Fern Ridge Library

It’s a nice little library. There are lots of public computers, which mean po’ folks doing their business. There is also free wi-​fi, which attracts teens with smart phones and hobos who want a freebee. Especially late a night, you’ll see people outside, on the benches or in their cars, availing themselves of the internet.
There ARE quite a few programs after school, such as «Read to a Dog» and «Movie Night», to encourage locals to use the library, as well as several book sales during the year. And the library has a steering committee (the Library Board) to run the place, which they encourage folks to join and participate in.
The paid staff is neither overly friendly nor unfriendly. One great service is Inter-​library loan, which gives you access to books from everywhere in the district. And there is a great DVD collection with quite a few recent films and TV episodes.
All in all, not a bad place, though I wish they’d turn of the wi-​fi at night, to discourage the derelicts from hanging around outside the building after hours.

Nice little community library. Because if severe budget cuts they have had to scale back some services. There appears to be a nice selection of contemporary books music to view and to take home.
The online options are very helpful for those of us who use Kindle.
Some very nice programming that is focused on community needs and interests.

Great place to sit and read a book — or be on the web near a window for bright light and a view to the street. BUT the hours are too limited, the web connection is too slow, and the chairs are uncomfortable.
