Marsha DePalo – Nationwide Insurance

Nationwide Insurance, Vienna, VA — unethical, incompetent, and extremely rude. Trifecta!
Received arbitrary new policy dec in the mail adding an unknown uninsured driver to my policy, along with increased rates. Suffice to say — still trying to resolve dispute, over 50 emails and phone calls later. Initial problem is Nationwide’s overall policy in doing this kind of bottomfeeding behavior. But the most frustrating and maddening part of this has been dealing with the non-​customer-​service-​oriented, patronizing, rude people at the Vienna office, particularly Jeremy. However, the buck stops with M. dePalo apparently, who exhibited little interest in addressing the problem either. Jeremy routinely condescended to me, made excuses, blamed other parties (state of virginia, nationwide corporate, etc), and made me feel like it was MY problem and he had very little interest in helping solve the problem. Soooo patronizing, it was infuriating. We would discuss the problem on the phone, he would say he would get back to me, then nothing, then when I emailed, he would say things like ‘you must be thinking about something else, we never talked about that.’ I kept asking to speak to a supervisor out of frustration, and he repeatedly obfuscated and tried to block that from happening, sometimes by lying.
Some of the worst customer service I have EVER experienced. And this is not the first issue with them where I’ve had the same experience. My advice is not to use Nationwide but, if you do, please do not use this agent/​office unless you are a masochist.
