This place is A-OK in the best sense of the term. It’s as downmarket as you can go, meaning that you can have lunch and a draught beer for $ 7, and shoot a few games of pool at $ 6 an hour. The missus and I were wandering Versailles(don’t pronounce it all French-like or people will look at you funny: it’s «Vur-SAYLES,» b’gawd) seeing what there is to see in the tiny but honestly charming downtown area around(wait for it) Main Street. Knowing that traditional pubs were probably in short supply, we spotted this greasy spoon/place to watch(horse) racing on TV, and pool hall. Sold. A single cook/waiter/bartender/cashier/pool table attendant/rock star took care of the entire Woolworths-length counter with aplomb. You can get a frosty mug of domestic for $ 1.40, an entire menu of fried pub-grub for under $ 5, and a whole lot of local color on the house. Watching people get totally into the ponies on TV was perhaps the most definitive«we are hanging out in the state of Kentucky» moment of our trip. So, I’d say to give Wilson’s a go while you’re in town, but, seeing as it may, in fact, be the only bar there is, you may not have any other choice. But go anyway. It’s fun.

Not the prettiest place in the world but Wilson’s should be your first stop in Versailles. The family will fill you in on the history of the diner and the town. Great old fashioned spot for burgers or a beer.

Love the Willy Burger and the onions rings and the cold beer and the atmosphere — best burger in Versailles! Not a fancy place, but a friendly place where you can relax and enjoy the local color.

This place has the pinball machine from the movie The Accused and seems a little sketch at night BUT, if your craving greasy bad for you burgers and fries swimming in that unknown amazing cheese goo this is the place to go!
