My wife and I are patients of Dr. Hong and we highly recommend him and his team. From the moment you go in to the moment you leave, the service and care you receive is top notch. The office to small and cozy. On the walls are personal drawings of Dr. Hong, which add a homey feeling to the office. The receptionist is also very friendly and apt at meeting the needs of the patients.
Dr. Hong is very good at what he does. He has excellent bedside manners. I always feel that he cares about me and how I am doing throughout my whole visit. I recently went in to have my cavities checked out and get fillings. He did a great job. The numbing shots were pretty much painless and so was the rest of the process.
Another thing that stood out was that he had a basket full of toys for the younger children. This is huge especially if you are doing a procedure that might take a while. It gives the kids something to do and makes the whole experience a little more pleasant for all parties involved.

Not only is his practice state of the art, friendly with a warming feel to it, he is just the best.
For starters, Dr Hong’s bedside manner is amazing. He made sure I knew exactly what to expect and anytime he sensed just a tiny bit of anxiety, he would reassure me and make sure I was okay before proceeding. He takes meticulous care and is incredibly knowledgeable.
He has called a few times to check up after a major root canal treatment, after I had a crown set and after I went home in pain for another treatment — just to check in whether I was okay.
The xrays are done so efficiently and quickly and all the support staff are friendly and very helpful.
Every time I go here I feel like a VIP. Who would’ve thought visiting the dentist could be such an enjoyable experience?!

I went to see Dr. Hong for an urgent toothache, but after one visit he’s become my regular dentist. He has an amazing bedside manner and really takes his time with his patients. His staff is super friendly; they each take time to properly introduce themselves before shoving any dental instruments in your mouth. The office runs on time, gives you an accurate price quote before any proceedure, and is conveniently located just off Gallows.
When I first saw Dr. Hong he informed me that my tooth ache was a result of a gum infection, caused by a partially impacted wisdom tooth. He recommended I see an oral surgeon, which I was hesitant to do since this was the first problem I’d ever had with my wisdom teeth. I had seen other dentists before that tried to sign me up for an extraction before even looking at my teeth, so I was already wary of dentists that are just trying to make an extra buck for their office. I explained my concerns to Dr. Hong, who took me seriously and listened patiently. He then explained in detail all of the reasons behind his recommendation (where other docs have often brushed me off w/​an «everyone needs them removed, they’re useless» sort of response).
I came back to Dr. Hong a few months later for my regular cleaning and to get a couple cavities filled. He was just as polite, timely, and courteous as before. He even took pictures of the cavities before and during the proceedure, and went over them with me after it was done. He told me what sympotoms I could expect later that day (slight temperature sensitivty) and explained what I should look out for (my cavity was close to the root; so things like ongoing pain could indicate I would need to come back for a root canal).
I left the office numb, with the expectation of a bit of pain once the meds wore off. Not only did the pain never come, but I even recieved a call from Dr. Hong’s office the next day to ask how I was feeling! That little extra step really sealed the deal. Dr. Hong is the BEST.
One other thing, in case you’re wondering if Dr. Hong paid for this review or wrote it himself– I paid a little extra for my fillings because apparently his office doesn’t do silver fillings, only composite (white) ones, and my dental insurance didn’t cover those. I didn’t mind at all, since it was only about $ 120 for two. I prefer white fillings over silver anyway, and my experiences with such a great office was more than worth it!

Dr Hong is a fantastic dentist. He takes his time, explains everything, and he’s very compassionate. He makes sure that the patient is comfortable and asks several times during the procedure if you are doing ok. He is always patient and understanding and answers all your questions. He’s so good I sent my husband to him and refer many of my own patients to him for care.

Dr. Hong is a great dentist. He is very gentle and knowledgeable, and explained my issues to the point. He has great techniques, and is very patient. He is very kind and immediately began talking with me about my teeth once I walked in the door. His assistant is also very nice. Dr. Hong’s equipment is all state of the art, and his furniture is very comfortable. Always open to discuss something in depth, he cares about his patients’ overall well being and went out of his way to provide us information that addresses other health issues. We’ve been visiting him for a while now, and we really like him. If you want a great family dentist, then I highly recommend Dr. Hong.

Dr. Richard Hong is a caring and knowledgeable dentist. He has been my dentist for four years now. In addition to his gentle manner during routine cleanings, I have seen him for some dental issues and he has been able to diagnose and refer me to a specialist when necessary. I used to dread going to the dentist, but he has made my procedures pain-​free. His office is clean and welcoming. His staff is friendly and easy to work with. I highly recommend Dr. Hong!

Dr. Hong is a great dentist. He really takes the time to explain to you what’s going on with your dental health. I agree with the review above, Sam M., that his office is really clean and does seem to have the latest technology. My wife and I have both been to Dr. Hong several times since moving to NoVa. He’s the best dentist we’ve ever been to. He takes the time to explain exactly what he is doing and why. His office is immaculate and seems to have the latest technology. He’s also a friendly guy and makes going to the dentist as painless as possible. Highly recommended!
