Specialties
My clinical specialty is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Research shows that It is the treatment of choice for helping become to overcome stress and depression. In many situations it can be more helpful than medication alone, and in other cases it is effective with medication.
My practice is focused on helping people to take 100% Total Responsibility through the use of Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy. My commitment is centered on assisting my patients to think rationally by changing their unhealthy, irrational and self-defeating beliefs into beliefs that are healthy, rational (sensible) and life enhancing. When my patients create patterns of thinking that are healthy they improve dramatically and find themselves enjoying life.
Most of my clients’ disturbances can be significantly reduced and sometimes eliminated altogether by healthy, rational thinking and functional behavior which can be learned through the study of Rational and Cognitive thinking.
History
Established in 1996.
The «center for behavioral medicine» was conceptualized many years ago in graduate school. Its gestation period ran parallel with my early years in Boulder, Colorado. In 1996 a limited liability corporation was formed to offer an expansion of services that allowed my own inner dream to come true. The L.L.C. was named Live S.M.A.R.T., and was the ‘umbrella’ organization for three groups that became the life blood of the new company. The three divisions, research, psychoeducation and behavioral medicine have each been successful. First, Reseaarch has conducted and published statistically significant research in health care; secondly, Psychoeducation has published a book on behavioral health through Pepper Press Publications as well as seven years of psychoeducational PepperGrams, and the Center for Behavioral Medicine has treated hundreds of patients for stress disorders over a period of fifteen years. The Center for Behavioral Medicine is headquarted in Vancouver, Washington.
