Would not recommend foot specialist Dr. lutta. He didn’t diagnose my problem correctly. Also he charge me $ 80 for a lace up brace which they submitted to my insurance company, but wouldn’t pay for it. Then I bought another brace exactly the same on
for $ 30. So I asked the practice to reduce the price and they had to ask Dr. lutta because he sells the braces. He refused to charge me less.
My advice is to check Amazon by scanning the bar code on the box before buying the brace since insurance will not cover many of them.

I have never had a worse experience with a doctor’s office than this before. My father was injured at work and needed immediate attention. After going to the ER we looked into OrthoVirginia because of its convenient location and since his children must translate for him.
They refused to book an appointment until the workman’s compensation adjustor authorized it, despite our repeated offers to pay out of pocket or to use our own private insurance. In fact, we were told quite disingenuously, that it was «illegal» for them to see him until the workers’ comp claim number was provided. I later called the Workers’ Compensation Commission and told that was false.
Eventually after several days of effort, while trying to find another doctor, we were able to finally see a doctor. While his assessment and treatment were adequate, what happened next was not.
Dr. Zimmer refused to see my father while he was in the office for a followup when my father said that pain had spread up the side of his leg near the injured area. Dr. Zimmer said once again, the limitations of the insurance were such that he was limited to the only the original injured area.
Now, we are looking to switch doctors, but are told our medical records will cost «an unknown» amount, since they outsource that service and can take two weeks.
Save your time and money! Find someone else. Atrocious, money-​centered folks. Don’t believe their website about being «patient-​oriented.»

In 2013 I had a spinal fusion surgery that leaked from a stitch, got infected, my legs ballooned up and had to go to the er to see if I had bloodclots (thankfully no) and now I have tremendous pain still in 2015 2 years later having gone to 3 pain clinics, had acupuncture, back numbing, a RFA, and epidural in my back and leg numerous times. I now probably need a wheel chair. I do not have the money to sue them but I would if I could. It would be ill advised for anyone to seek help from this practice.

Horrible Administrative and tech staff. Never even saw the doctor after a forty minute wait. Filled out SIX Pages of forms before I arrived twenty minutes early. They require patients to come 15 minutes early. Then, I had to fill out three more forms and even having requested what I was told was the first appointment time of the day (7:40AM,) I was made to wait a total of 40 minutes. I even had the three additional forms filled out by 7:25 AM. They were timestamped by the front desk.
Once escorted to the room, the med tech was sarcastic and short while requesting information that I told her I had already addressed on the Medical History form and which was totally irrelevant to why I was there. When, finally, I calmly but colorfully expressed my frustration over these irrelevant questions, which were already addressed in the Medical History form, she left the room and a woman, my age came in an told me they were cancelling my appointment… I had to insist on getting all of my personal and confidential data back and finally had to resort to just taking my forms off the clipboard and out of her hand. I still did not get all of my forms back.
HORRIBLE experience and if I could give them ZERO stars, I would.

Commonwealth Orthopedics, now Ortho-​Virginia was recommended to me by my brother in law. He was referred by his friends. Every experience relayed that Commonwealth Orthopedics was the place to go.
Short version, I scheduled a very short notice consult with Dr. Hughes for a herniated disc that was not responding well to non-​surgical treatments.
I was advised (and happy to hear) that Ortho-​Virginia has a «surgery last» mindset. I appreciated this fact as I was confident Dr. Hughes would not recommend surgery if there were any other treatments available.
Fast forward, I was a small percentage patient that needed surgery to avoid long term problems. Dr. Hughes scheduled a shot for me the same day along with surgery within a week (unheard of). The surgery provided instant relief. I have taken his advice seriously, work out two days post surgery, and I feel incredible. Follow up appointment with Dr. Hughes’ PA, Lauren, has me all clear for work and no physical limitations.
I recommend Ortho-​Virginia and Dr. Hughes to anyone looking for an Orthopedist. Incredibly positive experience.
*But if you ask Lauren for a popsicle post surgery, you might have to wait awhile :)

I had never had back problems… until I did. Long story short: I broke my right foot and after 4 weeks of wearing a walking boot, I developed excruciating pain in my left hip and down my left leg. The ER said I’d probably pinched my sciatic nerve from overcompensating on my left side for my broken right foot. Great.
Making an appointment was easy. I had to wait a couple of weeks, but the pain had subsided greatly. I actually thought that I might just be fine and whatever it was went away, but I didn’t want to take a chance.
I saw Dr. Hughes. Friendly with a GREAT bedside manner. My appointment was at 9. They had me in 15 minutes early. Took x-​rays in no time. Dr. Hughes came in, introduced himself and asked where I’d found him. I told him Unilocal.He said he was surprised because he wasn’t well liked on Unilocal.I informed him that wasn’t the case and that’s why I was there.
Dr. Hughes told me my x-​rays were perfect. He performed a physical exam to make sure that there wasn’t something going on that the x-​ray missed. He said that I probably just strained some muscles. If I wanted therapy, I’d be more than welcome to it, but he thought I’d be fine in just a couple of weeks. That’s exactly what I wanted to hear. He then said if things didn’t get better, I could come back any time to see this «quack». Love a doctor who’s professional, but has a sense of humor. I hope I never have to see him again, but if I do, I’m glad he’s there. I would highly recommend him and his office.

Had back pain that I kept hoping would go away. Came to see Dr. Hughes and Lauren. They quickly had me get MRI and their diagnosis of a herniated disc was confirmed. They did not rush me to surgery, taking time to see if PT and injections would relieve the pain long enough for the disc to be absorbed. First sign of nerve problems and they put me through surgery… fast and easy. Was dead lifting within 14 days. Commonwealth is not a surgery shop… only when necessary.

Dr. Hughes and his staff are all professional compared to other medical professionals. I had my spine surgery and was very pleased with the results.

5 stars for the Doctors and Staff, 1 star for the appointment making process hence the 3 stars. The staff and doctors here are all outstanding… if you can get an appointment. Plan to be on hold for 30+ minutes when you call. They use a central appointment line and it’s woefully understaffed. It would be faster to drive there and get the appointment in person. But because the doctors are top-​notch I wait. One of my kids has had two different sports injuries and they are really great.

I went to see Dr. McConnell for knee problems. I have been running for years and suddenly had knee problems. When I went to see Dr. McConnell I basically just saw a bunch of junior assistants who couldn’t answer any questions. My appointment lasted maybe a half hour and of that half hour I only saw Dr. McConnell for maybe 2 minutes. He did not give me a chance to ask questions and he was in a total rush and gave me some generic diagnosis for my knee. He then told me to buy a specific knee brace from them, so I did. He’s the doctor, right? He told me to wear it and my knee would be good to go in 10 days. It has been about 4 months. Nothing. Total waste of a copay and cost of a crappy knee brace. I have read all about the knee brace since getting it and it isn’t even meant for running! It’s meant for jumping and squats etc. The only people I could explain what was wrong to was the assistants who were maybe early 20’s and obviously everything was going in one ear and out the other. Every response to my questions was «I don’t know» or …“but I’m not sure about that”. I walked out with 0 confidence and scummy vibes about Commonwealth Orthopedics as a whole.
If you want a doctor who cares about you and will give you a personal diagnosis and treatment that will work, please DO NOT SEE DR. MCCONNELL. I cannot speak for any of the other doctors, but I can say I do not plan on returning to Commonwealth Orthopedics.

I’ve been to this office twice and the staff has been wonderful. Dr. L is working on fixing my injury and I’m very happy with him too. I had to wait a little bit but I choose not to complain because this office is so pleasant. They have a lot of patients because they care.

I love Dr. Annuziatta he really is a nice guy; but let me tell you going thru the appointments people it really is «underworld» to be decent; that is the only reason i am never coming back there. They think that they can mistreat you any way they want. They all need an urgent customer service training.

I had a wonderful experience! About six months ago, I had major pains in my upper extremity, weakness in my right arm, headaches, stiff necks, fatigue and servere nerve pain. I tried accupuncture, chiropractic and finally after meeting Dr Hughes, I found out that I had two herniated cervical discs. We talked about surgery and after two months, I finally decided to go with it and I feel fantastic now. The surgery was two weeks ago and it was a beautiful success. I can exercise, play with my son without any pain or weakness, cook, have a social life… I’m so happy to have my life back! Love the staff especially Dr Hughes’ nurse Carol. She is a very sweet person. If you’re suffering from a herniated disc, go see Dr Huges now and get your life back!

Love these guys! Saw me quickly, knew exactly what the problem was with my de quervains tendonitis, got me fitted for a brace and gave me a wonderful cortisone shot and sent me on my merry way with less pain. Will come back if i have any other joint issues! :)

What a bunch of jerks. I showed up at 2:30 for my 2:30 appointment, with my paperwork completed in advance. You know, to help keep everything on schedule. After 40 minutes, I decide to check what the eff is going on, only to find out that they’re running over an hour behind! The other person at the counter was just checking out at 3:10, and she had a 1:40 appointment that didn’t take long.
Here’s a thought: How about communicating with your customers when they arrive (yes, I said customers) if you’re running that far behind so that they can opt to not waste their time? If their desk staff are any indication of how poorly their doctors communicate, I’d recommend taking your business elsewhere.

Great center — quick service.
I didn’t wait terribly long — I actually created the wait myself since I left my insurance card at home with my wallet. As my wife was bringing it in, they went ahead and saw me for my knee pain.
An MRI and week later, we’re just watching my knee to make sure that I don’t have a torn meniscus. Gotta love sports injuries. But otherwise, Dr. McConnell is keeping me straight and walking!
