We received a refund right after the review. So it took 3+ weeks, but we did get our money back for the cancelled tubing run due to weather.

We recently visited Hawksnest for a morning of snow tubing. We were dressed like Eskimos all bundled up in the car. When we reached the turn for Hawksnest a police officer stopped us and made sure we had 4 wheel drive. It is a very steep incline to reach the top and parking lot. Speaking of which the parking lot was a sheet of ice and we basically ice skated in our shoes to the ticket area. We bought tickets for the 10am tubing for $ 32.00 each, as it was a Holiday. You walk in through the small«lodge», where there is a café and bathrooms to your right and the photo viewing area and walkway to tubing to your left. We went outside, grabbed our tubes and headed for the first lanes. The first lanes we got to were what I would call«The Bunny Slopes» of snow tubing. Fun, gentle, nothing to be scared of. Good time for all. The second lanes we went to were fun but very dangerous. You basically held on for your life, tried not to break your ankle slamming into a wall or lose your shoe from having to slow yourself down. Luckily I did not get hurt, but I did see several people who did. One girl in our group hit her tailbone on the hard ice coming down a slide and could barely move her body for days. While it was funny at first the repercussions were not. A couple reasons why it is dangerous: 1. The snow was chunky, not smooth. 2. You run into snow walls with your legs sticking out in front of you. 3. You have to stop yourself. The people mover or «magic carpet» as they call it is so slow, we timed it and it took us 25 minutes to get moved to the top of the hill for what was probably a 5 minute walk. I can’t say whether I’d snow tube here again but for a fun short day trip it’s worth it at least once. We also saw people participating in Zip Lining. Looked like alot of fun even on a super cold day.

We went tubing over the weekend while in NC, and I thought it was a blast! Every staff member we encountered were friendly. The upstairs bar/lounge area is nice and relaxing, but I was very dissapointed that a full bar did not have Jäger.hmmph. But, surely you go there to tube, not to drink. I’m not sure why they call it a ski resort, as they closed the skiing portion down… there’s only tubing. But it’s fun, the tubes are well taken care of and any souveneir pictures you may want are reasonably priced!

Went with the family on Sunday. Most of the staff very helpful and friendly, we had a great time tubing, only negative was the wait at the downstairs coffee shop, they could use more equipment to get customers there order a little faster, I waited for over 15min for 2 hot chocolates, but other than that we had a blast
