The Salty Critter

I’m pretty new to the salt water world and the whole staff at The Salty Critter is very helpful. They have beautiful fish and vibrant coral. They have everything you need to have a flourishing tank. They are there to answer any questions you have.

I’m not one to write a review unless I’m really compelled. I had a problem with UPS damaging an online order and these guys provided the best customer service I’ve experienced in a long time. They were accessible, prompt, and sent a replacement I received in 3 days. Thanks

I’ve had a salt water aquarium for about a year and I get everything I need at Salty Critter. I buy my water, supplies, food and fish (everything) from them. They’re very friendly and helpful too.

For those of you who have no experience with salt water aquariums, think of it much like gardening if your flowers cost $ 80 each and you had to spend a few hours every week weeding and fertilizing. But if you like your hobbies to mix elbow grease, biology and a bit of chemistry you might enjoy it. If you do, you’ll end up at Salty Critter since they are the best store in town.
I went here when I was first starting out. Dan, the owner, took a good amount of time going through everything I would need and what to expect. I even took notes, them compared them to some online research. His suggestions were spot-on…no pushing his own stock for the sake of a sale. Everyone there has been helpful during every return visit (and there have been many).
My only complaint is long delayed web presence for the store. Vermilion isn’t close and I’d like to know what available. Nothing worse than driving 45 minutes to find out that tomorrow is a big shipment with tons of cool stuff.
That quibble aside, if you’re just getting into the hobby or experienced but haven’t been willing to make the trip out (I’m talking to you, eastsiders) — take the plunge. It’s worth it.
