History

Established in 2013.

Damon Framing Studio is employee-​owned and operated. Steve Rigby MBR and Taffy Millar CPF were long time employees (67 years of experience between them) of Damon Galleries Ltd., which opened in 1973. When the owner retired in 2013, Taffy and Steve decided to continue the tradition of fine framing, and found an excellent location in the charming and eclectic Church and Mill Street area of Vienna. Convenient for both existing and new clients, the Studio is an ideal new home for this well-​loved framing business.

Business Owner

Taffy lived for 14 years in Ireland (her husband is Irish singer Danny Doyle), and there she established a successful career costuming performers — singers, dancers and actors — for stage and television. When she and her husband moved from Dublin to Virginia, she decided to try a new career path; art and framing seemed like a good fit, requiring a flair for design and color, as well as crafting skills. She started work at Damon Galleries in 1986, and over the years has honed her design talent and technical knowledge. She operates the computerized mat cutter (the Wizard) and the imaging software, used to create a virtual image of completed framing, using just photos of the various components, to help clients with their choices. She enjoys keeping up with new technology, especially anything that helps with design and execution of fabulous framing.
