I had the worst experience at Miracle Clean Auto Detailing on Shelby St. in Vincennes. I have a sixteen year old son who just got his first car, which was also his dad’s old car, right before Christmas. As a gift, his grandparents bought him a hundred dollar gift certificate for an interior clean. We waited to use it until this week because we wanted the snow season to pass first. We made the appt. two weeks early and got in on April 2nd. With so much time in between I managed to lose my paper that I had written the date on, so the morning that I believed the appt. to be I called to confirm. I said his name and the make of the car and the man who answered agreed that this was our day. My dad agreed to meet my son at Miracle Clean for the drop off. He also wanted to tell them that if the total ran over the gift certificate amount that he wanted to pay. He gave his information before he left the keys and was told the car would be ready for pick up by 6pm. We heard nothing all day, I would know because I am a stay-at-home mom. I got a phone call at 3:30 and the man speaking said he needed someone to pick up this Toyota Corolla. I commented on the fact that it was finished early. He replied that that was the funny thing, it hadn’t actually been touched yet. Puzzled, I asked why it needed picked up then. His explanation was this: well when you called this morning I just heard the word Toyota and that was the car we had on the books. So I told you to bring it in without checking the name. I still hadn’t checked it when the boy and his grandpa dropped it off. «I mean what are the chances of two Toyotas showing up on the same day?» Obviously, pretty good was my response. In summary, my husband and I went to get the car and the employee made us feel as if we were wrong to have mixed up the days, even though we checked twice to confirm and both times we were told we were correct. After ten minutes of being made to feel as if we had inconvenienced them, my husband asked for cash back from the certificate. Hesitantly, he complied. Although he threw in a jab about how we would never ask Wal-Mart to cash a gift certificate. My husband said at Wal-Mart we always leave with what we paid for.
