My sewing scissors hadn’t been sharpened in years and were too dull to cut through layers of fabric. I brought them to Trevor and he did a wonderful job! I’m back to cutting my sewing projects and couldn’t be happier with the sharpness– it’s like I have new scissors again. A while back I got a new set of knives. Good quality, but right out of the box, they just weren’t that sharp.
I looked online for a local sharpener in Ventura and found Hollenback. I was intrigued by his website explaining the Japanese water stones and not allowing the edge to get hot like it would with a grinder. Interesting stuff.
I use my knives everyday, so I was also happy to find that he has free pickup and delivery in Ventura, or I could drop them off and have them back in about a hour.
I cut a tomato for lunch before the sharpening and another for dinner after. Wow! Like butter… The sharp knife just fell through the tomato.

You mean I can get this service with out having to go anywhere? Yep. I live in Ventura and I am always forgetting to take care of the dull knife situation until I am cursing at the mush of tomato or whatever I’ve mangled because my kitchen knives have become more like kitchen hammers. (Ugh!) Trevor is the kind of dude who puts great skill and care into everything he touches. Kind, straightforward and gets the job done right.
