Established in 2009.

Sophia has expanding her dreamy space on Abbot Kinney! All of the therapist carry Sophia’s same vision of a customized approach to meet the client where they are, understand their needs and make sure they are truly fulfilled. The Boutique studio is top floor, lots of light, high beams ceilings and hardwood floors. Clients feel immediately at home and truly cared for.

Sophia is having a blast running her own business. She couldn’t hope for a better atmosphere and location to offer her clients. When it comes to wax products and facial techniques the specific needs of her clients are top priority. She brings an extensive understanding of skin, products, and health creating a holistic approach to skin care. Sophia has trained in many different facial modes and various products. She has also studied massage and the healing arts.

Whether it be laughing your way through an otherwise awkward and quite painful situation (brazilian wax!), clarifying a hormonal breakout, or unwinding from a busy life, Sophia hopes you will leave your session feeling de-​stressed, renewed and truly taken care of.

I just moved to Venice from NYC and needed a wax badly after the cross country move! After checking Unilocal reviews I decided on spa Sophia and am so glad I did. I had an amazing Brazilian today with Robyn! She was sweet, interesting and easy to talk with which makes the sometimes awkward Brazilian way more comfortable. She also did a great job on my brows. So happy I found such an amazing spa on my first try! Will definitely return for waxing and to try facials and massage. Love this adorable spa!

Came in for a facial from Robyn today, my first in ages. It was a fantastic experience. Relaxing, gentle and painless. I’ll definitely go back as well as for a massage as this place is a little piece of utopia on Abbot Kinney.

Spa Sophia is amazing! When I first started coming here I had moderate to severe acne and was concerned that I would never get rid of it and it would scar. Kim, one of the aestheticians working here, seriously changed my life! She didn’t just sit me down and give me a facial but helped me try to figure out the underlying causes of my acne, recommend products and explain to me everything she was doing. Bonus: she also is good at pretty painless extractions. I’ve learned a lot from her about how to take care of my skin and the lifestyle changes I needed to make to help. Not only are the people that work there great, the ambiance is amazing too. It’s very peaceful and clean, the music is wonderful and you can tell they really care about their clients. I would give more than 5 stars if I could! Well worth the price.

Spa Sophia is a little slice of heaven on Abbot Kinney! I had one of –if not the best– relaxing massage from Michael! His energy was so wonderful! As soon as he said hello I knew it was going to be a special experience and it was. I feel so relaxed and I can’t wait to go back for more treatments!

This review is mainly for Kimberly Cole as I’ve only had a facial with her. BUT LET ME JUST TELL YOU — BEST FACIAL I’VE EVER HAD! I didn’t even know that extractions could be that painless. She recommended I try the «ISUN Clarifying Serum» and I’ve really liked the way it feels on my skin. It’s very hydrating and just want I wanted. Not only is she really knowledgeable about the products at the spa, but she is also just a really nice person. I accidentally burned my finger cooking breakfast that morning (I’m an idiot) and I was running late to my appointment. Kimberly put a miracle cream over the burn and stayed a little into her lunch break so that I received the full treatment. She is seriously amazing and I highly recommend her.

Still an excellent wax! Detailed and top of the line. They were also wonderfully considerate and mindful and flexible when I was running late. That’s some customer service! I love the white wood interior and all the linens are comfortable and soothing. The only place I go for a wax when I come to LA!

I went to Robyn for a a brow wax and she took my brows from bleak to FLEEK! She keeps them as full as possible and even does brow correction! I love the location and honestly the service was so relaxing I almost fell asleep. Wish I had time to tack on a facial!

Meghan gave a healing Abyhanda massage. I felt better circulation and less stressed throughout the day. Much needed after weeks of travel and stress on my diabetic body.
Natarsha shaped my eyebrows to perfection and was very detailed on my waxing!
It’s a small boutique spa with rooms for services. It’s quiet and relaxing. They offer wonderful spa products as well.

I STILL LOVE AYLA. She is probably the best massage therapist I have ever encountered and I will continue to frequent her when possible. She’s booked up, so it’s best to make appointments ahead of time with her!
That being said, Amanda is no longer at the Spa! I’m not sure when she will return, but her departure made me look for someone else to help me manage my acne. I tried one other esthetician at this salon and did not feel the same connection I did with her as I did Amanda. I now go to my dermatologist for facials instead of the spa.
I also tried getting waxed by two other people at Spa Sophia, but did not feel a connection with them either. One of them was actually a very painful waxing experience. Since then, I’ve taken my waxing needs to other establishments.
I still love the spa. Everyone at the front desk is incredibly friendly and they carry good products. I just won’t be frequenting it as often as I had been in the past. On the chance that Amanda comes back, I would still love to come in and see her, but it will not be on the regular now that my acne is clearing up and it would be more of a treat (!).

First of all, Spa Sophia is a really special spa located in Venice on Abbott Kinney Blvd. I have been going there for lots of services but recently tried Michael, who is a newer therapist to the spa, for prenatal massage (he does all kinds of massage but it was a bonus since that’s the only kind I can get right now).
Michael is so sweet and kind, he takes such good care of you, checking in to make sure you are comfortable and relaxed. You can tell he really cares about you, your body and experience. He has such a nice way about him and gives a GREAT massage.
I am excited to go back and see him once I have had the baby for a deeper massage because I can tell it will be just as wonderful.

«Execute /​CEO /​Masculine» anything I can say to the stylist to reinforce I want straight eyebrows.
The Australian aesthetician is aussome. Enjoyed conversation and attention and care paid to my brows.

Went for the first time today for a 90 min massage with Meghan. I had booked a massage with Ayla based on the reviews I read on Unilocal and because I wanted a strong deep tissue massage. They let me know only after I got there that they made a mistake in the scheduling and only Meghan was available. Minus one star for the mix up.
Meghan was nice, attentive and focused on my trouble spots but her style is Ayurvedic and not deep tissue. It wasn’t what I was after but I still tipped well for her efforts.
Also they have a special where walk-​ins get a 20% discount on the massage — made me feel less appreciated as a first time customer who paid full price. Minus another star for that.

It had been years since I had a facial. So this past Valentine’s day weekend, my sister and I decided to treat ourselves! Especially since all the reviews on here are so great :)
We went all out with the Signature plus facial which included amazing peels and an extended massage. I had a lovely esthetician, Natarsha, who really took the time to talk to me about my skin before delving in to the facial itself. I’ve always suffered from hormonal acne and redness as well as dry/​oily skin. She’s incredibly knowledgable and she gave me some great tips that I will implement into my daily regimen.
Now for the facial details! I can honestly say that I was so relaxed, even with the extraction process (pop those suckers!) that I fell asleep for a bit of it. Every lotion and oil and even the peels smelled so good. Natarsha explained every step of the process which I like because I’m often curious about what exactly a certain product does for the skin.
I also loved the massage portion of the facial, on my face and chest and arms. All in all I am so glad I tried this gem out and I will definitely be back in a few months!

I had the most incredible shirodhara experience at Spa Sophia with Ayurvedic practitioner Megan Darwin. I’ve never felt anything like it. I left feeling like I’d had massage, acupuncture, a chiropractic adjustment, done yoga and had a therapy session — never been so relaxed in my entire life!
I can’t wait to try her Ayurvedic Detox Program!
I’d recommend these treatments to anyone who deals with mid to high level stress daily. You will thank me later!

This place is legit! I went in for a Brazilian and it flew right by. Those are by far the most painful and can sometimes be a little awkward, but the conversation made the process fly by.
The salon is super cute and the bed is extremely comfy! I ended up also getting my eyebrows done and then my girl hooked me up by putting a couple creams on my face and a dab of cream on a little pimple I had coming in. It’s already gotten smaller and less red since this morning!
I have super sensitive skin all over and there’s no redness or irritation anywhere!
This is my new go to wax place and I might even splurge for a massage and facial one of these days!

I have been going to this place for almost 3 years for all my waxing needs. I have no idea why it took me this long to post a review. Maybe it was my own selfish desire to keep the place low-​key and easy to get an appointment at.
Anyways, I was originally drawn to the place by great reviews I had seen at the time. I had been off the wax wagon for almost a year at this point after a horrifying experience at another wax place. I’ll spare everyone the details but it definitely is not something I was looking to repeat. Sophia was amazing and super friendly which helps when one is getting a Brazilian. She is also quick and makes the experience as pain-​free as possible. The vibe of the place is really relaxing and super cute. Very shabby chic, meets beachy vibe.
Spa Sophia does much more than waxing. They also have highly-​trained massage therapists and estheticians. The other day I finally decided to get a facial after experiencing frustrating adult acne flare ups. Natarsha was my esthetician and she was AMAZING!!! She went through my normal routine and helped to tweak it to get my skin back to a clearer state. The best part was she actually simplified my routine and eliminated the number of products I was using which ultimately saved my checkbook too. It’s been almost 4 weeks since my facial and after continuing to follow the super easy routine she’s given me my skin has actually stayed relatively clear. I have every intention of going back to see her in the next week or so to do my follow up so we can make any necessary tweaks to really get my skin back to where it was a year ago.
Overall, this is a really great little gem on Abbott Kinney!
