Venice Swing

I’ve taken a lot of swing dance and other partner dances over the years, and Josh and Marisa are among the best instructors I’ve ever had. They are well educated in their genre of dance and music, and have a very solid background in lindy and swing.
Marisa and Josh are honestly dedicated to helping cultivate more great dancers, because they want to have more people to dance with out on the floor. Both are excited and passionate about dance, and they’re both very active in the swing/​lindy dance community, often showing up for class energized and inspired by big dance events and performances.
Josh and Marisa are great at breaking down steps with proper counts, and they’re great at analyzing dancers’ movements to figure out what’s working and what isn’t. They give great, simple corrections that take your dance from «wait, you want me to do what?» to «wow, that feels great! NOW I get it!» They’re equally patient and helpful with total newbies who need help putting their feet on the floor in time to the music, and with intermediate to advanced dancers who are looking to increase their connectivity and stylization.
Marisa and Josh are attentive to communicating to their students about what’s going on with their classes and in the dance community, and they’re consistent about their classes. On the rare chance that one of them can’t make a class, they always secure an equally wonderful substitute, so you just don’t have to worry about showing up on an «off» night.
These guys are the real deal, and they have created a really friendly, kind, and very supportive environment to learn in.

I have always wanted to learn how to Swing Dance. Marissa and Josh are pros committed to teaching Lindy Hop to even the most uncoordinated souls (speaking for myself of course) and getting us up to speed. I’m now in the intermediate class and it just keeps getting more fun each time! It seems like the news has spread because more and more people are showing up — it’s become a really nice group of regulars and newbies. If you have a Sunday evening free, come check it out! P. S. I didn’t even know that Lindy Hop was related to Swing Dance. Josh and Marissa are as devoted to educating their students (their «Leads and Follows» as they like to say) in the history and art of the dance as they are on the steps, moves and embellishments of the dance itself. You won’t regret coming out and trying Venice Swing!
