History

Established in 1947.

Since 1947 when founder Harry H. Britton established Britton’s House of Furnishings, the business has undergone many changes and has grown from simply offering floor coverings, furniture and accessories. Over the years, the company was passed to his sons, Ron and Pete, then on to Ron’s sons, Todd and John. In 1992 the business moved to its present location at 1190 East Venice Avenue, adding nearly 2,000 square feet to the showroom.

In 2008 upon Todd’s retirement, John and his wife Joni (a decorator hired by Ron in 1990), joined by partner Mike Hughes, a Venice-​area home builder with over 100 homes to his credit, took the reins. Together, they launched a major remodel of the store, which included the expansion of the Design & Interiors Studio plus the introduction of a new Home Improvement Center featuring an extensive selection of custom cabinetry and countertops, in addition to offering many other construction and remodeling products and services.
