Its proprietary Fiberglass PLUS program includes testing leaking ducts and before and after photos of the attic.

History

Established in 2004.

Owner Don Hall became acquainted with spray foam insulation in the early 2000’s. After spending a life in construction, he felt it was the first «no-​brainer product» he had ever seen. He started Healthy Home Insulation in 2004. As he became more educated in building science he expanded the scope of the services the company offered and changed the company name to Building Performance Services in 2009.

Don’s on the job experience and building science education led him to develop the Fiberglass PLUS program. Multiple national studies have concluded that duct leakage averages about 20% so it made sense not to bury that problem in insulation. Fiberglass PLUS includes ducts tested for leaks with non-​toxic theatrical smoke then repaired, and the installation of 16″-18″ of blown-​in Owens Corning fiberglass. Fiberglass PLUS combines the two most cost efficient energy upgrades you can make to your home.

Business Owner

Don has been in the construction industry since his teens and really likes fixing problems in buildings. He has the following licenses and certifications: Florida Certified Building Contractor, HERS Class 1 Energy Rater, Energy Star Partner, Building Energy Assessment Professionals, RESNET, Certified Public Buildings Rater, Certified Commercial Energy Rater, FPL Preferred Contractor and SELF contractor. Don has spent, and continues to spend, countless hours studying to maintain these certifications and affiliations. And, quite frankly, he takes his building science very seriously.

As a nationally certified energy rater, he uses building science to evaluate your home’s condition and to recommend energy updates based on real science. Based on his years of experience, he has developed Fiberglass PLUS, a proprietary insulation program for Florida attics.

Building Performance Services is family-​owned by Don and his wife Barbara. They have resided in Vero Beach since 1994.
