I manage a coffee shop in Dallas and when looking for a mega caffeine boost I didn’t have super high hopes. But on the oceanfront walk, groundwork coffee was such a pleasant surprise to find. Excellent coffee– high quality espresso– and the two gentlemen running the shop were very polite and helpful. This will be my go-to store while I’m here. Recommend their cold brew and their mochas(which have a horchata/Mexican taste to them).

This was my 2nd experience at this Groundwork Coffee. The first time was fine — I believe the manager was on duty, and he was super friendly and warm. After this trip, I can’t say I’ll be giving them another shot. The cashier seems completely disinterested, and mocked me when I asked for a «warm» drink. The barista looked bored, and prepared my drink with little enthusiasm. I think that when you go into a coffee shop, part of the experience is the service you receive. I didn’t get any of that here. My latte was terrible, with absolutely no foam. The only plus(if you can call it that) is that the costs are somewhat reasonable, and they don’t charge extra for Almond Milk.

There isn’t much to say here. The service was great, the drinks were great, and prices were great(especially for being on the beach)! The shop has a nice urban vibe to it. It is however a tiny hole in the wall, so the line picks up, but it moves quick. Definitely recommend giving it a whirl, even for your basic cup of joe needs.

LOVE this place. there’s usually a bit of a line but it moves quickly. the 2 guys who always serve me are great! loads of personality and make a fantastic coffee. the cold brew is fantastic, I always get half ice cause I slam them down quick. the Mexican mocha was also amazing, I’ve never had anything like this befor .it’s essentially a mocha with an added blend of spices that really give it a kick! def recommend trying it. the caps and lattes are always on point.

Great place! I was craving an iced mint green tea and although they didn’t have that, they mixed a mint tea with a green tea for me! It was great! Thank you so much! Staff was super friendly and helpful too.

Venice Gem. Magical spot. So many interesting people walk in and out of this spot at every moment. Great coffee, great service, and very local feeling on the week days.

favorite coffee in socal, can’t lie! my fave is the iced blended espresso and their cold brew in a rad glass growler. addictive. though i did see sf’s philz coffee in santa monica, i have mixed feelings about that and therefore will not oblige them. i love groundwork’s BLACKGOLD. it’s like a smooth slow motion kick in the mouf! bzzzzzz you can definitely do stupid things faster with that in your system. without the crash and the TMJ. :) The Santa Monica location is also awesome. Food, larger space, manageable parking situation, great service.

Whoever came up with the Cold brew Horchata coffee is a genius! If I lived closer I would drink one or two or three a day! Glad I found this coffee shop!

I’ve been here 4 – 5 times in the past year and I keep coming back when I visit Venice. cappacino, latte or macchiato are all very good. The best part is Jorge and Mauro. Love em, they make the place great. Thanks guys.

I recommend the iced coffee and the Vietnamese iced coffee. They also sell a delicious brand of coconut water. A bit pricey but the coffee blend in my iced coffee was delicious.

This place is great. I go here for coffee almost every day, sometimes twice a day. The coffee is consistently delicious, and the staff couldn’t be friendlier or more helpful. Highly recommended.

I love a good local coffee shop. I go out of my way to always search for new places on every vacation I take. On this vacation to Venice beach, CA I found this local spot. It was in a small little shop off the main drag. The menu was not that extensive. I got an iced coffee and was not that impressed. It tasted watered down and did not have much body to the flavor. They also only provided raw sugar with no other options of sugar to mix in. I usually prefer my coffee with a packet or 2 of splenda. This place was too hipster for its own good.

Great coffee steps away from the beach. The guys know their business, their coffee and their regulars. Super friendly service and fabulous beverages. Almond croissant, coffee and a sunny morning at the beach — what more do you want?!

I usually am in a bad mood until I get my hands on some caffeine however when Jorge and Mauro are working I cannot help but smile. Jorge and Mauro go over the top with their detail and attention to customer service, these guys make really great latte’s and are so nice, it makes me want to go there 3 times a day! I would rather wait a little longer knowing that every customer is getting quality service rather than being hurried along and not taken proper care of. This coffee shop is a little dive/hole in the wall with banging coffee and little bites to eat.

Great coffee with quick and attentive service. The cold brew coffee is terrific and the daily selection of croissants and related pastries make a quick breakfast a breeze if you’re staying on the beach. Looking for breakfast? Grab an awesome«egg mc lovin» sandwich from the cooler. It’s great!

Not a lot of coffee shops offer Mexican Mocha. I’m glad they offer it here. Definitely kept me warm in the gloomy weather. The hint of cinnamon taste was not too overpowering. Great service as well. No fees for credit cards!
