Mama’s Donut Bites

Believe the hype. Seek out the truck. These donuts are really amazing. Buy only as many as you will eat right away; they’re good for a few hours longer, but nothing compares to how they taste fresh.

These donuts are to die for! They’re freshly made when you buy them and their flavor are mouth watering! I always get these when I’m at work but it’s kind of tough finding the truck sometimes. Their dough is different from the rest and I love how they’re snack size! Makes me feel less guilty after eating a few! My favorite ones are the apple cider ones but have yet to try other flavors!

Discovered them today after a coworker insisted that I try a donut. It was the Pumpkin Spice flavor. I immediately went to find the truck myself and purchased 26 to take home! For $ 10 and the quality of the donuts, that was cheap! They were friendly and the service was great. I even ate one more fresh off the toaster while waitong for my card to process! Mmmm! Definitely track them down and give them a try! I can’t wait to taste the Apple Cider donuts!

My boyfriend had heard about Mama’s food truck so we woke up on Sunday morning and went to the Westover Farmers Market in search of said donuts. We were quite a few people deep when we arrived around 10am but the line moves quickly. They only serve one flavor a day which helps speed the process along and you can buy bags of these adorable little donut holes for just a few bucks.
Sunday happened to be Pumpkin Spice day (need I say more?). Heaven in my mouth. I only wish I could have waited to walk across the street and enjoy them with a cup of coffee but I just couldn’t help but stuff my face!
I’m going to try not to make a habit of eating donuts but when Mama’s around, I will be paying her a visit ;)

If you want warm, delicious, mouth watering, scrumptious donuts, this is the place where you will get all of those in one bite. Every time I have this, it’s warm, just the right amount of sugar, and explosion in your mouth full of sugary goodness. Yes, it seems expensive for donuts, but they are so worth it. Don’t wait until you get back to your office to eat one because you have to eat one right there and then to taste the freshness of the donut. Also, you probably don’t need any of the dipping, because it’s amazing by itself.

These little SOBs are the makings of the devil himself. My God are they delicious. Every time you think you’re going to save your waistline and stop, they just keep calling you and calling you. I personally can never get an understanding of exactly when the truck is going to be where. It’s as if Mama’s Donuts is enjoying taunting me. Just when I’ve decided to be healthy and get some oatmeal for breakfast, boom, there they are… waiting. «No Ron, there will be no oatmeal.» «You will get yourself a grease stained bag of sin and eat them on the way to work». «Then you will go to the bathroom stall and cry .cry because you know you are weak and Mama’s donuts will back».

If you’re trying to keep a waist line, don’t even bother stopping at this truck. On the other hand, if you like me and realize it’s mid summer, you’ve had a gazillion cocktails and don’t care what the waist line looks like at this point, RUN don’t walk to this truck. The donuts are amazing, and that’s not an understatement! They’re light. They’re fluffy. They’ll go down before you can finish savoring the flavor. Annnndddd they’re contagious.
Tips for your visit:
*The single bag of fresh, hot, cinnamon sugar donuts can be eaten truck side, seriously they won’t make it back to the office.
*If you want to share, get the big bag. Yes it’s $ 20 or so, but trust me you won’t want to share the single bag.
*Announce to the office you’re going to the momna donut truck and take up a collection. You’ll get enough for at least 2 big bags because everyone wants some.

Ugh these are so, so good. Soft, pillowy, not-​overly-​sweet dough deliciousness. I used to stop by to grab a bag of these all the time whenever they were by my office, but have had the restraint to stay away for the past few months for my waistline’s sake. The apple cider and the red velvet are delicious. You can also pick dipping sauces (caramel, chocolate, cream cheese) to go with them! The best thing is these mini donuts actually feel quite light and not at all greasy… so if you can’t resist them, you at least won’t feel too disgusting after pounding a full bag of these lil guys!

I should have written this review ages ago. These mini donuts are like heaven in a bag. My favorite is by far the apple cider cinnamon which always goes perfectly with a nice cup of coffee. I used to work in Rosslyn and rarely was I ever able to pass up a bag whenever I got my morning Starbucks. Once I changed jobs I walked a mile out to their truck so that I could share this amazingness with my new coworkers. Needless to say they were all happy and mad at me for introducing them to these little bites of goodness. The owners are super nice and awesome :)

The lines at l’Enfant were particularly long today with t-​shirt uniform-​wearing groups of tourists, but thankfully no wait at all at Mama’s Donut Bites. I’m guessing people wanted real food and not snack food at lunch… so lucky for me.
I got a half dozen Apple Cider Donuts, which came in paper bag for $ 3. Not seeing carryout containers for the sauces and sprinkles left on the counter I squirted tubes of chocolate and caramel sauce right into the paper bag to coat the mini doughnuts. The sauces available include (1) chocolate, (2) berry jam (3) caramel and (4) white chocolate.
I couldn’t really wait until my office to start noshing. Once I started of course, there was no stopping. These donuts melt in the mouth, are slightly warm, don’t feel greasy, and are quite a show stopper! The toppings sweetly accent with a drizzle of sauce, without a gloppy, overly rich taste.
I hope for my waistline sake, I don’t get the opportunity to run into them again. They were so polite and nice too!

In Seattle, I can count the amount of decent mini-​donut joints on one hand. In fact, the best mini-​donuts used to be made by a food truck, before they were sold to people who did not know how to make them properly. I did a bit of a dance when I saw Mama’s. It was early in the day before the lunch rush. I saw only one person in line and ran up to grab desert before my lunch.
The hardest decision was which flavor to get. I ended up getting red velvet with cream cheese dip. Ummmmm… yes, it’s as good as it sounds. I began stuffing mini donuts into my mouth after dipping them in the decadent cream cheese. I had to stop myself to take a break for actual food.
Later, I came back to them. Although they were cold, they were still fantastic! I thought they would be greasy since the bag showed tell-​tale signs. They held up surprisingly well and were not greasy at all. I wish I had these lovelies nearby!

I had donuts from this truck a single time a few months ago and have been hoping to run into it again. The aroma alone is a siren song that you must answer. Don’t worry, you will know if it is parked nearby by the smell and the line.
When I went, I had the red velvet donuts and they were amazing. Small freshly fried rings that looked like finger inner tubes and a small container with cream cheese frosting. You will want that for dipping. Moist, aromatic, and slightly sweet, is the name of the game. the dipping frosting on the side is how you amp up the flavor. They are so good in that subtle way, that I only dipped half.
Screw the diet, stalk this truck, you will not be sorry.

Really yummy donuts! Loved them! Tried the red velvet and it was perfect! a bit pricy for the mini portion but worth it :) i preferred to have them warm but i stopped by around noon and they had some from the morning.

If you like hot, fresh cake donuts — this truck is for you!
I’ve had this truck three times already while they were parked at L’Enfant and tried the apple cider and red velvet flavors. Their mini donuts are bite size and they also offer a [free!] selection of different dipping sauces you can add onto your donuts, such as frosted sugar, cheesecake frosting, raspberry, etc. Although I wish they had more flavors (they only have one flavor available day), I haven’t been disappointed with the quality of the flavors I’ve tried so far.

A couple coworkers and I have developed a terrible habit of getting cookies every Friday from Captain Cookie. Today we cheated on him with Mama’s Donut Bites and we don’t regret it at all!
There’s only one flavor a day and today’s was apple cider. The donuts are the softest little pillows and are delivered fresh, warm, and well sugared. They smelled like appley churros. The smallest order you can get is 6 donuts for $ 3 (I wish there was an option to buy 3; I ended up sharing an order with someone so I wouldn’t go into a full on food coma at work after lunch).
I’ll definitely be stalking Mama’s Donut Bites on Twitter from now on and can’t wait to try other flavors!

Do you know Hostess’ crumble donuts? Forget about them! Because no other cake donuts matter besides theses.
Let me start by saying, I tried to avoid them. The pink truck stood out like a sore thumb as I entered into the farmers market. I swayed, looked up (bright eyed and bushy tailed) and immediately saw the long line of folks who support MDB (I waned, and walked away for a second to see fresh veggies). As I was walking around, I began to notice donut bags. My eyes wandered just a tad bit too long and apparently controlled my feet, because I found myself standing in line waiting for those fresh donuts I wanted so badly.
There was an assistant. She greeted us and asked us how many we wanted (unbeknownst to her, my friend and I are watching are girlish figures that are more accurately defined as womanish). We told her 6 (three for my friend and three for me) which sounded reasonable at the time. We asked if they accepted credit/​debit cards and the owner responded to us (yes). We began a short convo which led us to receive a free personalized donut with raspberry jam (really something special, not too sweet and not too thick) and white chocolate icing (aka awesome sauce). I took a look at the sign again to see what type of donuts they were: Apple Cider cake donuts. They were the lightest cake donuts I’ve ever had in my life and were incredibly delicious.
We walked away from the stand after our special treatment (I’d like to think this treatment was special for us because we’re fantastic, but my delusions of grandeur are probably just that, because they were both really friendly with all the customers) and browsed other booths and trucks. At about the third stop my friend and I discussed how awesome the donuts were and how disappointed we were at ourselves for not being disciplined. I tried to reach my hand back into the bag and she gave me the stink eye, that «girl get your own bag!» look. At that exact moment did I realize that MDB weren’t for sharing and that the only way to rectify our misguided behavior was to each purchase our own bags of donuts.
Walked back and we each purchased 12 donuts, this time with the added jam and icings to our likings (12+3 donuts = a failed day of trying to be healthy… but I count it all in joy and chalk up that L for a day to be shaken off at the gym). The owner told us that «it’s a known fact that there are no calories in donuts on Sunday.» We took his word for it.

I can easily see why mama gave up the real estate business to run a food truck! The clientele (like me) is loyal and most appreciative — and for good reason too!
All the donuts are one flavor — they are small enough not to feel guilty over, and are not smothered with massive cavity-​forming frosting. $ 3 will get you half a dozen delightful bites served in a brown paper bag. Better buy two, coz I could eat a bag in one sitting!

Truthfully, I never had a donut from a food truck until Mama’s Donuts came to my job’s event. Holy smokes, her donuts are delicious and you can add toppings like raspberry jam, chocolate syrup, etc.
As for servings, you only get 6 bite size donuts smothered with sugar and spice or powder sugar. My collegues and I got the famous apple cider. Yummmmy! The prices seems to vary but from what I was told 6 for $ 3 to $ 5…depends on the flavor of the day.
The customer service was good but the lady had no life in her. Would be nice to see a smile. Overall, easy to work with and seems like a great business to work with if you’re planning any events.
Can’t wait to try other flavors!

This was a random find and soooo glad I did! I happened to see the pink truck from afar while lunching at Farragut square park and decided to pull up the reviews. Everyone seemed to be raving about the apple cider donuts on the reviews so I decided to walk up to the truck and see what the flavor of the day was (they only serve one flavor a day). Lucky me, it was apple cider! I love the fact that they have several different kinds of ‘sauces’ in the window which you can use to dunk your donut bites in. I settled with chocolate and raspberry (fave combo). Back at the office, I pulled out a donut to ‘taste’ and save the rest for later (got the 6 minis). Alas! the saving did not happen since the donut bite was sooo delish that I finished my 6 minis in one sitting and was glad that I was far away from the truck because that would have only resulted in me buying another batch!
Definitely get the donut bites if you see the pink truck! They are light and yummy with just the right hint of flavor!

Stumbled across this truck on my most recent Food Truck Friday and because I was craving something sweet I had to give it a shot.
The donuts are good, I believe they only come in one flavor per day but they do have a variety of sauces that you are allowed to pure over the donuts. The donut itself was on the dry side a bit, they might want to think about adding milk or some kind of liquid to the menu.
Donuts were warm and freshly made so that was a bonus. While these donuts are not great, the truck is still worth a visit if you enjoy donuts and want a little something sweet.
