Great food and huge portions! However they are a little pricey for what you get and the cutomer service here could really use an over haul!

My favorite restaurant in the world. The staff is fantastic and so is the food. Love this place and the cream of chicken and rice soup is phenomenal.

The parking lot is always busy, so I decided to give it a try. The host seated me right away, and my waitress was prompt at coming to the table. She was friendly and efficient. I ordered an omelet that was on the menu but made two changes. When the waitress brought it to the table, I noticed that it was not right and sent it back. It came back a second time but still was not right. The third time was finally right. I thought the omelet was a little skimpy on the ingredients. Maybe they were upset at having to make it three times. The egg portion of the omelet was nice and fluffy. The hash browns were nicely cooked. The décor of the place is sunny and inviting. The prices are pretty standard for the area. Would I go back? on the fence.

Please note — this review is for breakfast. I found myself in need of breakfast of a Wednesday morning whilst staying at the Motel 6 next door. Simon’s is conveniently located and has a wide range of hours 0600-midnight, so I thought to myself, «Eh, why not?» I see this place only has 3 stars, but it’s hard to screw up breakfast. All I can say is — why does this place only have 3 stars? I was seated quickly by a friendly host, and when I asked for outside seating(did you know they have outside seating?) I was quickly accommodated. I was immediately offered a carafe of iced water with lemon, and my server arrived very quickly. Note they were quite busy when I arrived. I ordered a cup of coffee and a glass of orange juice to drink. They arrived quickly. The orange juice is advertised as «freshly squeezed, nothing added». I can say this was one of the best glasses of orange juice I’ve had at a restaurant and was, indeed, freshly squeezed. I ordered the two egg breakfast — over medium, of course — with bacon and Greek toast. I’ve never had Greek toast before. My eggs were cooked perfectly(many times when I order eggs somewhere when my plate arrives one or more of the yolks has broken; not so here), I received three large slices of bacon that were not too chewy and not too crispy, hash browns, and two thick slices of toast with some sort of grains baked into the bread. I was also given real whipped butter and a 3-berry preserve. I don’t know what kind of berries were in it, but it was delicious. All told I paid just over $ 15 for this extremely satisfying breakfast. A little high, but then I DID get freshly squeezed orange juice. As an added bonus this place is locally owned — not a chain. Eat here and support a local business. I will definitely stop in here again if I’m back in the area.

This place has the most unfriendly management. They are here to make money. They are not here to help customers at all. They are here to rush you in and out and take your money regardless of whether or not your food was fit to eat. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone

My first time at Simon’s Restaurant. I was impressed by the meal I order chicken kebab wrap. I will visit again.

We stopped for a late night dinner while on vacation. The owners and wait staff were extremely friendly – s/o to Nicole! We could smell good food as soon as we walked in. We had fish tacos with cilantro lime rice and a classic breakfast with the best chicken sausage patties. The kiddies were pleased with their grilled cheese kids meals. Although they really should offer a drink w/kids meals instead of having patrons purchase separately. Cream of chicken soup could use some work… like more chicken.

Considering the slummy motel next door, and an area resembling the ‘hood’, I wasn’t expecting much from a restaurant in Villa Park. And glad to have not set my sights too high… what a bad meal! They actually tout their Roast Tom Turkey. Beware! I’ve been around long enough to see, taste and freak out when turkey loaf was plopped down in front of me, with fake potatoes, a dreary white sauce that… perhaps in Villa Park… passes for gravy. The starter course was a soup… a nasty wall paper paste concoction they call Cream of Chicken. The veggies on ALL our plates were these very sad cooked-to-death medleys of tired greens. All in all, buyer beware. It would be one thing if it was your usual Greek joint attitude, but this place wants to project a semi decent look and a feel of decent dining. I’d rather eat at a greasy spoon as long as I got food that was even passed as edible! To recap… terrible food at Simons.

My husband & I found Simon’s quite randomly. Sorry Unilocal,we were just looking for a family restaurant we could frequent on Friday nights because the ones in and around Glen Ellyn aren’t open for dinner. We loved the broiled fish and the turkey with mashed potatoes(lots of butter & cream, yum) and gravy that was actually good. Soups and salads have never disappointed either. We’ve been back a few times and have been very pleased. The service is excellent even when they are packed.

Food is ok — nothing special, they need to lower the prices. They always get business because of the location — but the owner really needs to provide respect to his customers. Favorite item here is cream of chicken soup. They serve a fresh load of bread. NOTWHENYOUORDERCARRYOUT. Owner tried to charge me extra — I’ve came here so many times! — Fried calamari is ok. –They changed their chicken tenders breaking, so I don’t like it anymore. I like crispy — it’s more of a fish breading now. –The dude ranch wrap was one of my favorites. Comes with fries. Sometimes the wrap got soggy, so I stopped ordering it. Figured I can make one at home. Service is a hit or miss. Some of their servers need to seriously lighten up a bit. I like the free ice cream when I leave, but it’s a little complimentary scoop. The least they can offer — thanks. Pie slices are expensive. Go to high view for like $ 2 a slice! Needless to say, I stopped going here. Better options. Cheaper prices.

We love Simon’s! It is our go to breakfast spot and they have a nice lunch/dinner selection too! There is definitely something for everyone. They have THEBEST chicken noodle soup! The chicken tortilla is phenomenal too! Anytime I need comfort food, we go to Simon’s. We consider ourselves lucky to have such a great family owned diner in the area! Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed! PS they have free wifi too!

With more than a decade worth of eating here, I can say this place is a childhood favorite. The only thing is when they kind of renovated and changed a lot of things in the store, a lot of the quality in the food and service went down. It really doesn’t feel like a little family owned restaurant anymore and the food is usually bland or not cooked correctly. I once got a grilled cheese where the cheese wasn’t even melted but two slices of cheese on toasted bread. Not very good. Plus everything is way more expensive than it used to be or needs to be. It’s really disheartening to say the least. The plus is that my all time favorite soup growing up is still my all time favorite soup now. The cream of chicken rice soup here is to die for and I could eat it all day everyday. Sad about what the place has become, but I still come in for my soup.

Late night takeout food and fast BUT it was very mediocre and kind of expensive. :/I just wanted some fries and gravy to go with some fresh cheese curds I had just bought at the Elegant Farmer. That worked out and tasted good, but my boyfriend’s French toast was rubbery and blah. They didn’t put utensils in the bag, but they put a bunch of other random condiments in there. I ordered a couple other things because I was tired and didn’t know how hungry I was, but they were awful, so I tossed them. The potato pancakes weren’t how I expected. They were actually pancakes made out of potato bread, not the hash brown patty-like delights that I’m used to. Yuck. They were tasteless and soggy. And the chorizo scramble doesn’t use fresh Mexican chorizo but something in a can that is cooked within a fried egg with avocado(which was the only part that was good). Gross! Maybe I just ordered the wrong things, but I just get the feeling this place is mediocre across the board. :/ Freshly squeezed orange juice. That’s pretty much why the 2 stars…

Horrible service. I waited 40 minutes for my food(a buffalo chicken wrap) & it wasn’t until I flagged down my waitress did she tell me they messed up my order so it would be «just a little more time» the manager said there was nothing they could do & that«it happens». 40 minutes & no food? Unacceptable for a little family restaurant when there are plenty of more places just like that down the street. Would not go back after being treated so rudely by the owner.

I’ve only been to Simon’s for the cake and they do not disappoint. The Swiss chocolate cake is easily my favorite and a perfect midnight snack. The key lime pie is the only dessert item I would avoid, it’s really dense and not very tart. Based solely on dessert Simon’s is worth your time

Love this place. Been here quite a few times for breakfast and lunch, including this morning. I can’t recall a time I’ve been here and been disappointed with either my food or service. I Love the breakfast more than the lunch. And they’re pretty efficient. I’ve been here some times when they were packed and they still managed to get my food out to me relatively quickly.

Stopped in for breakfast through the week. We were greeted by a cheery young lady at the front and promptly brought to a booth. I was pleased with how clean the place looked. Our waitress came over promptly to get our order. I ordered a skillet, and they definitely did this right. The ratio of potato to other ingredients was perfect. Many restaurants use way too many potatoes… probably because they’re cheaper. I also like the fact that it wasn’t overly greasy. Some restaurants literally have a ring of grease around the edge of the skillet, which always disgusts me. The eggs on top were cooked perfectly over-easy…no runny white, just runny yolk. The coffee was pretty good as well. This is a no-frills, price-is-right type of place. Good for every day dining.
