson’s opened a sister store in the Ghent area of Norfolk, VA.

Alison Dodson Anderson has retail running through her veins. The granddaughter of a General Store owner and the daughter of an Antiques Shop owner, Alison grew up in the retail business. As a young child she remembers watching sundries slide down the stainless steel counter of her grandfather’s store. She remembers walking the AmericasMart Market with her mother while watching her create relationships with vendors to bring home that special one-​of-​a-​kind item.

Alison studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology before later joining forces with Donna Karan, Givenchy, Lela Rose and Anthropologie.

Only a few miles from where her grandfather’s store once stood and even closer to where her mother’s antiques store once stood, Alison opened A. Dodson’s — an oasis of home décor, apparel and gifts.
